I’d honestly rather play Garner (or even Zidane Iqbal at this point) over McTominay or van de Beek, and I don’t even rate him highly from what limited viewing I’ve seen of him. Those two are proven nothing players in central midfield.
I personally don't think any of the young players are ready, bar Garnacho, but even if they were I'd be wary putting them under such extreme pressure in a dysfunctional team like the one we have. Every mistakes will be scrutinized. A few bad performances has the potential to destroy their confidence and stall development.

Martial out! feck me - someone must have a voodoo doll of this poor fecker. Pin in the back of the leg everytime he gets a spring in his step.
    Change it up Eric.
DDG, Dalot, Maguire, Varane, Malacia, Erikson, Martinez, VDB, Bruno, Sancho, Ronaldo. Play Martinez alongside Erikson and VDB - feck it see what happens

All my optimism was wiped out after the first game so I'm not looking forward to this.

I can only see a Brentford win.

I love it when people here are so down beat, it almost always means we win.

Growing pains are to be expected. But the drop in performance was much bigger than
anyone could have imagined, in the first half.

True. That’d be like Barca playing Mascherano, Alves, and Alba against a Madrid side with Ronaldo and Benzema… oh wait
To be fair you are talking about a side who probably kept the ball for 70%+ of the game.

I think if you dropped that backline into this United side they would have massive problems too (Even though they are all individually better than their United counterparts).

    I'd like to see Malacia.

Watching his videos he's very skillful and strong. Not much point buying him if he's too short to play. We're crying out for some of his skills.

It feels like an important game - after this we have Liverpool, Southampton away, Leicester away and Arsenal - we need some points on the board.

Having said that, we've lost our last six away games and were awful again last weekend. I think maybe we'll start slowly and go behind but slowly grow in to the game. 2-2.

    Can he play at RB?

I'm convinced he can't be any worse than Dalot.

If we lose this and v Liverpool, we’d have lost of 8 the last 12 league games.

Tomorrow is so important for three points as I can’t see nowt but a defeat next weekend.

    I've not see him there.

Would be a shame to see him put there for a period of time as well as he's very adept at tackling and intercepting with his left foot, seems very specialized on this left side.

I would guess it'll be the same team except with Ronaldo instead of McTominay and Eriksen dropping deeper.

I know its only been preseason but I've been severely unimpressed by Malacia. He looks slow, both in reactions and in general overall pace.

I don't see an upgrade on Shaw in any aspect. Instead, he might be an upgrade on Telles as a back-up.

Why does ten Hag not like varane?
Can't say, but he hasn't shown anything to warrant a place in his time here. If you want him to get a start simply because Harry is so frustrating then I guess, but based off performances last year Varane was no better than any of the other frauds we have in our CB stable.

I used to get excited about the weekend coming up, ready for the next match. Now it feels like wishing the week just hurries up until the match can be done with, like spending the day counting down the hours until you find out why your missus just said "Yeah, whatever bye" when you left for work.

Just get it over and done with FFS.

    You cant be serious?
    I sure am.

With some effort, and no small amount of alcohol, you could probably make a coherent argument that playing Piers Morgan in place of Dalot would be no less detrimental to the team's cause.

    Would like to see;

    DDG
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Eriksen Fred
    Sancho DVB Bruno
    Ronaldo

Will probably get McFred and Donny will sit on the bench for 90 minutes killing my high-stake Fantasy Premier League gamble to start him over Martinez...

Kind of stopped reading there mate.
Mate i guess you did not see AWB come in at the 66th minute in the pre season game against Crystal Palace and basicly looked like bambi on ice?

It was painful to watch. He does not suit ETH tactics at all, he lacks the technique and passing abiolity and football intellligence.

Sorry if im blunt but im fed up with poor players dragging our team down the mud.

Good for you because he is right.
Great to hear that i am not alone mate.

Surely you don't pay 55m for a centre back then change his position one game in?
I know it sounds silly mate but i rather have Martinez as CDM instead of McFred, we cannot play out of the back cause of the and our overall game breaks down.

Until we have gotten someone in as CDM our best bet is Martinez, he is press resistant and is a smart player with a good passing game.
