People are getting a bit to precious about the specifics of the bloody colour coding.
That graphic was put together to highlight what a shit show our recruitment has been.
Everything they discussed was pretty much spot on.

Lots of those reds arguable amber, martial was good for a bit, same with mata, we got some value from mkhi, and lukaku was ok until he wasnt. But fact is that's a lot of bad. not much good

This is a fair point but to me getting the 'result' wrong is the same as criticising us under OGS and not pointing the finger at the manager.

When the conclusion is so off, the point is mute or very much discounted.

Yeah, you can nitpick how some players are categorized, but the sheer amount of signings in the bad end of the scale is really damning.

I do find it pretty funny that Maguire is somehow only amber, whereas the likes of Martial and Mata are red. Couldn't possibly be related to him being English.

A graveyard of footballers

This is when the problems become terminal. Good players won't come no matter the money on offer because playing for us is a nightmare of humiliation. Relegation actually becomes a real possibility.

i said it in another thread, but we supposedly have 35 million fans in the US. Our friends across the pond should protest at Tampa games, removing the Glazers ability to hide and also creating far more negative exposure as the US media would be all over it and are far more brutal than our own.
In 2020 we had 1.35 million Americans watching the United vs. City game. I think your numbers are way off, although it's hard to gauge accurately. Maybe those 2020 viewers have grown, but even doubling or tripling the fans would still put it at just under 4 million.

Of course the blame is on the owners. Even if they’re allowing money to be spent, the people who they are putting in charge to spend it are absolutely not fit for purpose at top level football.

Newcastle had their new owners come in, and within one January window structured and organised everything better than us in the past 10 years. Got a decent manager, made some smart signings, and immediately the club has turned around.
Shame they were forced to do it on such a minuscule budget, too. I heard they hosted bake sales to raise those funds.

What a pointless exercise this is, don't know what this supposed to show. Our transfers have been shite, doesn't take a list to establish that.
Might be a little harsh on Mata Blind and even Martial marginally, but it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

I’m not sure what your point is? They’ve not really spent anything more than we would.

They signed Guimaraes for £35m and immediately have a midfielder better than anything we’ve had for years now.

You can disagree with some of the placings. I certainly do. Herrera should be in green. Maguire in should be in red. Mata, Fellaini and Blind(and possibly a few more) should be in amber. The jury is still out on Sancho and Varane, so it's harsh to put them in red.

But you can't argue with their overall point. Even if we make the adjustments I wrote above, around 60% of our signings are still complete failures. This is actually not that far from normality, though. Signings at the top level are more or less a coin flip.

The biggest issue is how less than 10% of our signings are good(green). Even if we bump Herrera up to green then that's just 3 green signings in 9 years. And one of them(Zlatan) was 35 years old. This is the biggest tragedy.

Red is better viewed as;

- Would you pay the same amount of money again for that player if you got identical performances from them.

Mata? No. Martial? Never in a million years. The reds are completely justified when viewed that way. Only argument I could have would be Blind. I’d have him as Green. Cheap, did everything we needed him to. Sold for healthy money when not wanted.

Maguire is the most expensive defender of all time. Amber is ridiculous.

Like Rangnick said you simply have to get recruitment right to succeed. It doesn’t matter how much money you throw at it your hit rate must far exceed the fails.

The Glazers own the club and are responsible for how it operates.

Its beggars belief how anyone can try and absolve them of responsibility.

On the "But they spent money" argument, it is true that they have spent large amounts and the club management have been super crap in spending it the way they have. From our CEO to the scouts and negotiation teams, we are hugely incompetent in buying and selling. So there is an argument that the money spent has been wasted. The money we spent is more than enough to come up with acompetitive team and a competitive manager.

Having said that, the buck stops with the Glazers, because everyone at the club are their employees. So they are answerable and directly responsible for the quality of the staff.
The main problem with Glazers is that they don't seem to care much about football. They don't even seem to be good at business, because it is unbelievable that they don't see the need to employ good employees to get good output. Or maybe the output they are looking for (money) is flowing well.

I will never rate Neville again for allowing Jamie bloody Redknapp to speak to him in that way.

I dont care what he said to that idiot in private ( if anything ), he should have come right out and said " dont you ever talk to me like that again you bloody imbecile "

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
I can't bring myself to say that... I can't... oh hell: nothing we didn't already know but not wrong
Carragher has often spoken sense during the downfall of Man Utd and many times sounds like he actually cares about the club…

I think any football fan who actually cares about the PL and English football wants the Glazers removed from our league. What they’ve done is criminal.

I have no respect whatsoever for any rival fan that at this point sneers at Utd’s situation. It shows a complete lack of class imo.

If this was being done to Liverpool or City I would genuinely want the owners out, as it’s immoral ownership and has no place in the game.

That said, I identify as a football fan in general, rather than as a fan of any specific club (though I loathe Liverpool).

Have to admit i wanted them to be rid of Hicks and Gillette. I was a bit surprised about it but didnt want to see them picked apart by vultures.
