So what striker are we buying in January?

I’d guess either Gakpo (though Dutch football fans by and large maintain that he won’t ultimately convert to a striker and isn’t quite good enough) or a striker whose contract is expiring in the Summer and thus can be picked up cheaply in January. These options would be, I guess, Dembele, Thuram, Brereton Diaz or Depay. Madrid would be all about keeping Benzema, one would guess.

An outside chance would be a loan such as Joao Felix, Cunha or Zapata.

That Saudi Arabia dude who just scored a blinder vs Argentina.
Armchair scouts will be all over him.

Reports in Spain say Atletico are happy to loan Felix out as no one has come in to buy so Felix coming in on loan for 6 months now Ronaldo is gone just makes perfect sense tactically and financially, go big in the summer for someone else if the Felix loan doesn’t work as well as hoped.

Spanish press and Atletico, have been constantly promoting Felix for the past few months. But who is interested in a striker who is not a #9? A #10 who can't do a #8.

A loan would be interesting. But I would hope it would have an option to buy if it's for Felix.

I think on this one I'm going with "whoever EtH wants". He's just been so utterly right so far.

I just hope it’s not a veteran on loan who has a great spell, becomes a cult hero and ends up with a three year contract and suddenly turns to shit. We’ve seen that movie so many times now.

Maybe I'm a bit naive, but actually I'm quit relaxed about it. I trust the board backing eth to find a good solution.

That's a strange feeling, it's been a while...

Yeah I’d back that fully.

I know Gakpo isn’t a conventional striker but if ETH thinks he’s what we need then fine by me.

Ivan Toney would have been perfect before this betting shit happened.

I still bang on about Gouri every time I can but I’ve never actually seen us linked to him.

I doubt a huge name like Kane or Mbappe will happen.

It's exciting that we're going to get a striker added soon. This team should be a lot better simply by replacing Ronaldo with someone who runs and plays defense, and has actual reflexes that fire on time. Also I can't help but think we will see more than that too. Finishing top four is so crucial to the plan that even if they have to borrow to pay it they should be addressing depth on the back end too.

Feels really good to be here with a team sitting just outside the top four and poised to hopefully make a strong run. I think with an added striker and some better depth, plus some favorable luck with injury status on players like Martial, we're a threat to finish third.

Yeah option to buy because if he doesn't fit the system then all in for number 9 next summer

Should go for Jonathan David. Would fit in nicely in our interchanging front 3.

Spain playing without a striker or a fluid front thrrr could definitely be an option for Ten Hag. The main thing for him is energy, press, fluidity. with rashford and Antony drifting central it could work with another menace like them. Also Fernandes or Eriksen also can get in that position centrally for the cut back when our wingers push forward.

Agreed. Stop gap doesn’t seem to be his style although he would if he could. Seems like he values more the value of a determined, hungry energetic player more than anything m.

Good way to put it and couldn’t agree more. Could the club being up for sale prolong these things?

Think Ten Hag has a different style and Mbappe would be the most anti signing of what he’s trying to build culture wise. Kane I could see him liking a lot but a pacey dangerous fluid front three works fine by me.

with maguire on the way out I’m more interested into who he signs at Cb and of course RB.
If sancho kicks on I could see him playing more of a false 9 with Garnacho and or Antony/Rashford in front.

Kane is no brainer IF Spurs are willing to sell

Why/Where do people think the money is coming from for a new striker? We spent the budget on Antony!

We have Martial, Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Garnacho and Elanga, plus we have Diallo to come back next season too.

This Kudos lad for Ghana looks decent, playing in midfield but should be up front.
