Trying to figure out a functional team and all my permutations have Bruno on the bench.

I think it will be the same team that played most of the second-half on Sunday. Eriksen in midfield with Ronaldo up top.

I have the feeling this game will be very important for how our season turns out.

Lose here and it can spiral out of control.

Win here and the tone is set we are somewhat capable.
A win can breed a lot of confidence and form a winning run… however a bit tricky that we’ve got Liverpool next game, so even a win here and we could still lose next week but we can just aswell beat Liverpool next week if we turn up and have a decent midfielder in before then. One signing if it’s the right one and with the right mentality can change a team around just as Bruno did for us.

I actually think we will look a lot better in this one. Last week was a lower point than any preseason game so I can't see us being that bad again.

Had another behind closed doors friendly midweek so we should have enough minutes in the legs to perform at an acceptable level.

I'm backing 2-0 United in quite a controlled manner.

I know asking for both Fred and Mctominay to be dropped may be too much but at least one has to be dropped surely.

    2-0 Brentford.
I think it'll be the turn of the year before we start looking somewhat coherent.

He'll change it today surely. Ronaldo starts, he must have seen how much better we were when eriksen went deeper last week. Against last week I'd go Ronaldo for mctominay, and garnacho for rashford

Liverpool are so far out of our league that I don't think a loss impacts the team/ETH at all. That game for me is a write off. The state of things huh.

I rather we blood the youth now then stick with McFred. Get in Iqbal or Garner to partner with Eriksson and Bruno.

McTom will start for his 'physical presence', which he's still rather sh*t at.

Ronaldo will start and eriksen will play deeper. We looked good when he made that change second halve. Goes to show that by just having a natural striker you instantly look better. He tried eriksen as a false 9 and it backfired but he’ll learn and improve.

It's typical we're playing the final fixture today. Everyone will be tuning in to see another catastrophe.

Shaw will start. He needs to be played into form for the next match. Don’t see ETH giving Malacia a run of games until after Liverpool.

First home game of the season for Brentford, they'll be well up for it. It's the type of pressure game these players crumble in. Can only see it going one way.

Shaw has had years to "play into form". Its hasnt worked
What makes you think it will today?

    He's muck.

Pick 1 player and support them for the whole 90 mins!

I’m going for Martinez…he will be targeted by Brentford but I think he will love it.

Our players get nervous as feck at Old Trafford, especially when they make a mistake.

The complexion of the game completely changed against Brighton when Fred gave the ball away, which presented a good chance for them.

After that, it all kind of went downhill. As our number 6, he needs to be always showing and demanding the ball.

Having had a solid pre-season, I don't think ten Hag should take him out straight away. I think he has two options:

    1) Play Fred at the base and bring in Eriksen for McTominay. This way, although ten Hag likes his number 8's to play high up in the inside forward positions, Eriksen can drop and help Fred distribute the ball, with Bruno pushing on. We saw this work really well with Iqbal and Savage, with both dovetailing really well.

    2) Put Eriksen at the base, with Bruno and McTominay/Van de Beek above. This worked quite well when he was moved deeper against Brighton, and although we'd lose Fred's dynamism, we'd gain a lot more in our build-up phase. Eriksen has the ability to play it through the lines and this was a constant feature when he moved deep against Brighton.

Either way, I can't imagine ten Hag will panic. It was only pre-season, but for most of it, we performed at a pretty high level and played some good football, too. We need to be better off the ball, though. Brighton is a very good footballing side and I can't imagine Brentford, or any other team for that matter, except for Man City, will play like that against us. However, we need to be more compact off the ball. There were way too many gaps and Brighton was first to everything, or so it felt that way.

We're going to get a real glimpse at what ten Hag is made of today.

Starting XI needs some major changes to last week.

    Looking for Eric
If things don't go well after 15 minutes heads drop and the game goes to pieces that is all they know. If Varane is fit and Maguire starts it does not bode well for the rest of the season.
