Hazard was very quick, and ridiculously strong for someone of his size. David Silva is a good shout though, he was never quick, and while strong on the ball due to his low center of gravity and agility, it’s definitely one part of the Spaniard’s game Sancho could and should be trying to emulate.

You mentioned Pires in another comment, but there are similarities there. Pires struggled during his early Arsenal career, and faced very similar criticisms to what Sancho is getting now. A lot of people said Pires wasn’t physics enough for the PL, and wouldn’t be able to succeed for this reason. While you said Pires didn’t need certain conditions to perform, he was part of one of the best left flanks the league has seen. Ashley Cole’s work at LB, combined with how Henry would frequently vacate the central corridor allowed Pires to function in the areas that maximised his strengths and minimised his weaknesses.

This isn’t to say Sancho has Neymar’s technique, or that Sancho hasn’t been shite. He needs to improve on many facets of his game, as well as his decision making and ability to impose himself during matches. There’s definitely a player there though even if he has been garbage
I don't think Hazard is quicker than Sancho though but he does have that low centre of gravity so you are correct.
Pires struggled in year one only. In his second year he got 13 goals 18 assists. He had Ashley Cole both seasons. My reference was more to Pires peforming for multiple sides including Villareal, Metz, France, Marseille and not just one team like Sancho. It wasn't about just his Arsenal displays.

Not United. I'm optimistic he'd reproduce his Dortmund form for every cohesive top team out there. City, Liverpool, Bayern, Chelsea, PSG, Arsenal, Barca, Madrid, ...

I'd be more worried how United manages to make almost every player look shit
Grealish is hardly performed for city who coincidentally let Sancho go so thats nonsense. We've just seen Chelsea let Werner go after barely 2 seasons. It's not plug and play at the top teams. You have to have the right attributes. He would be like Nicolas Pepe at Arsenal.

Well, we haven't seen him in a top team yet so I'd say even if you were right, it would be too early to judge ;)

I might be underrating Sancho's speed here, but over the first few yards Hazard was really able to get away in a manner that I haven't seen Sancho do consistently in the PL (yet). That burst of pace combined with his agility and fat ass meant Hazard was able to penetrate in a way that Sancho can't (yet). For the talk of systems, Hazard basically was the system for Chelsea. He was able to influence games in an individualistic manner that would actually be very beneficial for United right now. Sancho seems to be struggling to add any real penetration and presence and I think a big part of that is the lack of strength and the ability to get away from defenders. With the system around him spluttering he’s not been able to use his creative passing ability either

Fair point! I meant more that a lot of the problems Pires faced early on in his Arsenal career are very similar to the ones Sancho faced, and while I’m not absolving Sancho of his displays, I think he can be someone who can get past these problems.

He's definitely the closest thing to Neymar there is among young players. Stylewise they are so similar, I wonder how one can ignore that.
How good is Sancho’s left foot?

Not as good as Neymar's, not even relatively speaking. But I doubt many people think Neymar's two footedness is what characterizes him as a player ;) In terms of playing style, they are very similar, though Neymar is still a level above Sancho in terms of talent and quality and likely always will be. Which is nothing to be ashamed of, though. I'd put Sancho's work ethic ahead of Neymar's though.

For all of his struggles during his first season Pires did still manage to score 10 goals in all competitions.

Mind you he was older than Sancho, had seven seasons as a first team regular under his belt as opposed to three for Sancho, and had about 60 odd caps for France ready, which is all important to consider.

Pires is also a little bigger than Sancho too, his struggles to adapt were mental and not physical. Not that I'm suggesting that Sancho's struggled are due to any physical weakness.

I definitely believe he is.
Hazard had that acceleration needed to get rid of defenders 1 on 1
Sancho does not
Yeah he 100% was. Football isn't really about top speed anyway, it's not often you ever get enough time and space, it's about acceleration and dynamic movements. Hazard was a rocket from a standing start but he'd comfortably lose in a 100m to Lukaku for example.

Sancho is fast enough to play as a wide attacker, he just doesn't have the acceleration to take on defenders, his game is more about movement, passing and creating - it's good to have someone like that in the side if ETH can get his play style to work, the issue is we have quite a lot of players who aren't that fast - Fred, Bruno, McT, Ronaldo, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot...that's the bulk of the starting XI who I'd say are relatively average pace to slow.

Pires was just better than Sancho, has a argument against Giggs as the best LW in the history of the PL. Fabulous player, was a heavy scorer from wide areas before it became the standard tactic, but was still a creator first, could beat defenders on both sides but also pick a pass and great game intelligence. Was like the best qualities of Sancho and Grealish but a far better athlete than Sancho and played much quicker in releasing the ball early than Grealish.

Nah, I just enjoy good football. Watched lots of Dortmund primarily because of Sancho. I don't even watch half as much of them since he left Dortmund.

Looking at what we're reportedly looking to give casemiro it's insane what we've signed Sancho on, no matter how talented you think he is no unproven talent deserves that as their first contract, what a big mistakes that was.

Needs to get the finger out tonight. It'll be depressing watching him walk backwards when Robertson runs past him otherwise.

That was really a great goal. Annoying how he can show these few moments of quality while the majority of his game comes off uninspiring to say the least. Needs to show these moments more often.

Lovely goal and he worked his balls off in a manner we have rarely seen from him.

Great goal. Had some good plays in the second half. He worked hard defensively, though, so seemed to be sitting deeper.

Been on his back recently but took his chance well and did work hard. Don't think I've screamed that hard for someone to shoot since Rashford sat down the Brighton lot.

He hasn’t scored many for us but he has scored against City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Can be the difference maker in these kind of games. Wonderful goal.

He was our most composed attacker (until Martial was subbed in), and also our hardest working.

Great goal, was good on the ball when he got it. If we can consistently get him the ball and give him options it will be great.

A couple of assists vs Spurs and a good performance at OT vs Arsenal.

Second against Villarreal to win the Champions League group too. No doubt he needs to do more but the talent is abundant.

Tracked back very well tonight. There was a big difference to him on the wing compared to Rashford when Martial came on.

Great performance on the offense too
