Gary Neville rated all our transfers into Green, Amber and Red since Fergie retired in 2013.

Out of all the signings he has only 2 which were green and a “success”. Ibrahimovic and Fernandes. 75% of them are in red as failed

Do you agree?

More or less. I’d say James wasn’t that bad because he was useful at times and we made a profit on him.

Bit harsh on Blind, Fellaini, Mata, and James. Should all be yellow.

Overall, the list is directionally correct though.

Blind should be mid tier at least. Maguire, Cavani and Ronaldo are easy red tiers. Shaw is red tier too. Mata should be mid tier. Martial had a good few years before the bad ones, so I'd be tempted to put him mid tier overall even if past few have been red.

It’s certainly incredibly damning on our recruitment and transfer strategy. We have burnt through £1bn in transfer fees and to end up with 75% failed signings.

This is the problem Utd fans have with the glazers which opposing fans don’t get.

An owner giving you money to blow is not the sign of a good owner. The inability of the owners to appoint someone who can use the money effectively is what is damning. You would expect after at least 2-3 years of really bad spending they would learn, but it’s 10 years and they learnt nothing.

In what world is Harry Maguire in the 'Amber' category and Varane for example is in 'Red'?

Stick slabhead to the bottom tier and promote some useful ones from the red category to the middle ground and I'll agree with them. Mata, James, Fellaini were all better signings for you than Maguire.

Green is correct.

James and Blind amber.

English bias on Maguire and Shaw. They're on par with Martial. I'd have them all in red.

Cavani is red. Such an overrated impact. Ronaldo red.

The Glazer's key (perhaps only) performance indicator is “have the club returned decent dividends to us this year”. Yes? Carry on Ed / Richard!

Herrera, Fellaini, Matic, Mata, Cavani, Ronaldo, Blind and Lindelof all had been good servants for United to various degrees. Fred also hasn't been half bad in general.

On the contrary if Bruno keeps on like this for the rest of his United career he'll end up as a failure.

Putting Blind in red and not Maguire when the former basically cost United nothing except his wages and performed usually at a good level for most of his time at the club.

Bruno should be amber. Cavani definitely red. Blind should be amber and Dan James given we made a profit. Otherwise about right.

I don’t see how Neville has Maguire as an amber when he’s achieved absolutely nothing with us and been a part of a shambles. Yet he has players who actually won trophies with us in red.

This list is basically the clear reason why the owners need to go, when you sign so many players and everyone is a failure then questions have to be asked at the top about the people running the club

Decent summary apart from no idea how Maguire is amber when Pogba is red after being a big part of winning 2 trophies and being top scorer one season.

I’d probably promote Martial and James to Amber and move Fred and Cavani to Red. Rest all look ok, which is depressing given how many are in the failure category.

All aren't red. Especially if Cavani is Amber.

Too early to tell on Varane and Sancho.

Would leave Ander and Matic in amber and put Sancho and Varane in there too. Other than that, it's almost all fails.

'tis a silly place
I think signings that a) tie up a large part of our budget and b) negatively impact our options for playing style are the most impactful.

Maguire being amber in this regard is just because Gary Neville doesn't want to treat England players the same way he does others, because he has been as bad a signing or worse than Pogba.

Feet up at home.
Guy literally played one good season out of 8. He has been a shit signing.
No that's not true.

He's had bad ones and good ones and been affected by an awful injury at the same time.

One good season isn't right.

He's also still got time to get back to his best.

It's actually right though.

First season 2014/2015 under LVG : shit, got benched for Blind ultimately.
2015/2016: He got injured.
2016/2017 : Awful, got benched by Blind again.
2017/2018 : Did he even play that one ?
2018/2019 : average, an improvement over the last few seasons though..
2020/2021 : The only good one.
2021/2022 : shit.

And he's awful now.

Maguire and Shaw should 100% be red.

Blind, Fellaini, Lukaku & Mata should be amber.

Having Maguire in Amber with Pogba in red is pretty hilarious. Swap those two

Id have Martial and Blind in amber as well. Martial had two great seasons for us which is more than the majority of these players.
Bruno should be amber.
Pogba is a definite red considering everything. Overall he flopped and flopped hard.

In that case it makes even less sense that James is red and Maguire is Amber
I’m not disagreeing, just the Cavani compared to Mata etc, wouldn’t say Cavani has been better just a short contract, did his job. Mata had massive expectations - maybe failed to live up to them. Still, not saying it’s right, it’s just that they did mention the fee was factored into it.
