What is the ambition of our club?

I know we are one game in but I am genuinely confused about where United are as a football club. On the face of it, we have made an excellent appointment as our new manager and in pre-season we began to see the first fruits of early impact. However, whilst this is happening, we are witnessing nothing short of amateurism in the transfer window. We are on the verge of recruiting two players that are acknowledged to be 'baggage'. Then in our first match of the season, all the pre-season lessons appear to have been forgotten. Is it that the people running the club genuinely don't know what they are doing? Are they really utterly incompetent? Is the rot across the club even more wide-spread and deeper that we ever imagined?

Where are we heading and what is the ambition of our club?

For Glazers to make money. That's pretty much it.

Ambition and United are 2 words that should not be used together in the same sentence these days. We have none of it. Our ideal world would be finishing 4th every year.

We're in the mud

The board/owners will tell you they have ambition, but they inept to do it and making money will always come first for them. If they truly are ambitious, they'd be serious enough to bring in football people in the board/scouting level to thoroughly prepare for this season - yet again, the board members is who the glazers are familiar with.

What's hilarious was the club thinking hiring EtH was enough to get out in a serious mess, the club are just inept cnuts

I think the Glazers have gone all in on the idea of the Super League still happening. It would mean a permanent place at the big kids' table for United, without having to invest a dime or worry about CL qualification. Would also be a huge boon for the club's valuation, with the massive TV deal that was proposed.

Make money for the owners. How that is done is maximising sponsorship so the club needs to be in the Champions League every other year. There is zero ambition to win trophies.

" At Manchester United Greatness is more than a word; it’s a way of being, it’s about going further, doing more, respect, honour, never settling for ordinary, inspiring people, our legacy, walking with giants and lifting the prize. "

- According to our updated investor page.

Better than what it was before with the "exploit the global reach of the club moneytalk...", but that was at least in line with the operations of the club.

As many stated: to make money. Period. Van Gaal was dead right when he says this a commercial club. Not a football club. Old Trafford these days is a company that happens to have a football pitch in the middle.

The owners have no ambition, they're not even bothered about UCL anymore

We are the Glazer's real payday twice a year. They couldnt give a toss about what happens in between as long as those dividends are paid. It will be a long road back for sure, I just hope there is a road back and that we dont drift into pure irrelevance.

I honestly have no idea at this point. The obvious answer is to make money for the Glazer's but then why at no point have they put people with actual expertise in charge? So much has been spent on transfers and wages in the last decade and at no stage have we looked like a particularly good team. Surely anyone competent would have wanted to put the right people in positions to get better on field results (which help make the club money) probably for less money spent.

“The Glazers are greedy, and use this club as a toy", Paul Scholes Apr 29, 2021.

It takes a lot for Scholesy to scold the owners like that and there is no stopping of the Manchester United rot as long as they remain owners.

Our net spend wouldn't be as high as it is over the last 9 years if we had no ambition.

We're just run by absolute incompetent fools who don't know what they're doing. You can have all the ambition in the world to win the league and champions league but it's not enough, it all comes down to decision making. If you're run by ambitious idiots then they're going to make idiotic decisions and you're not going to get anywhere.

Almost every footballing decision we make is dumb. Wrong choice in managers, blatant nepotism in appointing managers/coaches/technical staff, bad signings, wrong decisions to extend players contracts, holding onto below par players too long, an inability to address the weakest areas of the team and build a balanced squad, inability to negotiate fair wages, inability to negotiate fair transfer fees, inability to get transfers over the line, inability to build a squad with a vision of how the team wants to play.

I have no doubt the higher ups are trying to get us back to the top, they're just clueless as to how to achieve it.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
We’ll find out in the next 3 weeks. If Arnautovic and Rabiot are additions to a top class CM, RW and ST then we’re trying to get back to the summit. If they are the CM and attacking signings then scraping top 6 is the goal.

We've spent more money than anyone. It's just badly spent. The idea that the ownership are penny pinchers doesn't hold water. ETH will get a chance to build his own squad just like every other manager..but he will have to work around a weak upstairs team

We only want to make money. That’s it. The dumb Fcuk American owners think that we won’t lose fans. That the American model of fanatic support handed down through the family still exists. It doesn’t.

We are not making ANY new fans, other than those that support Ronaldo.

There is nothing interesting, exciting or aspirational about our football club. We don’t have a nice ground, our players aren’t popular, exciting or enigmatic.

But the money pours in because we have a huge fan base. The owners won’t care if we have a ‘Liverpool’ period and don’t win a league title for 30 years.

Sadly they don’t understand that Liverpool just about got back on the fun bus. Just. United will have to overhaul 5 clubs to get back any past glories. It’s almost impossible.

But we make money. And that money will pour in for at least another decade. The next guys and girls owning us will have to fix us. The Glazers do not give a feck.

We are currently doing everything they want us to. Print money for them with them paying the tiniest bit of attention.

That's the ambition of every club, directly or indirectly.
Is that the ambition of City or PSG? No. But I think you misunderstood my original point which was that regardless of whether the owners seek profit or not, they at least invest money into the club for future dividends,. Our owners don't invest a dime into the club and throughout their tenure they have only taken out of it. Billions, in fact. That's excluding the debt they've saddled us originally when they brought the club that is still there and we're still paying for it..

Typical US business model, extract as much money out as possible. When theyve milked every last penny, sell for as much as you can.

To keep the club in debt so that the real owners,JP Morgan, can continue to syphon profit from it. Glazers are just the front men for the American bank.

I love to say, "to get back to the top." It's just how committed the currents owners are to doing that is the question.

We are not a football club.

We are a merchandising brand that occasionally kicks a ball around a park.

It’s easier to digest the shyte of the last few seasons once you accept it ain’t about sport or competitiveness…..
