Second season in a row it is happening to me. All these years, despite our form and results, i would watch other games, watch all highlights next day and spend some time on web during the week to see what is happening in PL and around Europe.
At this moment i don't do anything of that. I watch United of course and read about us and that is it. I didn't even have any desire to watch Chelsea-Spurs.

So am i the only one whos desire in football (not counting United games) is at rock bottom at the moment?

Forget us. Will young teenagers around the world grow up supporting this united in coming years?

Well, yeah, of course it does. You’d have to be a masochist to enjoy this crap.

I think I can see a trajectory to what is happening at United. We have to hit rock bottom first, and we are on our way. It feels close. This year is different. Most fans are not blaming the manager. And even when we blame the players, we know where the real rot is in this club. It feels like the beginning of a fundamental change in worldview. And at the end of this is the departure of the Glazers, if not this year then certainly in the next three, and then we will have our club back.

Apart from that, I do love the sport. So I watched the Chelsea-Spurs game yesterday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the antics on the touchline.

They don't and haven't for ages
I’m father to a young teenager who is growing up supporting United. He has many friends in the same boat. Not all kids are glory hunters who switch allegiance if their club is unsuccessful.

Football as a spectacle is less entertaining these days. The game is more bland than it used to be, and pretty much everyone associated with it (including the personality-vacuum players) aren't particularly interesting, or likeable. People like to pretend football is better, basically because teams are more organised now, but it's just made the game robotic and mechanical. There's also the ever widening gulf between the top teams and the rest. I watch out of habit more than anything.

Never, I support the team through thick and thin and despite us being dreadful I still look forward to watching us. Being a season ticket holder helps because I can let my frustration out during the game without looking like a lunatic

I often can't be arsed watching Match of the Day after we've suffered a bad result. So basically, that's most weeks.

In general I think I'm suffering from football overkill over a long period. It's on five or six nights a week all season long pretty much. I always watch it if it's on - usually whilst doing something else - but I don't feel the same excitement anymore. I used to hate the close season, the wait until the first United friendly seemed interminable. Now I love it, I have free time to watch other things on TV, play games, go out more, follow other hobbies. The season started and it didn't really feel like it had been away. I think I'm just a bit jaded with football in general.

Been watching out of duty rather than enjoyment for a long time now. That 'Come on United' energy before kick off is disappearing sooner and sooner into matches these days.

Was gonna get kits for my 2 young kids but changed my mind in case they get bullied

They've been born at the wrong time bless them.

We'll be back though.

Absolutely. I find myself getting more excited about the NFL then I used to be 4-5 years ago. Typically it would be like Football, NFL, NBA. Now I want to say I watch equal parts NFL and football. Obviously the United game feeling is still different though but I have gotten indifferent to watching random/non-Utd teams over the years.

I still love watching football. After so many years of being expected to win, it’s quite nice being shit for a bit.

What someone said before is true though; young people around the world are no longer taking United as their club. Most have an English team, and most nowadays are City, Chelsea or Liverpool.

That is true. Outside UK (where people start to support clubs because of place of birth, parents or something) big clubs get new fans mainly because of results/big players. And then you stay fan for life in bad and good times. I doubt that any kid last 5,6 years started to support United. I see kids wearing City and PSG shirts. Bloody City and PSG. When i was a kid, nobody even knew that that clubs exist :wenger:

I watch less football in general regardless of our mess, but I’ll watch every United game I can because I love the club.

I’m certainly apprehensive about next Monday though.

If I don’t watch a United match when I am free to do so then I doubt I’m exactly a supporter.

I still watch football, especially the Premier League. I've stopped watching United since the start of last season. Watching them messes with my mind and I can't cope with that.

Not really. I'm used to us not being that brilliant anymore, but it still doesn't stop me wanting to watch every game.

This mess can't last forever, I just enjoy the game. This period of poorness will make it feel extra special once we turn it around again.

I just don't let losing effect my mood like it used to anymore.

Qatar World Cup has given me this feeling - United I don’t have any diminished interest for though, this is part of following a football team. At least we can vent on the caf.

I've tended to not bother with other games much (including England in friendlies) but often have it on in the background so I can see goals, red cards, mangers killing each other (we saw you Messrs Tuchel and Conte ha ha) but I was drawn to the Forest game and though it was a really good watch.

But it does hurt to see other teams who can pass the ball to guys in the same colour shirt and work hard so not sure if that will mean a return to watching very live game. I certainly avoid the Scousers!

Yeah absolutely.

I used to really enjoy putting my lineup preferences out there, tuning in to watch United and therefore annoying the gf, and in general keeping myself up date with other teams/leagues.

Bit by bit recent Man Utd have ripped that desire away from me. I can take different failures and getting managerial appointments wrong. But what we have here is the same god damn bunch of failing players earning a crazy living out of not mediocrity but sheer complacency. Add the disgraceful management behind the scenes and we have no one within the club with the real nouse or leadership ability to fix these glaring issues that have been exactly the same for nigh on 10 years. So I'm done.

The fan community won't en mass take part in the dark arts necessary to change the leeches slowly killing us, so yeah..there's better things to take up my leisure time.

Add in Qatar and the Super League debacle, amongst what football has become in general: the actions of Barca, PSG, City rubbing their contraventions in the footballing world's face, and tbh my addiction and real love of all things football has 85% waned.

Not necessarily true. Go to Asia and it's still all Utd and Liverpool, with the odd Arsenal thrown in, even amongst kids. As it always has been.

I love Serie A and international tournaments. I rarely watch the PL outside of United games. At this stage I watch United as if I'm watching a comedy

I prefer to watch United womens team who shows much more pride wearing the United badge, watching the mens make me appreciate the womens team even more! Other than that I watch my Hammarby womens and mens team in sweden and Uniteds mens team struggles has no bearing on my desire to watch that.

Not really. I find myself probably enoying football more in a weird way. I put myself through misery watching Man Utd games and then enjoy watching other games a lot more somehow as there is no sentiment

Yeah. I rarely bother watching anymore.

Only ever really enjoyed playing football or watching United. Never cared enough to watch other teams.

I pretend United don’t exist when watching other games. It feels liberating and I’m reminded just how much I love football.

You are missing a bigger picture. First of all, i am aware that lots of English fans think that we United fans outside of UK are glory hunters. I don't mind that because at the beggining we were i guess. We chose to support a club who had at that moment something special. Some player or style or results... i started 1991 after cup winners cup final for example. But that is how things are. I was not born in Manchester where you are United/City fan by birth. Neither my father was United fan (now my little girl has already United shirt and scarve :wenger: ).

About bigger picture; more fans around a world, more money from sposors and better chance for having better players. That is why is important to get young fans around a world.

Yeah. Football is hard to watch at the moment.

I've been getting more and more into the NBA and NFL as a result though which has been fun.

If you and other chaps/ladies abroad want to get into Utd for whatever reason that's great - crack on! But it really doesn't bother me.

I am talking about desire to watch other games and love for football in general. Not about love for United and desire for watching our games. That thing can't change.
