never heard of him but he's a DM, sure what the hell. this would increase the current amount of DMs from 0 to 1.

Not necessarily a terrible thing for a specialist DM. Would be nice if that was in it locker of course, but then he wouldn't be at Betis at 28yrs old costing 20mil.
It is a terrible thing, if you're looking to actually score goals and win games.

The main reason we're so fragile at the back is that we struggle to progress the ball forward from our defensive third. We are so easy to press because our current midfielders can't play through it and present the opposition with opportunities to win the ball back. A limited player like him makes it worse.

If we can reliably move the ball forward without passing it to the opposition, we'll automatically become a much better team defensively.

Christ on a bike.

The Caf have been wailing and banging on about how we have not signed a proper CDM for what feels like the last 20 transfer windows and the minute we are linked to one who also happens to have a pretty decent pedigree people are losing their minds just because they haven't watched Betis play.

I am not about to claim I know a great deal about him but he looked good in the Copa America last year as a regular in the team that won the tournament and Betis were very competitive in La Liga last season also. He has just turned 28 so should be in his prime and 20M is really not that much, surely worth a look and as he fills a role we don't currently have makes us better by default.

An Argentinian? With no links to Ajax? I’m calling bullshit. Does he have a half Dutch grandfather that we don’t know about? Perhaps his brother had a Holland top as a kid? Any Edam in his fridge? Give me something.

It would be moronic to have a limited midfielder on the ball, after spunking 100s of millions on CBs who can play with the ball at their feet.

But then again this is the club, who bought AWB after talking about playing on the front foot and signing Maguire for his ball playing for £80m.
Or he could drop in and give Maguire and Martinez more freedom to get on the ball and progress it.

Like I said who knows if this is even real it's silly season and the fact that we looked so bad yesterday also

I think if Varane is fit Martinez can screen the back four maybe.

I mean United could spunk big money on Pau Torres and hope Martinez could play CDM

Honestly if we just want another body at the back, why not just play 3 at the back?

Why not just play 3 at the back in that scenario?

Hopefully somehow FDJ joins and we get this guy and McFred never play again apart from the EFL.
That's it confirmed then. FDJ hasn't signed yet because we haven't bought his suggested DM. It's all coming together now

Let the “panic” links be formed by the media now. We’ll be linked with 10 new names by the end of next week I’m sure.

Argentine fans seem to rate him, apparently bossed it at the last Copa America when they won.

Would be nice getting a proper DM in before the window for a change

He played in the Mexican league when he broke into Argentine setup when they were struggling with a geriatric Mascherano and Biglia. And he was terrible.

How do his stats rate against someone like Fabinho?

Never heard of him but we seem to be in panic mode...
I'm so tired of thus club.
Sometimes it’s better going for the right player rather a brand name. Hasn’t been that successful in the past, Varane, Cavani, Falcao, Di Maria, Schweinsteiger, Schnierdelin etc probably a lot more. Give the guy a chance, could be the part of the jigsaw we need.

Defence needs protection, McFred isn’t up to it and makes the defence look worse than it is. I don’t agree with the Arnautovic signing or the Rabiot one but this guy could be good for us, couldn’t be worse than what we already have.

Yeh I think you're shitting the bed a bit here. Understandable given the state of things tbh.

If the past reports is anything to go by, I really doubt we would be going for that kind of player (Specialist without the ball, but poor on it).
Unless of course ETH shot his pants yesterday.
