I honestly think West Ham would push for a 100m type fee for him/a very very silly fee for him this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a gentlemens agreement with him that he gives them this year and next year he's allowed to go, especially if they go backwards.
I'm pretty sure of that too - like Ronaldo the season before he went to Real

When is the Europa qualification play off?

Might be worth a bid if they fail to qualify... offer the 85m we are apparently prepared to pay for dejong

Stick some addons on there if needed to get the deal over the line

We were crying out for a player like him at the weekend
no one Moyes will let him go now the season's started

This lad has such a slappable face.

We will undoubtedly sign him because he is so unlikeable.

Signing De Jong and Rice to replace Jorginho and Kante would be precisely what an ambitious and serious club would do.

Must be nice
Exactly.

Sounds very sensible and rational when we talk about another club doing it. If we want to do it, it’s a waste of money and “we should be scouting guys for a fraction of that”. I don’t know how we ended up here.

Some of our own fans say we are a joke. I don’t want to accept it but it seems to ring a little truer ever year.

I wonder if the people saying Rice isn't good enough are the same who were saying it will all be fine...
Quite possibly

Not me though. One of the reasons things are very much not “fine” is because we’ve spunked huge fees on decent-ish mid-table players who struggle to perform at a (theoretically) higher level.

to be fair, Rice has looked pretty good for England - who are not, whatever the media would have us believe, that great

Don’t worry, we can all enjoy a transfer thread for him next summer until he ends up at Chelsea.

He's just as crap anyway. Look at the way he lost De Bruyne and was jogging along as they scored the 2nd goal.

He'd be another 80m mistake.
Yeah. I just don't see it in him as more than 60m player (that include his nationality tax). He will improve our midfield, but that doesn't mean much.

I've said that's the day I might have to sign the divorce papers with the club... might as well have mark hughes
Yeah. I’d rather get rid of this bunch of players than bring in the sort of manager that apparently can “get the best” out of them, which would only be a maximum of top four anyway.

Yes, the FDJ deal can still happen but in my opinion the Declan Rice option is a very valid one.

Declan could learn from Casemiro for a couple of years, he is so young and he understands what United are all about.

A Casemiro-Rice combo sounds amazing in january, a very solid HM combo after all the misery we had to endure with Mctominay and Fred.

You’re welcome to him

See I don't think you get the joke. He is rapping "Rice, Rice baby" when in fact the actual lyrics are "Ice, Ice baby"

It is funny because the word Rice rhymes with Ice.

Truly brilliant stuff. He is even wearing oversized funny sunglasses. I didn't want him before but just thinking of the banter hole we need to fill without Lingard I am officially sold.

He’s been in a weird run of form for a while now. He just can’t assert himself in games unless he’s playing in a game where they’re pegged back v a big side.
He might actually be better off as a CB in the long run

said this all along.

he excels in tight spaces with little room around him. a 352 with 3 centre backs behind him and he looks the man because he does read the game well.

now west ham are trying to be more expansive and leaving room behind him, he looks average, just like he does for england.

He won’t get away with 90% 5 yard sideways passes when you’re not a counter attacking side anymore.

West Ham fecked up by asking for 100m. If they said 80 we or chelsea would have probably bitten and it would be daylight robbery.

Not that keen on him really after that Europa final outburst. Not sure if big time charlie is a bit too strong but it's like he's believed the hype and he's arrived on the big stage but in reality he hasn't

Glad we have Casemiro. Meaning we won't be overpaying for this overrated midfielder.

Having said that, let him run his contract down and if he goes for a reasonable price im sure we will have a look.

If you gave me rice for 80 million or casimero for 70, I would choose rice but aren't west ham wanting like 130 million for him which is beyond crazy much like how spurs wanted 120-150 for kane

So are we really going to go after him next summer ? because I don't think so....

Especially when 10Hag is here and he wants a different style of midfielder.

Every time someone bumps this thread i get chills, and increased heart rate. Ffs. Let chelsea pay £80m for this lad. Lets get Caicedo or something of the sorts. This one should be a no-no.

He just doesn't do enough.

I think people like the idea of him more (young English midfielder) more than the qualities he actually brings to a football pitch.

Bit odd focusing on Rice when the entire team is out of sorts. Not a single even remotely decent performance out there.

I would still take Rice as a sitting DM. Just not at anywhere near what is being quoted. Max i'd pay is £40-50m because of his age and the high end experience he already has at his age.

We don't need a sitting DM though.

Never seen a man cede so much by slinking between the CBs when the going gets tough.

It's so weird how people are so willing to accept a limited midfielder, yet at the same time seem to value a ball playing GK. Makes no sense.

None of the top teams can accommodate a sitting DM. It's too detrimental to your attacking game if even one of your midfielder can't progress the ball comfortably
