The real target is Svatove though with forces coming from north (Kupyansk) direction to close the gap, they’ll just bypass Lyman by completely encircling it as they did to many towns during Izium counteroffensive. The whole flank then may fold there really quickly from Luhansk side as there no real fortifications all the way to pre-2022 invasion line.

Surely that would leave them open to being flanked by however many Russians are still in Lyman?

I wouldn't think so, Ukraine is aware of the Russian troops there and actively works on encircling them. You can’t flank troops creating a cauldron around you, you can just try to break out of it.

About closing the sky:
This delivery (the first IRIS-T SLM ever, this isn't existing stock) was earlier expected for December, so there was a nice speed up in production. Ukrainian MoD also reported that their troops finished training on it, so it can be expected that this can be immediately put into action.

This is good stuff hopefully they can get an adequate number of these.

So far seven systems have been ordered, but it looks like only about pne per month can be delivered. That's not the biggest numbers, but as each system can cover an area about 40km across each can protect one big city or something like that.

More powerful air defense assets are needed, that’s an area where other states should step up as well.

Former US General Petraeus discusses logistics of maintaining an M-1 tank, and thus the hesitancy to give them to Ukraine, among other things.

18 HIMARS, I think Ukraine got like 16 right now so it would more than double it.

This is why the Ukrainians and Americans were hoping that the Germans would transfer their surplus tanks. M1s use a turbine engine rather than a normal engine. The Leopard uses a normal diesel engine.

Yes and no - Ukraine not only got HIMARS but also already several M270, which is it's big brother (same missiles, but 12 instead of 6 per salvo, and a tracked instead of a wheeled vehicle). So it doesn't double the capacity to fire GLMRS missiles

NSFL Early war Hostomel, war crimes. I wonder what paxi thinks.
Scary to think this is before things turned south for the Russians. Their attrocities would have only got worse as the war went further against them.

Nord Stream gas leaks may be biggest ever, with warning of ‘large climate risk’
‘Colossal amount’ of leaked methane, twice initial estimates, is equivalent to third of Denmark’s annual CO2 emissions or 1.3m cars

I think there was just a load of gas in the pipes:

Nord Stream 2, which was intended to increase the flow of gas from Russia to Germany, reportedly contained 300m cubic metres of gas when Berlin halted the certification process shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine.

That volume alone would translate to 200,000 tonnes of methane, Cooper said. If it all escaped, it would exceed the 100,000 tonnes of methane vented by the Aliso Canyon blowout, the biggest gas leak in US history, which happened in California in 2015. Aliso had the warming equivalent of half a million cars.

Lukashenko enjoying his most beloved hobby: Trolling Putin

If you read between the lines he is essentially saying: "Look Wladimir, I had some trouble, a few thousand people left, but they all realized they were wrong and came back. And now up to 50,000 of your people came into my country and I have to decide what to do with them, because everyone likes me and everyone hates you"
