I wish they’d both agree to tear up the contract and let him go Even if we cannot get a striker in.

If Chelsea took him, he would score a bag full. ETH and the club would look foolish, especially if the form we are showing doesn't not dramatically improve.
If that were to happen, it might be worth it in the long run. What’s going on at the club now could see us get dramatically worse.

Im just not sure getting rid of Ronaldo is the answer. I feel the stories are over inflated and he is not to blame for what we are seeing on the field.

ETH is more to blame than Ronaldo. He has the defense and DDH playing out the back when they clearly cant.

These players can absolutely go feck themselves, doesn't even matter if Ronaldos attitude is bad or not thats irrelevant, the idea that they could shift the blame for their perfomances on to arguably the greatest ever player to kick a ball because he isn't happy the club is in such a shambles/or winning stuff is beyond absurdity.

Edit: Just no accountability at all is there its the blame game already and you know what, next its the manager.

On the Ronaldo thing am I wrong in thinking that before he arrived, even though we were inconsistent, the team spirit was generally good and the players fought for each other? It seems we've seen precious little of that since he's come in.
I think Pogba was ruining team spirit back then, so we had to get rid of him. Maybe Martial too. He's still here............for NOW.....

There wasn't a problem with team spirit when we were finishing in the top 4 and Pogba was here then. Why would he be ruining the team spirit all of a sudden? It's a half-assed theory I was just throwing out there any way.

What’s that supposed to prove?

You have literally every media source coming out and saying the same. Simon Stone alone means this isn’t bollocks.
That’s not true though? There are plenty that are saying the complete opposite that have been posted in this thread.

It’s the journalist not the publication. Something you are failing to grasp.
Well I guess you must know him a lot better than me. I’ve never heard of the guy but I guess he seems to be followed my some other reliable journalists.

EDIT: he’s saying the opposite to what others i see him following are saying on twitter.

Honestly, I’m really only gonna get my info from Fab. Everything else is just paper talk for me.

Ah, yes - his best mate Eddy. Who can ignore testimony from such a stellar source?

Are any of these five or six clubs planning on actually buying him any time soon? Would be grand.

(I suppose it's Joel blocking the move: All the best clubs in Europe are just dying to pay him half a million quid per week to imitate a penguin - but Joel's standing firm. State of the world, eh?)

Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
The Glazers sponsors, especially Team Viewer must have a clause that has Ronaldo as a player with United.
Shirt sales for example.
Its about revenue.
ten Hag is stuck with a player who is a negative to the team. And he cannot play to his expectations.
If I were independent I would want ten Hag to leave.
He deserves better. The Glazers have totally conned him.
Rebuilding a team is one thing. But to have all these obstacles put in front of him by the owners is unacceptable.
The budget that is clearly limited by whatever conditions that are tied to the loan means he cannot buy anyone else should he even be able to get FdJ.
Marshall, Rashford Sancho and Ronaldo are his forward players.
The back up is supposed to be from the squad which is a couple of levels below.

IF we do get anyone in, it will be after we sell players.

Anyway, back on topic (sort of).

The idea that Ronaldo deserves better (it's understandable that he wants away), etc. Basically - he deserves CL football at this stage of his career, he shouldn't have to waste a full season playing for a non-CL team.

Okay - fine, yes.

But there is no indication whatsoever that he informed the club that he wanted out before...yes, when? He apparently had a talk with ETH which was "generally positive" at some point before pre-season.

ETH is on record saying that he had talked to Ronaldo and that he (ETH) was looking forward to working with him.

ETH was not hired (and certainly did not talk to Ronaldo) until after it became clear that United would not play in the CL this season.

So - why did this paragon of professionalism and elite mentality not announce straight away that he would be wanting a move?

My guess is this: Mendes has been on the case for months, trying to secure a deal. But Ronaldo didn't want to come out and say it (not privately either) because he didn't want to burn any bridges/piss off United prematurely. But then, as time marched on and it became increasingly clear that he wasn't that attractive (to any club he fancied), he became more desperate.

All of which is understandable - from his perspective. That is - from his personal, purely selfish perspective. But it's really hard to paint it in a positive light if you want to insist that he's either a) a stand-up guy or b) a "United legend" or c) a super professional guy whose individual goals are aligned with those of the team he happens to play for.

It would obviously have been better for United if he had made it clear from day one (that is, when it became clear that we would not play in the CL this season - i.e. months ago) that he would be pushing for a transfer.
I'm not making excuses for Ronaldo, but I do think Mendes' role in this saga hasn't been considered enough.

United's failure to qualify for the CL would give Mendes an opportunity to broker one final big-money deal for his most lucrative client. It looks like he thought he would have no difficulty finding Ronnie a CL club and fully supported / encouraged his desire to leave United. Maybe he would have become reconciled to his lot in the Europa if Mendes had been more circumspect, established that nobody wanted him following discreet enquiries, and sat him down and told it like it is. Of course that might have just had the effect of really enraging him.

Hopefully we can find a striker and let little Ronnie go, should've been done a while ago.

Agreed, something similar happened with Falcao at Monaco, it ended with a loan at United.
