Said it ages ago and will say it again - should be sold to recoup what we can. What use will he be as a squad player.

Whatever injury happens, he is the 6th choice midfielder. The few times we do a completely 2nd 11, sure he'll play ... But we'd probably get a better impact from Zidane Iqbal out of those minutes anyway. Think he'll leave next summer if not January once it's clear he's not getting many minutes.

Slow down guys, I think he will work his way in and have a use, ETH saw him with confidence and he's probably a shell of himself but I have faith we can restore him somewhat - He will be useful in the low block games where we have a lot of the ball with players like Eriksen etc but he needs the right game to start or come on and play well and build from there, we started poorly and I think that's why we haven't been able to blood some of our squad players as much as we would have liked, even people like Garnacho I would have expected more "10 mins off the bench", looking forward to our Europa game against Sheriff on the 15th, the Sociedad one we will play strong and make sure we get 3 points.
Put it this way - Van de Beek won't get his confidence or show his use as an impact sub, and he has 0 chance to be a starter ahead of Eriksen or Bruno. So from his perspective... What's the point.

I don't think it's a confidence thing, he's just not very good. The fact that he's also not very confident is a byproduct.

He'll be gone in the winter window. Can't even make the bench now.

We need depth. He'll get games in certain stages of certain competitions.

If he's content with playing a bit-part role and ten Hag trusts him in certain moments (e.g. Europa League group stages) then we should keep him.

It's not like we'll get a remotely decent fee for him. You know what we're like.

Yep.

Oh didn't knew that, still he's played less than 20 minutes this season.

Casemiro will be a clear starter, which leaves Van de Beek as 5th option as best. Behind Eriksen, McTominay, Casemiro and Fred.

Where's Donny? Who would have thought the Donny Van de Beek saga would have gotten even weirder when the manager that made him took over.

He has to be suffering from mental health concerns or something similar, chronic illness of some sort... it's the only way I can make sense of this.

He is literally the most pointless player ever. Even in the last couple of seasons on the rare occasions he could have played he got/keeps getting injured.

Could be down to the gulf in quality between the Dutch league and the Prem. Plus he’s hardly played any football for a good couple of years so probably has gone backwards, psychologically at least.

Yeah Malacia and Martinez are miles off the pace.

Get thee to a nunnery Dutch league

Ha! Shame that not every player who looks good in Holland makes it in the Prem… I mean it sincerely, Donny looked great in Holland and I wish he could do it here but it is a harder league.

Maybe it’s not just the league and he actually isn’t that good?

He didnt look amazing here either. Just a useful pawn in that Ajax team, but not very important. Guus Til and Davy Klaassen couldve done that job just as well.

Still think he would have been a better option than McFred over the years but it looks like we've recruited above him now and the ship has sailed.

Hopefully he gets a chance elsewhere. Nice technical player there.

Even his old coach doesn't seem to rate him. And then he gets injured to top it off. Disappointing. I always thought he might make it, but I guess not. Strange he wasn't moved this summer or at least loaned as he seems to be so low down the pecking order he might as well not exist. But I think it's going to happen in January.

I’m sure that’s true but I have seen some footage of him playing in Holland and he looked a lot better than anything he’s done here.

Oh yeah, I can imagine. The bottom half of our league is hilariously bad.

Yeah, I mean I don’t rate him. But “good” becomes a relative term when you’re playing against players of differing quality. He’d look good in the Dad’s football team at our school, was decent in the Dutch league, struggles in the Prem.

Based on what? Like seriously, what makes you think he would have been a better option? At his best he’s 5.5/10 player in this league/ for United
Pretty sure he can do better than Fred against Real Sociedad.

What is happening with this guy. He should be the first name on the teamsheet, Dutch and with his former coach, and he is nowhere to be found.

I’m a way ten Hag is the worst thing that could have happened to him at United. It essentially stripped away all of his excuses and left him very exposed.

the thing is just because a manager used you at his last club, doesn't mean much as he now has more resources and is in a completely idfferent league

The way people might laugh at someone like Lingard’s performance but still has this hope for Van De Beek is shocking but not surprising.

Does he even get into the Dutch squad anymore? We’ll be lucky to just get him off the books, soon enough nobody will want him at these wages and we’ll have another Jones situation.
