United is not "too high" a bar at all. Certainly not in the last 10 years. There are several youngsters all over Europe that given enough game time could have easily made it at this club over the dross that has occupied our dressing room in the last 10 years. Its all about having the right people in place to identify the great talents and building a merit-based system that allows youngsters opportunities when the senior players are not good enough (which in our case has been regularly over the last 10 years). Comparing us and City is not a fair comparison at all. The senior players who have played for City in the last 10 years are actually players who are worthy of keeping youngsters out of the team. The evidence is in the 4 premier league titles they have won in the last 5 years. That is not the case for Manchester United.
Take Amad for example, under another manager, Amad could have already made that right wing spot his own, eliminating the need to spend 80 million Pounds on a guy that is only 2/3 years older. Instead our mangers were Ole, past-it Mourinho and past-it Van Gaal.
I believe you are really u estimating the ability a player needs to have to play for us…
Yes we’ve made mistakes but the facts are there are only a select section of players right at the very top capable of playing for the best clubs on the planet.
United are 100% in that conversation even if a lot of our signings have not worked. The players we brought in this summer for example all have exceptional abilities most young players just will never have.
It’s the cream of the crop talent wise it’s just you need to make a cohesive team.

I’ve never seen Amad put in the performances of Anthony at Ajax. Not even close. If you think we can win anything of note throwing teenagers into the starting line up against City and Liverpool you are living in the 90’s.
Football now has gone well beyond that. While some young players might come good. Rashford, Greenwood and McTomminay did. 99.5% of them the bar is just too much at United.
You need to be both technical and bullet proof almost with fitness to succeed in the Premier League. Amad has technical ability for sure but physicality wise he is nowhere near we need him to be.
Anthony looks like a bull physically and has just as much talent so yes we need a more developed footballer to compete for trophies.
Amad still has to work on a lot of things hence why he’s not in the side. Anthony made more impact in 45 mins in a United shirt than Amad has in all his starts.
