He's getting better and he must maintain this form throughout the season to make that right back spot his and most importantly not let things go to his head.

Dalot is just showing what happens when you get a manager that trusts you. He is playing really well atm. I quite like his passing, looks forward and is not afraid to zip the ball into midfield.

Everyone clamouring to spunk a load on a RB this window so it's really pleasing to see DD picking up the baton and running with it. I really hope he nails down that spot as he's been excellent the last few games. I always thought he had quality and potential, seems like ETH is helping him reach it.

Fast becoming a cult hero and fan favourite. I hope he goes from strength to strength as it means the need for a RB is reduced (and Laird can make a suitable understudy).

He’s been top. Shows you what faith and proper coaching can do for a player. If we went off people’s opinion here than he would have been out of the club ages ago.

Been amazed with him all games so far, playing really well. Especially enjoying his fighting spirit which seems to resonate well with Martinez and De Gea and lifts the rest of the team.

He always had the technical ability, just needed to improve his concentration, decision making, reading and positioning which he has seen improvements recently.

He suffered from serious injury problems when he first came. Then, he was seen as Mourinho’s pet player and so was not really trusted by post-Mourinho managers.

he seems to have really benefitted from extended run of games during loan seasons at AC Milan. I think we have generally done him a disservice. Now under ETH, he is being trusted and so he is keen to rest the trust

The level of improvement is frankly shocking

Here's to hoping it's sustained!

Looks like he'll turn out to be better than Ricardo Pereira after all. Always knew he would :wenger:

Showed what he could do last year. One of the best passing full backs in the league. Great in the tackle too.

I reckon he could have a fantastic season for us this year. The whole team should be better than last year and that'll only help him.
Called it. :D

What a well balanced team does is cover each others faults and heightens the positives.

The center backs are very commanding and can take charge, meaning De Gea doesn't have to worry about something he isn't comfortable with. Maritnez is a rough forceful defender, and that suits Varane. Malacias desire, determination and tenacity helps the others fight on. Balance and support helps Dalot. Varanes height helps Martinez.

All of these guys combine to cover each others faults and to really work well together.

He is putting some top class performances. If he was some shiny new toy, this place would be crazy about him.
That is why i didn't want new rb (unless some truly world class). Dalot will become great asset for us. Because that top coaches do. Make players better.

One of the reasons Ajax have been successful over the last few years is the relationship between the full back and the wingers. Antony had a great relationship with Mazaroui. I hope he can do the same with Diogo. We saw already yesterday how hard Antony works defensively

He was always tidy on the ball and good going forward, but defensively he lacked aggression and timing. He would pussy foot into tackles and somehow get beaten easily.

I still stick by Danjuma destroyed him so hard he took a good look at himself and said 'never again'. He was a different man after that happened.

He can still get better and better too.

He has been very good, I've doubted him but there's no denying he's in the best form of his United career currently.

That was rough to watch, but yeah, defensively he's not been done quite like that since.

Impressive. I’ve craved a really dominant RB since the Paul Parker days, would be great to see him continue this development and consolidate his place.

I know that 10 years without PL trophy and our awful displays last few years take its part in our opinion regarding players but man, we became spoiled bunch.
Dalot is showing that he can be pretty good fb when coach, system and his partners in defence are good. Of course, it will take one one bad game where fans will jump on him and say that he is dross

«Wan Bissaka is far better going forward than Dalot, who is useless in every phase.»

An actual take on RedCafe less than three months ago. Insane! So weird how many in here prefered AWB to Dalot. Makes zero sense.

His competitor is non - footballer ,he start regardless any dip of form. This guy is arguably our most talented RB for the last 30 years or something.

Because awb was Ole's signings, there are people desperately wanted to see him succeed, ignoring all his blatant limitations as footballer and keep talking about how good his slide tackle is , even though that skill set is only good for outdated, finished, dinosaur type of football aka parking the bus. Meanwhile Dalot was Mourinho's signing , these same people already wrote Dalot off within months for reason like "he must have been shite because ole didn't use him" ignoring the fact that his skillset and attributes ( comfortable with both feet , pacy , strong in the air , technically gifted ) suit modern football the most , thing they used to mock Mourinho with. If he was Ole signing's or played for another club, majority of our fanbase would have hyped him up to the moon with the immense potential he has. All these mental gymnastics proven to be pointless. I remember Ricky from United stand fan channel said "Wan Bissaka , when he has the ball ,he is like a fish riding a bike" "Dalot is like Paolo Maldini compared to Awb" "when we have a new manager , Harry Maguire, wan bissaka , will not be in this team" about 2-3 years ago, how accurate was that eh ?

Hated, adored, never ignored.
ETH already knew months ago. If anyone remembers when the other players were seeking assurances Dalot was the name ETH reportedly wanted to work with. His competition was also the one person told to leave. ETH already knew he would elevate him but I never imagined it would be this much.

I always maintained that his defensive frailties were more due to bad team defending and a lack of organization, rather than a lack of individual ability. Maguire next to him just doesn't work, unlike Varane. Dalot has always been very good with his movement on and off the ball, always been good in the air, always been good on the ball (not spectacular like TAA but good all the same)... It's just been his final ball that was shit. A good system doesn't rely on individual creativity for a fullback to improve his final ball. And that's what we're seeing with him. Only 23, but I'd bet that he'll be a long term starter and is seen as such. More likely we get a depth RB to replace AWB than a starter.

Agreed on the bolded, it was also obvious in the game vs Brighton, the first goal Trossard was able to easily pick a pass and Dalot just didn't engage with Trossard right away, Sancho didn't come back in time and McTominay didn't engage too, which shows us the lack of defensive organization that you mentioned.

Since then, I can see he has improved with the team improving, he is also less tentative in his defending and goes out to engage the attacker right away and sticks very close to them, preventing them from running and crossing, which has been evident in his battles against Diaz, Harvey and Martinelli, though he struggled a bit against Adam Armstrong who was able to squeeze past him few times.

I had heard such good things about him at Milan and I just brushed it off thinking it was due to an average league.

Has shown me what that Serie A performances were about.

That can happen if greenwood isn't tracking back and neither is pogba in right side of midfield and then lingard.

With antony dalot will excel because antony tracks back and puts in a defensive shift.

I heard the oposite actually, I thought he struggled at Milan initially but was finally able to become a starter at WB.

We didn't want a significant fee for him either and yet they chose to walk away.

What’s great about him is that he is 2 footed and can also play LB.

I always like having a double sided fullback in the squad.
