His attitude is spot on and defensively he’s sound, but he lacks vision and passing ability. Unlike some others he seems aware of his lack of passing so doesn’t try too much, but it’s an issue. He’s rarely in the right position when we’re looking to attack and when he is, he ends up taking it backwards instead.
Completely agree. Surprised people are throwing around Lahm and Evra comparisons after a few games.

He's a promising and tenacious young player but he's got a long way to go. He looks very coachable and adaptable though and his work ethic is fantastic. Maybe a better comparison might be Gary Neville?

He’s proved a lot of us wrong who thought he was coming here as a backup. He’s deserving of his place in the team and left Shaw twiddling his thumbs on the bench.

It’s so strange to me see a left back playing as narrow as he does. I know inverted fullbacks are all the rage these days but I still find it hard to get used to in a United team. He’s a tenacious, neat, tidy player. Just needs to start to bring a bit more of an attacking edge. Hopefully we’ll see it soon.

I think he’s instructed not too. He is normally superagressive on the attacking side and good at it.

Bargain signing of the summer? If we had paid £40m/£50m for a LB and he had the start Malacia had we’d be saying money well spent.

He’s a very good option and a great buy at what we paid for him, but I’d like to think we can do better. Reminds me of a Gabriel Heinze kind of player, almost got it and very likeable but not quite there.
I disagree that he can't pass. I think he's actually a very good passer, much better than Shaw. He's just playing a bit safe at the moment. Once he's properly settled, you'll be surprised by the kind of passes he's capable of. Go watch his game vs Roma last season, he has a lot more to offer in possession.

At some point there will be calls for this lad to play DM. Doesn't matter that we have Casemiro, McTominay etc, it's going to happen. He'd be better than Lindelof there, I'll say that.

Agree, this could be added to a few of the new signings in terms fo people getting carried away. The fact he has settled in so quickly is great and his debut was superb. But takign away that game, so far he has been part of a really good defensive unit and his performances have been tenacious and hard working, he hasnt stoodf out on the ball or defensively and has made a few msitakes in the lsat couple fo games which can only be expected.

Far too early to be lauding him or even saying he is the new nmber one left back here, but he has done well and be commended so far rather than lauded, but he has a long long wway to go to be gettign those kind of comparisons

Hmm.. people are commenting of his style of play, not comparing their quality.

Picked for the national squad

Not the thread for it, but I was impressed by Teze against Rangers in that CL tie. Could see us buying him next summer with 2 years left on his deal as a backup for Dalot. Vanderson looks a better player, but probably would cost a ton more and also he seems like the sort of player (Brazilian, great) that will end up at Madrid (they need a RB) or City who could do with a RB as they annoyingly sell Kyle Walker for 15M to pay for half of it to like West Ham.

Malacia is a prime example of the type of player we haven't been signing over the last ten years. Young, hungry and ambitious.

Maybe working for Ten Hag is helping the hunger. That seems to be the case with Dalot but I still believe this kid has a big future in the game anyway.

We should be targeting this type of players more often.

That is the way forward imo. We cant really compete against City or Real, and we used to buy young talents and developed them successfully under Fergie too

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Yep, he was the exact type of player that I wanted to sign a whole bunch of over the last window.

Fairly cheap, fairly young, a lot of intensity and drive to his game, skilful enough, and seemingly good mentality. Refresh the squad with quite a few similar players and trust the manager to develop them properly and build the foundation, then slowly top that up with a couple of big money signings in the following windows.

Most of our signings were young, hungry and ambitious at the time. After a few years they tend to get stale and just show up for the paycheck.

I still don't put Van Gaal above not starting Malacia, because he plays for United.

 No matter what anyone says I still like Van Gaal.
Fans should love him - he was a proper football man and also very down to earth when you hear players talk about him. He just hates Woodward and how he was sacked which was so scummy.
