Surprised this hasn’t been bumped today.

Knighton has just been on the news saying it’s a consortium looking at removing the Glazers. So not just him. He wouldn’t reveal who is involved but says it would be clear if they get positive engagement with the Glazers.

The news report stated that Jim Ratcliffe is meant to be part of this consortium.
thats very interesting, hope its true

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Those texts look very attention seeking though, no investor worth his salt is going to pull out of a deal because of Stephen, his reach isn’t that far reaching. It’s a drop in the ocean. The guy sounds like a grifter. If Ratcliffe was part of it, he’d be the one doing media, not Knighton.

I think that is because not only is Knighton the one who is saying he cannot reveal who is part of the consortium but he is also the source of the nudge, nudge, wink, wink implication that JIm Ratcliffe is part of the consortium. Jim Ratcliffe is nowhere near anything MK is involved in, one is a very serious and successful businessman and the other is a carnival clown with delusions of grandeur. MK has actually done a great job of pushing up the price for the Glazers with the way he has gone about things and so if anything he has made it less likely a real bidder comes forward.

Why do you people do this to yourselves? This man is a joke. Threatened to sue Steve Howson for calling him out for the fraud he is. Imagine that. Threatening to sue a Youtuber and this is the same person we expect to put together a couple billions to buy united? He's a proper joke riding on the massive fan base discontent for some minutes of fame.

I don’t understand how a hostile bid could even be a possibility when the Glazers basically own all the shares and control the board.

Knighton is know con man . Not a chance this is happening. He just using this as a way to get his name back in the media. Probably to sell a book on how he nearly brought Utd years ago or something

I prefer a big money player swoop in and buy the team at some point. So I'd rather wait even a year or two if it means a big time buyer appears with appropriate resources who is determined to win and restore the legacy.

That would not include Knighton. He's a fan base pipe dream and honestly I wouldn't want to endure him plus a consortium as owners. Doesn't wash for me in terms of it being good for the club.

Btw I am not willing to concede and lose this year for some hope of the losing making something happen. They need to push to get FDJ done and try to settle this midfield down. Focus the rebuild around ETH and at some point the ownership will sort itself.

I don't know if there's any legs to this story, but there is a investment fund in New York (Black Rock inc) that is wealthier than the investment fund who financed the Chelsea takeover.

With the oil money at City and Newcastle, along with Clear View Capital funding Chelsea, it's going to be difficult to compete financially against the aforementioned clubs in the near future. We have to hope someone comes forward soon and makes the Glazers sell.

Even if it was real, I don't like the sound of a NY investment fund.

Just screams Wall Street profiteers and I would expect them to follow the same recipe the Glazers did.

Chelsea are an investment fund too, no?

Crucially, they have Boehly in charge though - not sure how much he put in but he's the head honcho. I didn't know anything about the guy but after this summer and a bit of reading, he's one of those Americans in it to win it and not profit off people's passion for a sport.

If we get another similar prospective owner, it'd be great but I am just pessimistic. He (or she or they) won't even have to spend as much money so quickly because United fans' expectations have been lowered so far we're willing and/or happy to wait.

The new people just need to hire the right people to run this institution and let it grow organically with a 10-year plan for a new stadium, winning the league in 5 and a great women's team.

If a New York investment fund bought United the front man would be someone like a Todd Boehly imo.

All vert premature right now, though.

Who would have thought there would be a story about a planned consortium take over today?

I suspect we will start getting stories about a sporting director once the windows closes and we’ve not bought anyone else, or we get a absolute spanking a week today.

BlackRock wouldn't buy/fund a sports club.

Did StrettyNews also had a source say there was a Saudi bid coming in? Nobody else reporting this, so i would think they are taking for a ride.

I'm speculating over what was said by Stretty News. It probably isn't true, but if a New York investment fund is interested, then they will have the capital to make a big difference whether it's BlackRock or anyone else.

There’s about a 0.00000% chance BlackRock make a move like that.

i recall something like this was briefly reported many months ago, but didnt gain traction. Certainly the American/New York angle

I do recall there being murmurs about a New York bid but as yet nothing has materialised sadly.

I think with how things are shaping up in the EPL, I don't believe the Glazers can finance what will be required to challenge the likes of City, Chelsea and soon Newcastle in the coming years.

Would something like this be success driven? When it first popped up i feared it would be Glazers mk2.

It might start a bidding war if the Knighton consortium has any legs
