Fotbal Club Sheriff, commonly known as Sheriff Tiraspol or simply Sheriff and nicknamed The Wasps, is a Moldovan professional football club based in Tiraspol, a city located in the unrecognised breakaway state of Transnistria. In summer 1996, the football team Tiras made its debut when it was chosen for participating in Division B of the National Championship of Moldova. Before the second leg, Sheriff Company became the general sponsor of the team. On 4 April 1997, the sports club of the same name was established and headed by Company President Victor Gushan. The team was entrusted with the task to enter the National Division of the Championship of Moldova.

Most experts were of the opinion that Sheriff would become the main opponent to the multiple Champion of Moldova – Zimbru from Chisinau. But Sheriff went a step further, and have since established a strict monopoly by amassing 20 championship titles, 11 Cups and 7 Super Cups – all competition records. On the European stage, Sheriff has reached the group stage of the UEFA Europa League on five occasions and became the first ever Moldovan side to reach the group stages of the 2021–22 UEFA Champions League, where they would go on to beat eventual champions Real Madrid. Sheriff plays its home games at the Sheriff Stadium, to which the club moved in 2002.

Tough one, but also no reason to rest players. First XI and this should be a wrap. The only question is who goes into the 9 position?

Best XI if the PL fixtures are cancelled
May as well, theres an international break right after next weeks fixtures. With the last PL games being the weekend of the 3rd and not resuming until the 1st of October, thats a whole month of not playing PL football if they don't have next weekends games go ahead.

Such a pain in the arse, this is. It's a bit of a lost opportunity now to give minutes to our youngsters and fringe players.

I'm sorry but why is this going ahead? Does this club not have any kind of respect for the crown? We proudly sing "long to reign over us" but in their greatest hour of need we forget all about them and pretend they don't exist. They need us more than ever right now. Now is simply not the time for football. No no no. This is so not right.

Well this game is a must win I guess after losing to Sociedad (especially for finishing 1st in the group).

Will surely be strong first 11 after having a rest this weekend.

Why would Dubravka play after not playing against Sociedad? Also expect McT to come back in as Casemiro was obviously still rusty last Thursday.

I'd go with the prem XI personally.

    DDG
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    McT Eriksen
    Antony Bruno Sancho

Why? interested to know about Sheriff..
they were eletric against Madrid last season in the champions league, I'm sure they'll be up for it, They'll defiantly put up a fine showing for their fans at home.

Gotta go full strength. Not for the sake of the competition really, but we have to ensure the continuity of the emerging first XI.

Yes and most importantly, lose this game and we could be in serious danger of going out in the group stages of the Europa league which is our best chance of a trophy this season. Add to that only one premiership game and then the international break and some new signings settling in and some firt eleven players needing a bit of confidence and progression....

I wouldnt change much. Maybe just take Eriksen out who I feel will need resting at times over the season and pit Casemeiro in to get his fitness up and understanding with team mates....also adds to us defensively. Sancho, Rashford and Antony up front and the back four that has doen so well so far and not yet the time to give Dubravka minutes.

Think changes should come from the bench, maybe a couple of youngsters can get a spot there over the likes of Fred

Casemiro needs game time defo, looked really short of match fitness and not up to speed with the games so far. Dubravka as well to start see if he can challenge DDG.

If Leeds is cancelled we may as well go with our strongest 11 for this .

    100% ^

The squad had its rotation against Sociedad, so it's time for the first team to return.

Would be weird if we don't don't start with Dubravka in goal, we paid like 2-3m for having him here for one year, need to give him chances in matches like this. Let him play all EL games, like we did with Romero.

Varane and Lindelöf/Maguire to start together with Wan Bissaka and Malacia, Dalot could need a rest to stay fit and in form for the PL. Malacia has played a lot but Shaw wasn't even on the bench last game and Brandon Williams has not even been a option this season. Can we bring home Fernandez? Malacia will need a rest eventually.

Casemiro should start again, we need him to find his place in the team and get to know his teammates. But I am not sure who needs to rest more when it comes to Eriksen or Bruno. Both of them has played almost all minuted in Premier League and got 45 minutes each last EL game. Bruno is the best presser but Eriksen covers more ground during 90 minutes and both of them are very important for us, Eriksen as the deep playing CM that can carry the ball and Bruno as the pressing number 10 then can make that final pass through the defense. One of them to start as number 10 and Fred or McTominey together with Casemiro. Don't think we can give them both 90 minutes on a Thursday night in Moldova when we have Leeds at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Upfront, Rashford should start since he didn't last game and should have fresh legs to run through and behind Sheriffs defense. Antony is still trying to find the rhythm and may be better of if he can start on the bench and get around 30 minutes and save energy for the weekend. Sancho and Elanga to start on the wings most likely. If Martial is fit, then he should get some time as well. Garnacho is another option for ETH, while Charlie McNiell would love to show the manager and supporter more of his qualities.

    Possible lineup:

    --------------------------Dubravka
    Wan Bissaka Varane Maguire Malacia
    ---------------------Casemiro Fred
    ----------------Elanga Bruno Sancho
    --------------------------Rashford

They did beat Real Madrid away last year.

Lets not go into this like the clown show we did in Istanbul thinking this will be easy.

This competition is very winnable if we take it seriously. The strongest teams are Arsenal and Lazio. And whatever CL club falls down here... barca and frenkie hopefully :p

If we play to our level, we should be able to win it.

Need to get a win! Nothing less. We have to look at topping the group to avoid playing the CL 3rd place finishers in next round. Play strongest team and get the momentum back after the loss
