He was very good in his last start against West Ham, and on current form he will walk straight into the team over Foden that has struggled so far this season. Then it is upto him if he keeps his spot

People here seemed to consider him as some mix between Keane and Ronaldhinio when he was at Villa. Apparently he had this elite leader mentality. At City I see the absolute opposite. A passive player who appears (mostly due to liking the ball just being at his feet) to be involved but doesn't actually do much and not enough fire to his game. Big season for him. Needs to step it up. Pep marginalising and letting go of Sterling is a show of faith in Grealish.

Just a classic case of a guy who looks amazing in a small team when they completely play through him and aim to give him the ball every time they get possession but disappears when he becomes a cog in the machine. Zaha another example

I've aways hated the fallacy of "well, he's been good for Midtable FC so imagine how good he'd look and how many goals/assists he'd get surrounded by better players!"

It's like people don't even consider the fact that when you're surrounded by better players not everything goes through you anymore, and those better players are going to get a larger share of the goals/assists than your old teammates did.
You're also going have to perform at your best at all times just to stay in the team which you might not be capable of. Even if you are, your best might very well not be good enough technically (Wan-Bissaka), physically (Maguire), mentally (Shaw/Zaha), or some combination thereof.
Finally, there's all the off pitch pressures of playing for a team that's always in the media spotlight. Some people take to the spotlight and pressure naturally, but many don't.

Is it though? We were bantered for Berbatov being "a 30 million flop" when we were winning leagues and Grealish isn't fit to bring him water let alone compare as a footballer.

Oh 100% he should be delivering more, just today I think its unfair to single him out when everyone was terrible. The problem for Jack is its common for him to underperform and not for the rest. I'd agree with that take, he's no world beater and probably not better than Foden when Phil is on form but he's a far better player than we're seeing at City. I think the price tag has messed with his head a bit, he's afraid to mess up and not taking chances or playing his natural game.

Nah he looked good yesterday it was the other 4 who were just like almost static and passive.

He must have been brilliant last season - according to Fotmob, he was the 12th best player in the league with an average rating of 7,56. Better than Rice, VVD, Mane, Jorginho etc. Weird how he said himself that he was disappointed with the season; Rio said he underachieved (mabe he expected a 9,99 rating), and the general consensus was that he flopped and needed to improve this season. We are all in the wrong - stats never lie!

His rating this season for his two matches is 7,50, so a little less, but still quite brilliant - zero goals and assists mind you.

Agree with this. All the feinting and shoulder movements and step overs mean nothing if you don’t try and take the defender on once in a while. They just stand there and watch you.
