Closer to his style of play than say an Antony. One-two passing, but I think he has a better eye for a final pass than Sancho.
Agree with your first sentence, the second..what?!

Sancho is a proven entity when it comes to end product. He's not shown it as much at Utd compared to Dortmund but you must either have a really good eye or can predict the future because that comment about Amad is more of a hunch/hope than anything.

For the record, I like him as a player and can see he has obvious qualities (and deficiencies, just like Sancho) but his development is still very raw atm.

Considering that's from 20 odd minutes or less, that looks a pretty decent performance. His use of the ball in just about every situation was impressive
From that video I was most impressed by the pace he showed in a long sprint at the beginning of the clip. He looked second best the whole way, and he did in fact not get there, but he made it a lot closer than I thought!

Just need to be patient with him. He has a season long loan - will come good.

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
Good counter argument
Do you have anything to back up your definitive statement other than it being your opinion?

I bet there’s been loads of players you’ve been wrong about before and will be again, just like there’s loads I’ve been wrong about and will be loads more in future.

So yeah, you don’t know anything. Just as nobody does when it comes to young footballers.

Amad isn't as slow as people on here would have you believe.

Aimed too high for him again. Should be in league 1 playing regular games or a weaker league abroad.
If Sunderland is too high for someone as highly rated as Amad when we signed him then something is seriously wrong.

He was signed to develop into a starting player for us - he should be in and around a premier league squad not benching for a pretty dismal Sunderland squad. May as well keep him in the reserves with us than send him to league 1.

Jesus wept - state on these comments.

In my far from expert opinion, he needs regular games more than anything, he's barely played any senior football whatsoever and it shows. If he's good enough then he'd stand out. He's miles away from being a first teamer for us, highly rated at youth level or not.

League 1 is a far better standard than the reserves.

I mean, just to point out how you’re wrong about literally everything here, the foundation of your entire point (Sunderland are a mediocre League One side) is kinda destroyed by simply pointing out that Sunderland currently sit in a playoff spot. In the Championship.

So not only we’re you wrong about their level in the league, you were also wrong about what league they’re in.

He joined late to a strong squad and is still getting minutes and plenty of praise from the manager. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

I hope he gets 30 minutes or so, apparently he's been good and it can't be that long before he gets a start

Didn't even last an hour.

Lots of work for Amad to do to break into a Championship side.

His brother is actually having a better career than him so far.

How was his performance?
Non descript as was the game.

Sunderland's fans are bemoaning their lack of fit strikers, Amad played centrally, he isn't a striker for sure so that doesn't help matters.

I struggle to understand why Ten Hag or Mowbray would field Diallo as a striker.
If I'm not mistaken Ole brought him on as a striker once as well. There must be a belief that he can play the false striker role playing others in or something.

Probably his best game for us against Wolves came as a false 9.

We’ve spent 25m + 15m adds on for him. I assume there is no need for us to pay up that 15m adds on?

In fairness to big Tony, Sunderland don't have a fit striker right now, so he is pretty much the only option to play that role.

Well - he will get more game time in that case (saying that, the almost guaranteed 30 or so minutes every game he's been having is more than he's ever had I feel).

Unfortunately there's a chance his growing reputation there might take a beating with the relatively unfamiliar position. I hope the Sunderland fans do offer him the patience of someone being played out of position

It’s true that we had a dearth of strikers ready when Ten Hag played him there as well, but yeah, I also remember Solskjær playing him there. He scored a peach of a header at AC Milan as well, was that the game?

It’s just that for me, he looks the least candidate for a striker in the whole of the United squad as per now. He’s tachnical with great passing ability, weak shots, lightweight and little end product. Surely that is not a false nine, that ’s a parody of a false nine.
