Good for our build up play, good for squad morale. Excellent news.

Now let's get a real striker and kick on.

He's not a legend in my eyes, i think a lot of people associate his career at Madrid and Juve with us. How ever had had 3 inconsitent seasons for us, then he had one good season, followed by an amazing season, but then he wanted to jump ship straight away and you could tell that in his last season. His slavery comments destored sense of him being a legend.

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
Think timelines are more important here for both parties. Ronaldo wants a new club and we want rid of the drama. Neither wanted it to drag on which a negotiated fee would have done.

It was obvious this would be the outcome as soon as the interview went out.
Not really. It doesn’t bother United if it drags on as long as he’s not turning up to training, simply refuse to answer questions and treat him as persona non grata like our other dodgy attacker

I know what happened last week was wrong, but reading this this thread is shocking, is this a Man Utd fan board? I wouldn't be able to tell.

Sad part of it is...we resigned a geriatric Ronaldo and a talented rough diamond first time around. Real fans got to see the great player that emerged play for their club. And yes I'm still fecking bitter.

Anyone see he apparently posted that header he scored against us for Madrid on his Instagram. Absolute cretin he'll never be considered a legend here. Please don't sing his name again either.
He did one better in getting an exortidantly expensive watch made of it to show off today with Portugal the day we part ways

For all his failings, I very much doubt Ronaldo was one of Ole's transfer targets. The club wanted him for obvious financially-motivated reasons and Ole was either too spineless or simply not in a position perhaps to push back. The fact that it was Sir Alex that called Ronaldo and begged him to come is telling enough in itself.
This does feel like SAF made it happen. He seems very emotional when talking about Ronaldo. His boy.
Owners probably saw the commercial gains from it as well.

Honestly doubt Ole and the other football people closer to the team had much to say. Got the feeling they pushed hard during the spring for Cavani to extend for another season. Makes no sense to push for Ronaldo after Cavani agreed to stay.

Ruined his legacy. I saw him score some wonder goals in his first spell and adored him, but throwing his teammates under the bus along with our first decent manager since SAF was just pure narcissism of a fading player. Good riddance.

No footballer is bigger than the club . Ronaldo thinks he is bigger than the game. Thank you for wonderful memories over the years ,tbf your best football was after you left us and before you joined us again .

ADL and Napoli are never in a million years going to threaten to blow up the good thing they have going on there for a passed it 37 year old...

They already passed on the chance even before the start to the season they've had, no chance now.
glad to hear it

He absolutely is not a true legend of Manchester United. No true legend gives that sort of interview.
Is Keane a club legend? Is Beckham a United legend? Both did not leave nicely. SAF threw a shoe on Beckham before his departure.

You may argue that CR7 is not a United legend, but the explanation you gave is not convincing.

Once that's over though, I think I'll remember him well once the dust settles.

The wage bill
So we save 25m per year. I dont think so.

A new striker will cost 80m or 20m pa amortised plus wages of 12m pa so no saving.

It will cost us 7m+ pa bottom line to replace Ronaldo.

What's wrong? I can see most posts supporting the club cause we are 'manutd' fans, and not in support for a player who isn't a manutd player.

I'm glad he's left after the turbulence he's caused. However I don't understand, given that the contract has been cancelled by mutual agreement, why he didn't opt for that route privately. Personally I don't think he's done himself any favours and believe he's harmed his reputation. I am sad that for such an icon of the game it's turned out like this.
Piers Morgan set him up good and proper and Ronaldo's ego did the rest.

both Keane and Beckham clashed with Ferguson, as have others. Ronaldo went out of his way to shit on the whole club.

So a side like....us.

Oh yeah because we calve out chance after chance for our strikers…get real.

Brentford creating more than the likes of Arsenal who are by far the best team in the league at present? seems legit.

Keane's interview was with MUTV and never saw the light of day. What did Beckham do that was comparable to Ronaldo's interview with pond scum Piers Morgan? Neither Keane nor Beckham did anything remotely as bad.

Dont write him off so easily

Was good last season, out scoring a host of quality strikers in the PL. He’s been unsettled and wanted to leave in the summer, it’s no real surprise that he’s not been at it for us this year.

Im putting money on Ronaldo doing well in a side that creates chances
If you also add on his teammates suddenly performing poorly and his new team dropping down that table, you'll be on to a winner

You nailed it on the head. It's a Manchester United fan forum, not a CR7 fan site.

You can find plenty of those on the web...

Why? We just got rid of a massively overpaid toxic element. Look at Liverpool and Man City forums, they will be gutted about this.

You don't get it because you're not an egocentric past-it sporting icon struggling to come to terms with your declining performances, surrounded by yes-men.
