Thought this was interesting from Conte saying this is perfect time for Spurs to offer Kane a new deal. He seems under the impression Kane would just sign it there and then.

Surely he's the last player who'd sign another one at Spurs. Seemingly wanted to leave twice in last three years and denied so don't get why he'd just meekly bow down to them and stay, at least see how this season plays out.

Next summer he'll have just 12 months left on his deal so he's going to be in a very strong position to finally move on if that's his wish. Bayern Munich out of nowhere were making positive suggestions about him so that looks to be a genuine option.

It would also be amusing to see of all football people Daniel Levy seeing a 80-100m asset slowly creep towards a free transfer, he'll be sold next summer if that's the indication.

Would you sign a new deal if you were in his position as it's going to be pretty much the last major one of his career before perhaps he fancies MLS in his mid 30s.

He’d be stupid to sign a new deal with them now.

So I image it will be announced any day.

No. I've said it before but not having a trophy is a taint on his legacy, no matter what his personal achievements are. I'd go to Bayern if the rumours are true and pick up an easy trophy.

There’s no way he should sign a new contract for the reasons you state. Even if he feels Spurs are really going places, he may as well wait until next summer and take stock. That said, he doesn’t seem to have been well advised in the past, so they’ll probably announce a 5 year deal in a couple of weeks.

I don't get this way of thinking. If he went to Bayern or PSG and won the league would that really mean anything considering they win the league almost every year anyway? What's so amazing about that and how does it make him a better player playing and winning in a much weaker league?

He is a Spurs fan and it's his dream to play for Spurs and win things with the club. He may well leave of course but he may decide to see our his career here as he can see the progress we are making and because we now have Conte. Winning a trophy with Spurs would mean much more to him than winning the league with Bayern in my opinion. I could be wrong of course but let's see what happens.

It doesn't make him a better player but when people look in the history books they'll look at his career and see he's done absolutely nothing with it. It's the missing piece of the jigsaw. For all his exploits his goals have never fired Spurs to do anything. His goals could and likely would fire Bayern/PSG/Whoever to a title. Not just that but Bayern and PSG are capable of being genuine CL contenders. Spurs aren't and he's never done it at the cutting edge of a tournament or league.

His legacy would be far better being the top Premier League goalscorer in history than it would leaving next summer to pick up a domestic double at PSG.

Of all the England players unlikely to move abroad, I'd have Kane pretty high up on that list to be honest.

I agree with that so I would wait until next summer to decide on a contract. Yes, you got to the CL final and he stunk it out. For me, he still needs to have that trophy and an excellent semi-final/final type performance that we have seen other striking giants of this era like Benzema/Lewa put in. I know injuries have been unkind to him at times when you have reached those places but it's still something that will always be looked upon as a failing.

Yes, he will be seen as a PL great but unfortunately for me he falls way short of Lewa/Benzema because they are multi-league and CL winners while being huge components to their team.

He has serious shot of winning CL with both those teams, that's the difference. Perhaps Spurs will have a decent run in competition this year given it's a light group but you'd then need luck in group stages to get anywhere near the final again.

Same with why he wanted to go to Man. City but that ship has sailed now with Haaland signing.

12 months ago he was playing in europa conference league.

If he leaves next summer then he should have 3-4 serious shots of winning CL with either Bayern or PSG, how many at Spurs?

Perfect time for Kane to negotiate the deal if he wants to stay. Could easily get highest paid in the league type salary, or just move on to a bigger club

What a strange way of framing it. What part what Conte said indicate that he thinks Kane would just sign it there and then or that he'd meekly bow down to us?

People are so funny with footballer contracts, always talking as if they're forced into signing these things. Nobody forced Kane to sign the last one and if he signs another one, nobody will have forced him to sign this one either.

Would be incredibly surprised if Kane went abroad until he's beaten Shearer's record, whatever club that may be at.

For what its worth, if I was Kane, I probably wouldn't sign a new contract.

Sometimes players are worth more to the club that whatever random valuation is put on them. Kane is worth far more to us than 80-100m million, both last season and this season too. I'd support keeping him then until his contract ends rather than selling him for 100 million, when that just about gets you a Grealish, Fofana, Anthony, Gvardiol, Cucurella etc in this market. Levy made the right decision there.

