He is a manchild...

Don't get baited by some petty twitter idiot. This is Ronaldo narcissism but not in the way they suggest.
Cristiano Ronaldo's highest jump measures 2.93 metres, recorded against Manchester United while playing for Real Madrid in the first leg of the Round of 16 tie in the UEFA Champions League 2012-13.
It's literally just his highest feat. It just happened to be against us.

Am glad he has left the club but what sort of precedence does this set? Can any player that wants to leave now sh*t on the club, get his contract cancelled and sign for someone else on a free?
Unique case as he was insane wages for a backup player, and nobody was willing to pay for him. If that's case it would be great if we could terminate such contracts without paying anything. But we wouldn't be so lucky in other cases.

Wow highest header. Didn't even know that was a thing that mattered. He approved it didn't he ? It's an official watch? Of course it doesn't surprise me but this notion that he adores the club (that some people still believe) is just crap.

F**k me, so many haters on a club Legend and the G.O.A.T
Some of you need to grow up, yes he shouldn’t have done the interview but vast majority of what he said was true and we all know that.

Anyway best wishes to him on his next venture and let’s see ETH does for rest of the season, can’t play the Ronaldo card no more!

Not really, because it could be a breach of contract and he would have to pay damages. The exact precedent is possible if the club also didn't want him anymore; he has no resale value because of length of contract; and is on high wages. I hope we didn't have to pay him too much to leave. That is the next secret news to get leaked I suppose.

No the vast majority of the interview wasn't true, especially the 2nd part which was him going after the manager and former teammates who criticized him for leaving the stadium. The valid parts about the glazers and making Rangnick manager didn't last a minute or two. The rest was speculative, borderline defamatory crap even he wasn't sure of, like the bit about no one believing his daughter was sick or being forced out since last season. Ronaldo fc especially need to grow out of idolising famous people.

I couldn’t be bothered to watch both installments of the softball telenovela, but I’m sure his comments about the jacuzzi and other critical deficiencies of United were spot on. But when a player publicly states that he has “no respect” for the manager, when in fact the manager tried to accommodate that player and yet the player wasn’t up to the task at hand, it’s pretty clear who was out of order.

Being a United legend or GOAT doesn't give him carte blanche to act like a cnut.

Ronaldo was in a position whereby we weren't going to get a transfer fee for him and whose deal is up at the end of the year. We were going to lose him for nothing either way.

If another player who had tenure tried this, we would rightfully demand a transfer fee.

This can't be hard to comprehend, it is so bad that your basic understanding of the situation is that lacking that you have to ask a question like this.

It's not comparable really.
I agree - it’s not comparable in a way that Keane always loved United and didn’t give a public interview. He still associates himself first and foremost as a United player

Ronaldo on the other hand is all about Ronaldo.

But the two situations are very similar as well. Keane had bashed the squad, the young players and questioned the manager’s assistant.

Ronaldo has done the same (albeit to get his contract terminated and get a move elsewhere).

Both did it in an interview when they were on their decline physically and were not being able to deal with not being the key man/ automatic starter, and losing their place to inferior footballers.

if another player tried this, then we would be in a position of power to deal with it. No one is as big as Ronaldo and Messi in football.

dealing with this any other way would completely derail United’s remaining season.

The Ronaldophants are rife on twitter with victory celebrations on how their Lord and Savior single handedly ran the Glaziers out of town. Led by the newest and biggest Ronaldophant himself. Can't make this shite up.

Why are you such a one-eyed doom and gloom merchant? You set up a false premise (as we didn't pay him off) and then complain about it as if it were true.
Yes, that’s it; letting you know how I feel about us paying him off and definitely fearing that we did just that. How many eyes do you have if you think the amicable ‘mutual agreement’ didn’t involve him walking away with some wages? If he wanted to walk away without wages, don’t you think that could have been achieved without the interview? One eye is better than none.

It’s not haters. You’re the one who is being unreasonable. He is on the payroll of United. An employee. You can slag off your boss, co-workers, owners, workplace like he did and expect any sympathy? He disrespected the club he plays for and professes to love. It’s utterly unbelievable that any objective observer let alone United supporter, would share your view.

It’s fine, you are a Ronaldo fan first and foremost and you are entitled to your opinion.

He's cashing in now because he knows he is going to be exposed at the WC.

Get in all the endorsements while he can before he becomes a global joke.

Still won't change the mind of the ones who regard him a legend. Nothing would it seems.
Ronaldo could bulldoze OT and still be called a legend.

We're dealing with people who are like qanon.

That is the key part. Are we sure we did not want him anymore. And if we did not, we could have done this cancelling of contract earlier as it is obvious from the Ronaldo interview that he wants to leave the club. He could have just asked the club to do it.

I agree that it is good we got out of this and I totally understand why the club did it as it makes financial sense. I was mainly looking at it from a disciplinary point of view. Players under contract should not get away with this kind of behaviour but I guess considering the PR nightmare it would be to deal with this in any other way, this was the only way out.
Lets just hope some other players are not stupid enough to think they can also try and pull off something like this.

Can't cancel the contract earlier. Man utd will have to pay extra millions in compensation to Ronaldo and also the club will suffer bad reputation.

Now, the bad reputation is on Ronaldo and the compensation (if any) is much less. And united may even sue Ronaldo later on for more cash.

I can't even be bothered with CR leaving which rather sad considering how excited i was when he joined last season. Professionalism my arse.. the guy just doesn't know any of it based on his interview with Piers. He is all about being egoistical and selfish. Good riddance.

I don't think it will be possible for it to work out this way for a player we really want to keep. The fact is that Ronaldo was a financial and footballing burden to us and not a part of our future. He's tried to make this all about him being unhappy with a falling club however the truth is that he want really good enough to start and was being paid a fortune. It's a unique combination.

Finally, Ronaldo is gone.

Now is the time for the next club to play him in his favourite position which is a wandering forward (left) position where he can be more aggressive and put his dribbling and passing skills to good use again.

£1.2m per goal!
The reality is that Ronaldo would have brought in an enormous amount of money in other areas through advertising, shirt sales etc. That was the real reason he was brought in by the Glazers- his worth on the pitch is very minimal nowadays

At the end of the day both parties are winners, Ronaldo gets to leave so he can do whatever he has lined up without there be any time pressures and Utd have offloaded a finanacial burden and a constant strain on the new management in terms of having the pressure to play/include/discuss a player that clearly doesn’t fit into the system that is starting to be implemented.

The fact that there is a big time lag until the PL focus resumes makes it all the easier.

And just to trump all this Ronaldo news the beacon of light of a possible sale of the club is now the big headline.

The fact that it is now in the public domain means that the rumours of recent weeks are true and financial institutions/investors have been sounded out.

All in all a good day days work!

And his fans. They are his fans firstly and not fans of Manchester United. God help the CF we get to replace him and unless he scores a double hattrick on his debut they will be after him like an astral goat.

If they’re a bench player with a rotten attitude on 500k a week with 6 months left, hopefully.

We didn't pay him off. It has been confirmed.

Do you ever wonder why you aren't getting any likes and are making no progress towards promotion?
