Sky sports just reported Chelsea have bid £40m for Anthony Gordon. Promising young English player. Bags of pace.

Not sure Everton will accept that price for an English EPL youngster

So fofana and Gordon would add at least another £150m to their spending. Madness. They would still be going for a striker.

Is he any better than Pulisic or Hudson-Odoi? I haven't seen much of him but I don't think so.

He's far from an average player potential wise, but £40m? Really? Am I missing something? I like him, but I'm not seeing an amazing player...

Not sure if he is what Chelsea need. Likes to run with the ball but don't think much of a goal threat?!

He’s always looked dangerous and a threat on the counter attack. He has bags of pace and is pretty decent at dribbling. Every time I’ve seen him play against the big teams, he’s been the biggest threat. Not sure how he’d perform against deep lying teams like he would come across playing for Chelsea.

I’ll be surprised though if Everton don’t ask for £60m+ considering the crazy prices in the current market and not having the need to sell.

And 80 million for De Jong?
I’m personally in the camp they are no longer going for FDJ. They clearly need forwards and another defender. Their midfield was brilliant today so certainly not a pressing need.

I think chelsea will personally just stick to their midfield options as they are now.

His end product currently is really bad. Everything else is exciting though and he has a lot of potential. I’d probably sell him for 50m+ if they offered it but it’s at that stage of the window now where if they did, who would we end up replacing him with and how quickly could we? We need a win pronto and we would be worse off without him.

There is a reason why a lot of Everton fans would take 50mish for him despite him being home grown. He still has a lot of growth to do.

Really like the look of him, if he was playing abroad and the English tax didn't exist I'd want us to snap him up

I like the look of him (aside from the actual look of him, of course), but Chelsea as it is have nowt but lots of nice little players to play on the wings and behind the striker without offering much goal threat.

I don't get it.

He went by the name of Wayne Rooney
One of the players that seems to be rated by a lot of the posters on here, but one who I've never been particularly impressed by.

Everton would be laughing if they got 40 million for him right now.

He’s mostly been a wide forward coming through the ranks But Everton have played him up top. He’s a real competitor with very high work rate but the question would be over his quality on the ball.
He has two question marks currently for me - his fitness and his end product. He’s very good on the ball and his dribbling is great but he doesn’t assist or score anywhere near the amount he could or should be with that ability. His fitness too, he works incredibly hard at both ends of the pitch but by the 60th minute he has no energy left at all.

Very good player. But he’s not ready for that level yet. But let them blow the bag. They really are going full Woodward at the Bridge. It’s a lovely watch even watching our shite.

Kante is out for another month and Kovacic is also constantly injured.

On Gordon, I rate him quite highly, think there's a very good player in there. Would be a very good pickup for Chelsea.

I think they let Fofana go, 80m for him is madness.

He’s a decent player with good potential from what I’ve seen and I guess it would fit with Tuchel wanting a fluid front line but I think if I was a Chelsea fan I’d want a striker and a centre back, either way it pretty much means we’ve got a free run at De Jong which is the most important thing I take from this.

For the life of me I don’t get this for us. He’s a super talented young player but what we need now is a decisive, clinical forward. For the £40m+ this kid would cost we could surely go to a foreign league and sign a very, very good player without the Premier League tax.

They genuinely have an owner who thinks its FM2022. He thinks football works in this linear way whereby you sign a bunch of players and because they've made a move to a bigger club then they should also automatically play to that level.
