I was so happy with the news yesterday, but reading this thread makes it seem like every single option is even worse than the Glazers.

I think the logic of some of these fans is the more money the owner has, the less they would need to load the club up with debt and the more we can throw our financial weight to stay relevant.
They did not get so rich because they gave away their money. For them, like the Glazers, it is an investment. So we need a football fan owner who wants to put money in, not out

This person doesn’t exist when it comes to acquisitions of this level, unfortunately.

Someone who’s happy to just let the club run itself with the right people in charge is the zenith of what we can hope for, and would leave us competitive.

Some of you would genuinely prefer to keep the glazers instead of Emiratis? Am I reading that correctly?

The Glazers did allow us to spend a lot, more than most. There's no guarantee the new owners would as well.

Of course we should celebrate getting rid of the Glazers, but there's no guarantee that things will get better
Allow us to spend?! The clubs own money! It could spend much more without their constraints including the under investment in off pitch matters.

Oh and the huge debt they saddled us with and millions of dividends they take.

Can’t believe we are close to them finally going and the Caf still finds issue.

Wether you like it or not, it's their club so therefore their money. A new owner could refurbish OT and not spend anything else on the club as a consequence, Kroenke at Arsenal like.

Or we could get bought as a sportswashing project.

Not all possible outcomes are positive in this

It's insane, I wonder if they sleep happy knowing we ain't run by an oil club but the glazers when city lift the league every single season.

That oil state didn't just pump money into city, they made them a well run football club, with footballing people.

I genuinely don't think there can be an owner out there who could do a worse job than the Glazer. They treated the club more like a real estate agency extrapolated yearly dividends and have waited for the appreciation in value to capitalise on for a sale.

The UAE / state owned clubs propose sporting projects which as a business model has seen them often make sound footballing decisions more often than not. I have no real foundational knowledge about the matter but as others have stated Dubai does represent a metropolitan basis and it's well known that the income generated has been from tourism as opposed to the distribution of Oil.

You need to genuinely look at what the Glazers have done to United before supporting them.

Absolutely gobsmacked that even this amazing news has still been met with negativity. Some on here will literally never be happy, this is proof.
It’s unbelievable..

Then I realised it’s the Caf and the majority aren’t genuine fans of the club really.

Your mistake is thinking that every argument of 'it could be worse' is somehow supporting the Glazers. It doesn't matter what any of us here say, we're just observers to this whole process. But it's intellectually honest to acknowledge that it could be worse. The Glazers are bad owners, they're not the worst possible owners.

There's a lot of ignorance and lumping things together. I'd take Dubai but not sure about any of the other ones.

One thing I know, I want the rats out.

If i keep reading this thread, im gonna want to protest against the sale and start a 'glazers in' campaign.

Honestly, if we cant find a billionaire with a clean past who loves the club, i would just want anyone who wont need to take on some debt to buy us.

We don't need a sugar daddy, we generate a decent enough income.

Yeah I don't get it.

I admire the high ground, but in reality top clubs aren't owned by altruists, every owner has their skeletons, the Glazers likely included.

Our owners are going to be shit human beings irrespectively, thats just the reality. I'd rather we have cnuts who actually invest in the club and don't riddle us with debt.

I do draw the line at Saudis though.

No they would want to see a gain, but these types of buyers aren't just focusing on monetary gains. The image and brand they piggyback off is probably equally beneficial.

Yeah that's almost impossible.

And while we do generate good income, we're still going to need huge investments in our stadium, training facilities and squad if we have any hope of catching City and not falling behind Newcastle. Ratcliffe isn't giving us that, nor could the club afford it.

I'm OK with Dubai. Won't be fecking tight arsed like the yanks. And the most progressive within UAE. Not enough of course by quite a margin but the best of that lot.

I understand that but what I don’t like is people wumming about it when they have zero knowledge on the topic.

Calling them the ‘British Glazers’ because Nice aren’t winning the league and some of their disgruntled fans have complained on Reddit is beyond stupid.

By all means lay out the pros and cons of each buyer. I’m interested in that. Don’t shit post though and expect not to be called out.

No doubt about the Glazers, but so far, it is not clear whether we will head into a more optimistic future
No but think about the future if the Glazers don’t sell. They will never put their own money in, they can’t borrow more, debt will go up and they are as incompetent as they’ve always been. The commercial bubble has burst and the infrastructure isn’t fit for purpose but they can’t do anything about it. The future if they don’t go is very bleak.
