Guillermo Varela
Reading the Argentinian WC squad announcement the other day and thought his name sounded familiar. Didn’t we loan him to Real Madrid even though he was a complete non entity for us?

Roy Carroll and Tim Howard come to mind. Genuinely thought Tim Howard played for Everton his whole career and had to find a picture of him in our kit to be sure.

Gerard Pique. It's impossible to imagine him in anything but a Barcelona shirt nowadays but he started his career here.

Jordi Cruyff. Johan's son. Signed after Euro '96, he was a regular during the first half of the title winning '96-'97 season, although injuries led to his Utd career fizzling out long before he left in 2000.

Unlikely that any of those things ever happened considering he is from Uruguay. We did loan him to Real Madrid Castilla. I think he is currently playing in Brazil with Flamengo.

He was such a waste of a signing, but I think he scored a cracking goal for us in the youth level once.

Andy Goram - did nothing apart from picking the ball out the net from a header from big bad John ( probably would’ve save if big John was wearing a Celtic top Mind you).

Yes! I couldn't even remember his name. "That ugly fecker" - that was all. So I went through the pages, sure at least one one of you would mention him. And there he is. Number one on your list. Now I know his name - Ugly fecker.

Is this a different thread to the one where people just listed names whether they were really pertinent to the thread title?

I think it can be age related too. I will never forget Lee Martin for that cup final goal.

Poor guy, listened to him on a podcast about the horrific abuse he got. Was actually disgraceful.
