feels like you’re giving him far too much credit because he’s your owner which I understand slightly but is a bit naive of you.
Actually no - he bought the club after these incidents - we had exactly the same questions and concerns about the allegations - who wants a drug smuggler / match fixer as an owner? A couple of Oly fans who frequent our board regularly went over the story from the Greek point of view. They both made the salient points that if they believed there was any truth what so ever in the allegations then neither would support their club (Oly) with Marikanis in charge. The forest board addressed the issues at the time giving the Marikanis takeover their blessing.

Everyone is free to have their opinions but to Forest fans, these issues have been addressed and put to bed. He’s been cleared of all charges and passed the fit and proper owners test. If people want to believe that Forests transfer splurge is financed by drug money - go ahead and by all means look forward to us getting our just desserts with dirty Forest losing every match and banished to the National Conference league.

All we’ve done is get to a position where we have two prem quality players for each position and yes it’s taken a lot of new players. As per the Garner thread, Jimmy wanted his shot at the United first team, we needed players in quickly to get a competitive team together for the start of the season. Zincs was never really good enough and Gerrard priced Davies out of a move.

The first 11 will be.
Henderson
Worrall - Niakhate - McKenna
Williams - Frueler - Yates - Richards
Gibbs-White
Johnson - Awoniyi
Poor Lingz. Eternal bench warmer these days.

I was impressed by what I saw of Mangala for Stuttgart so think he could be a starter in that team posted above. If you actually sign Regullion from Spurs on loan he'll be in there aswell.

Was always surprised you never went to get Jamal Lascelles back given he was captain of Newcastle for a few seasons before Howe came in so would fit what you're looking for currently.
[/QUOTE]
Ha - Jesse needs to pull his finger out - tidy but a bit underwhelming so far. Mangala is really good and who ever plays number 8 has to deliver but When Yates came on against Everton it lifted the whole team + scored a bullet on Tuesday. He’s more direct and will score more then Mangala. There will be selection dilemmas in most areas which is what you want. Awoniyi is most in danger - Dennis looks good and Surridge makes scoring look easy - 10 from 26 so far.
Our back 3 aren’t the quickest, especially with Niakhate our for a month or two and Cook in. Lascelles wouldn’t exactly improve that issue.

Don't know about you lot, but I feels like they just haven't signed enough players yet...

I think people just think there is far too much noise surrounding him for him to be as straight cut as you are making out. We all know the fit and proper test is complete bollocks too as multiple clubs have been taken over by dodgy owners in the past 5-10 years.

Is this some kind of Watford/Udinese money laundering scheme? There's something a bit off about an owner of two clubs moving assets between the two clubs.

There are so many implications with same onwership: from creative accounting to FFP issues evasion. I always wondered what happens when two clubs with the same owners meet in Europe, especially if they are in the same group. Is there any rule that forbids two clubs from different countries to play in the same group due to ownership?

They wouldn't be allowed into the same competition I don't think.

They haven't done too much of it in recent times, Wolves have probably signed more players from Olympiakos in last two years, although obvious case of parking some players if they're not deemed ready for prem yet.

Well then. If Olympiakos fans and Forest fans think he’s a stand up guy, who are we to argue?

It’s all good - it’s very easy to be cynical about another club. But, what would your reaction be if United’s prospective new owner was under investigation or had been accused of something unacceptable? You would want chapter and verse on the new owners credentials and would let it be known to those running the club to make sure due diligence was rigorously undertaken? i’ve been a Forest fan for 45 years and I’d rather we played 4th tier football then be owned by a drug dealer. The Oly fans I quoted are similar to myself, long standing fans (one of them runs an Oly fans forum) who would walk away from the club if there was any truth in the allegation.
To put the CL two clubs ownership thing to bed - iir, Forest are registered as owned by I think, a guy called Ventros who was Marinakis’s deputy at Oly, but resigned so has no connection to the club (Another clubs blatant underhand flouting of the rules is your own clubs clever interpretation) So when we finish top four this season after buying another 10 players in Jan, we’ll be good to go next season ;)

I do too... I think he's good enough that he will force his way into a starting XI, even if he drops out initially.

Smells like Fulham a couple of years ago.

They is probably going to go down if they get dragged into a relegation battle.

The line up is an educated guess of what I think our strongest starting 11 is but the point of our shopping spree is that there are options and the options are based on playing style rather then quantity. Cooper likes to build partnerships within the team - last season we had Djed and Brennan or Yates and Garner together, this season, O’Brien and Mangala seems to work as both carry the ball well and interchange 6 and 8. Frueler and Yates is similar to Garner and Yates in that Frueler is more a quarterback 6 with Yates a box to box 8. With the 5 subs available, teams have more options to change tactics more radically During a match - last season Cooper‘s subs and tactical changes were usually very astute. It might look like “doing a Fulham” but as fans we knew there would be an extensive rebuild based on the structure and style of last season.

How the feck did they land Renan Lodi? Insane. A starting fullback from Atletico for 30m.

These cnuts were quoting us obscene amounts for Cunha.

Signing Wily Boly for a million or so, pretty good pick up to get experienced CB in although he's not been quite the same at Wolves since broken leg two years ago.

He’s been fecked since he had covid, he had long covid for over a year and now he’s very injury prone., it seems he’s trying to force a move to Forest which would be a sad end to his 6 years at wolves.
Good experienced player for Forest though especially for 1-2m

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

There you go. If not illegal, certainly dodgy to say the least, as Marinakis obviously owns both Olympiacos and Forest.

Coach is out of his depth, done a great job getting them back in the Prem but he’s not gonna make it at this level.

They've actually spent a lot of money on absolute shite. It's like what Spurs spent the Bale money on x3.

Cooper going to be a victim of his own success here in a way.

Forest however are not staying up if they can't even get draws at home to promoted teams in games they actually take the lead in.

Was there a pattern in terms of players they bought. For a certain way the manager plays that would fit the style? Or was is scattergun approach?

Seems latter right? Fulham did something similar a few seasons ago and it was a mess too

Stupid signing that amount of players anyway. You need a team balance and chemistry to stay up in this league, keep some of the players around that got you up in the first place and work from there not tear up the whole squad and throw money about on a mish-mash group of players. Fulham did it few years ago and it failed went straight back down.

I believe manager gets final say, but there are club signings from people with a "clue". I would have to ask Forest fans at work ( I am in Nottingham).
If there's no overarching plan, then it could spiral a bit!

It does seem crazy how they handled promotion. Ownership has been around 10 years in Greece, so should know a few things... good and bad?

They need 11 new players in January.
Its been proven that every time you bring in too many players the team sucks. Too much integration to be done. Really don't know why the owners or managers do this. Its basically managing a whole new team that the manager is unfamiliar with. So dumb.

Forrest lost the fighting spirit they had when they go the promotion, never mind the philosophy of playing.