Oh so we just don't count it then? Let's take Leicester's title away from them as well then shall we?
Are you so small time that simply appearing in the final and not putting up much of a fight is like winning a league title for you?

He will likely wait till the end of this season to decide if he will stay or not and that's fair enough. If he wasn't a Spurs fan he would have left about 3 years ago to be honest.

Spurs did very well to reach the CL final in 2019.

However in next three years they lost to Leipzig in last 16, then didn't qualify and lost to Zagreb in QFs in europa and whole fiasco of conference league last season.

So obviously playing for Spurs means it's hard to be in business end of CL compared to Bayern or PSG as no one will blink if they're playing in semi finals in May whereas it would be a pretty good achievement for Spurs.

That's what Kane will be weighing up as he moves into his 30th year given someone like Benzema is better than ever and winning CLs for Real Madrid at age of 35.

Kane still has plenty of chances to win serious stuff in next 3-4 years, just has to find right environment. He'll see how this season goes regardless as Spurs are in their best place to seriously challenge since 2018.

Mate if Arsenal offered me a professional contract right now I'd bite their arm off and I fecking despise them

In all seriousness though, why do you think he is still at Spurs? It's because it's his boyhood club and he has strong links here.

It's the perfect time for Spurs but realistically Kane should wait a year and see what happens this season. If Spurs are as advertised and press on, finish top 4 and look like they can mount a legitimate title challenge in a year or 2 I guess it makes sense for him to sign. There's probably as good a chance that they implode and Conte walks though given his track record.

Realistically though where are his options? I'd say he currently doesn't have any good one's in the PL, City ship has passed, Liverpool have just spent big on Nunez, United are currently further away from challenging than Spurs by the looks of it, and moving to Chelsea would surely just destroy his Spurs' legacy.

There's potentially options abroad but I question whether he'd want to move and give up on that PL record goals tally. If he feels he's got another 3 good years in him after this one he could definitely surpass Shearer.

You'd have to imagine we're his most likely destination next summer if he doesn't sign a contract and IF we get CL and look like we're going places again. City don't need him, and he surely wouldn't go to Arse or Chelsea. Think he has a few years left in him at this level and would really elevate us as contenders again.

No chance he goes abroad just to pick some titles with Bayern or PSG which frankly would be meaningless to him. Beating Shearer and becoming the highest ever premier league goal scorer means so much more.

Unpopular opinion but if he doesn’t sign a new contract with spurs and we get top 4. I would be over moon if we land him. Still has 3-4 years left and should cost around 70-80m . The rewards of having him as a striker in our team when there is already an absolute dearth of strikers in football far outweighs the risks.

If he signs a new deal he’ll surely be the greatest striker ever to win feck all.

To me it's not meaningless at all. As a player you are always assessed against your peers. He has never done it at the business end of a major tournament or league compared to players like Lewa and Benzema who have and will be looked at far more fondly than he will when time passes because currently he has nothing to show for all those goals. Heck, even Lukaku who is a lesser player went to Inter and won the league while being POTY. Kane has never done something like that and likely never will if he stays at Spurs and I'm surprised people don't think that is something which he should question.

I agree, it'd be a great signing for us.

Personally I think he messed up when he signed his extension in 2018. His previous contract would have expired in 2022 so he would have definitely moved by 2020 or 2021.

He shouldn't have started that final, to be fair - he was injured for quite a while beforehand, and then there was about a month gap between the final and the end of the league season.

It would be interesting to see him in a side that can contend the CL - Kane has a great scoring record in it (the fastest to reach 20 goals in its history before Haaland). I think it is time he moved on, but not convinced he will want to move to Bayern Munich.

In all seriousness he’s still at Spurs because he stupidly signing a 5 year deal and believed Levy would let him go if a good offer came in.

He literally went on strike to try and force a move to City.

He's still at Spurs because he signed a long term contract when his boyhood club were doing incredibly well and competing for trophies. A combination of Poch burnout, lack of money due to the stadium and poor transfer (and manager) decisions meant we went down the shitter.

There was never anything about letting him go if a good offer came in and, more importantly, a good offer never did come in.

Kane is still at Spurs because Levy refused to negotiate and sell him. He had the whole interview with Neville and the big fiasco that window with city.
