Christ on a bike.

The Caf have been wailing and banging on about how we have not signed a proper CDM for what feels like the last 20 transfer windows and the minute we are linked to one who also happens to have a pretty decent pedigree people are losing their minds just because they haven't watched Betis play.

I am not about to claim I know a great deal about him but he looked good in the Copa America last year as a regular in the team that won the tournament and Betis were very competitive in La Liga last season also. He has just turned 28 so should be in his prime and 20M is really not that much, surely worth a look and as he fills a role we don't currently have makes us better by default.
The point is , it was clear for months that we needed a DM, even if FDJ was coming. Why have we delayed this till now ? Come on, you just can't blame the fans for this. Don't tell me that he is a backup to FDJ as they both are 2 different types of players.

So apparently he was the reason Argentina won the Copa and Betis finished 5th but none of the caf scouting hipsters have ever seen him play or even heard of him?

If the past reports is anything to go by, I really doubt we would be going for that kind of player (Specialist without the ball, but poor on it).
Unless of course ETH shot his pants yesterday.
He had Edson Alvarez in his Ajax midfield who is probably even more limited.

Against similar players in their respective leagues, makes more tackles compared to his peer group, wins ground duels more. He's a destroyed type, his passing accuracy (long) is worse than the lines of Rice, Rodri (even McT) and makes less forward passes per 90 than all of his peer group.

He's a destroyer nothing more, the question is can he beat a press.

Panic buy posts are strange. When does panic buy starts? I mean if we started working on these midfield deals, where we desperately need additions, like 2 weeks age, would that be panic buying?

The blind scouting and recruiting department keep spinning the wheel.
"are there other teams from Spain after Barcelona.?"
"Hmm, B.. Barcelona, then the next team looks to be Betis.? Do they have any midfielders.?"
"Lets check their wikipedia"..

He played in the Mexican league when he broke into Argentine setup when they were struggling with a geriatric Mascherano and Biglia. And he was terrible.

How our stocks have fallen
You're an expert on him, watched him regularly?

Schneiderlin was a brand name?
At the time he was, fantastic for Southampton and think a few clubs were in for him. Maybe not a brand name, may have went a bit over board lumping him in, all I meant was he was the type of signing everyone wanted and was the type of signing United are about. Times have changed, this guy could be the next Kante or could be another Fred. From the clips he looks strong and not afraid of putting a tackle in, decent vision for passes as well.

Honestly I'd rather us buy 2/3 players for the price of 1 fdj. Especially with 5 subs.

At no time Schneiderlin was a brand name. He wasn't even a big name or a confirmed player. It was generic good midtable player with potential to play for a bigger club.

All teams in the league will start using McTominay's stats as a yard stick whether to sign a midfielder.

That McFred performance has broke Ten Hag. Midfield overhaul incoming
If you said midfield overhaul a year back we'd have though of all sorts of sexy new toys. Instead were linked with a 28 old nobody has heard of.

We are building our own Milner-Henderson-Wijnaldum midfield.

fecking hell, he's 28? I thought (hoped) he was some raw and unproven 20-year-old, a diamond in the rough etc.

Well, that's mostly because I had never heard of him before the links started appearing.
