Who, with me, believes we can win the premier league?

He went by the name of Wayne Rooney
Not this season. I do believe we are targeting the right players though, so we should be up there competing in the next couple of years. Need to stick by our manager though, we'll go through much tougher runs of form then we have encountered in the first two games.

Oh come on. We won’t play against a championship quality midfield every week.

I know what the reactions to this may be, but I know I can't be the only believer here.

Casemiro yet to come, ETH building something big here, a manager who is not afraid to drop players and be flexible with tactics, City and Pool dropping points.

No one can stop us
Behave yourself.

Not this year. Don't let one game mask the issues.

There are question marks over every player in our starting line up. One game doesn't change that.

Liverpool were poor and it felt like nothing fell for them tonight. They have a lot of starters out - Jota, Tiago, Nunez, Matip.

We played well, but lets see if we can put a run together.

Good job no one is getting carried away eh :smirk:. We're still miles off, but if we play with that same tenacity and intensity we did tonight for most of the season, top 6 should be attainable!

Can see this thread going down as one of the classics in 12 months time.

We could win it if about 5 other teams have 30 point deductions. Even then it’s still a very slim chance.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of euphoria after a surprise win over Liverpool, but we have no right to speak of league trophies yet. If we're within touching distance of the league leader during the festive season let's make it really festive and openly speak of a PL trophy. Until then, let's remain humble and keep our feet on the ground before reach for the stars.

I go into every season thinking we can win the Prem, this year is no different.

Heres to myself and everyone else who predicted we would beat these losers in the matchday thread.

Please don't jinx us. We need to take it one game at a time.....

If we keep improving though, I can definitely see us challenging next season.

League's a stretch too far for me, but the Europa League as winner at 7/1 was too good to turn down.

If they can bring in FDJ, Antony, Gakpo, and a keeper I think we then have the players to challenge the top 5. But would probably still be a bit of a longshot. It would be an unbelievable coaching job to put a team together that quickly even with the signings, to play at that level.

All I want this year is top 6, a strong Jan transfer window, and the Glazers out.

Hahaha easy tiger. Let's first see if we are building toward something. House isn't built with a single brick. We have long, long way to go and we don't even know yet if we are on the right path. Let's enjoy this win. No reason to get carried away.

Nope, i don't think we got the depth of squad to play that way and intensity for 60 + games a season. You look at strength in depth City, Liverpool (yes they are in a slump) even Spurs and Chelsea now.. These things come into play over a 60 game season..

This season? Absolutely not, unless something drastic happens before the window closes.

Assuming we don't bring in more players, if everything goes right for us in terms of form and avoiding major injuries we might have an outside chance of competing for 4th, but I think our true talent level is still around 5th right now.

In order to legitimately compete for the league moving forward we need, at the very least, a RB, a CB, a box-to-box CM, a winger and a striker.

We've only won one game, playing ole counter attcking football. When ETH get the right personel in which will probably be next summer then we can talk.

De gea booting it long out of play isnt in the ETH playbook for long term. A neccessity for now as de gea cant play in out the back.

We were talking about relegation last weekend and now winning the premier league after one game.
