Apple is the best but most unrealistic option. They do need to add content to Apple TV + though and may see a move for a premier league team as a way in to a tv rights conversation.
The irony of people saying would they fund the club - look at it this way, buying us to them would be like going for a Nandos financially. Giving us a billion dollars a season for the upkeep of the team would be a minor marketing expense

'tis a silly place
Not sure how the Caf feels about Jonathan Shrager these days but he’s being cryptic on Twitter in the last few mins since the Apple speculation started

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
Oddly enough I don’t look for what Phelan Shorts thinks about everything - I replied to your post - the post where you said EPL teams such as Manchester United shouldn’t have any control of their own media distribution rights. I’m asking how you expect non-state clubs to compete with the likes of City - who are on course for their 6th title in 7 years - if they don’t - and on what basis you believe it to be fair to hamstring traditional clubs in that fashion. State owned clubs are here to stay whether you like it or not.

Now why don’t you try again and answer the actual question. SIGH.
My god you’re dumb.

Let’s walk through your own idea that this anti competition rule got brought in, who do you think will make the most money from this individual tv deal? Do you think it will be those that mickeza seems worthy, or do you think it’ll be the clubs whose owners are wealthy and with stakes in tv companies? Say, I dunno, the Saudi involvement in literally every major company, or maybe Abu Dhabi with all of their totally legitimate business partners?

There is not a single positive to making such a rule change, it actually just shifts the goalposts way further in favour of the state owned clubs, something that you somehow seem to think it will be the opposite of! How daft is that. You seemingly just want to hamstring every club in favour of state run clubs.

the Ronaldo story is big, but it isn't big enough that they need to fake a story about the sale of the entire club, don't be silly.

given they didn't need to publicly say that a sale is one of the options, clearly we are far, far ahead of where we were in the summer.
I didn't say it was fake, I said it was rehashing what we already knew.

They've openly admitted that they purposefully make the product you have already paid for not work, in order to force you to buy their new product. You got to be an absolute mug to buy an apple product after hearing that. Which brings me to my next point, Apple fanboys are insufferable, and if we get bought by Apple there's an additional half billion insufferable apple fanboys.
But you still haven’t said who you like? Anyone with the wealth to afford this are going to have issues of some sorts. Give us some alternatives.

Also, you’ve just described how every single product is ever made by any manufacturer

Yeah feels totally unrealistic doesn't it

How does Miele remotely access my vacuum to make it suck less? How does Vitamix access my blender remotely to make it blend less? That's just a lazy argument that you can't back up for a second because you want to protect the company you love or make yourself feel better for continuing to buy their products after they openly mugged you off.

So you think it will just die out?
I don't think it's anything we haven't already been told, that the club are looking for outside investment to fund infrastructure and if they can't get it on their terms they may sell. I may be wrong and it could be that they have tried and failed to get outside investment, have been Liverpool's owners put them up for sale and have thought it's time they sold up too, but I just found the timing of the announcement coincidental, coming just after Ronaldo leaving, a story which is damaging to the clubs commerical standing.

That was their excuse once they got caught
Yeah that's why I said allegedly in brackets.

I'm well aware I'm a bit of an apple fanboy to be honest, plus I genuinely couldn't do my work on any other laptop (software dev). It helps a lot when your team are all running the same operating system when working on a code base.
Support for MacOS with my day to day issues are way easier to resolve because millions of people have the exact same operating system and hardware as me and therefore likely have the same problems and subsequent solutions online.

I was a die-hard linux user for years, but I found myself spending more time going into online rabbit holes to deal with awkward bugs and stuff.
Once I switched to mac it was night and day to be honest. Linux is an open source OS maintained by hobbyists in their spare time. Macs have an OS that has dedicated teams of the world's best software engineers and designers that are paid millions to make it as fast, user-friendly as enjoyable to use as possible.

Yes they're a trillion dollar company with shady business practices but i wouldn't say I'm a mug for buying their products

Refuse to believe any of the Apple rumours but holy shit, we’d blow every other club out of the water and imagine a black kit with that white logo on it, it’d be up there with the Viewcam shirt and that’s actually the last official shirt I ever bought

Is there a way to set up a thread that has updates only with no user comments?

For example, only social media posts from reliable sources

Yeah, that's why they appeal to children and octogenarians. Sorry, can't pass up an opportunity to take a jab at apple. I get what you are saying, it's easy to use, and in many cases, a lot of people are forced users because it's easy to connect with other users and whatnot.

This is why I hate aggregators.

The reporter says he doesn't see Apple bidding with a shift in their strategy. But the aggregator chooses to cherry pick a positive line and push it out.
Haven’t they already bid for sporting rights? And I’d argue buying football clubs isn’t anybodys strategy to be fair

Incorrect.

The new news is they will sell. That wasn’t being said several months ago with Ratcliffe saying he’d been told the club was not for sale.

It’s definitely a huge and important change in stance

But surely they'll realise if the stock goes up because people think they're off, and then they aren't off, the stock would just plummet again?

Even they could not throw money at the club that would be lost. The shareholders would go crazy

Also, I know you didn't say this in your comment, but I think the argument that you overpay for Mac products isn't that true anymore. The development of apple silicon being fully integrated with the OS is quite revolutionary.
My macbook is the fastest machine I've ever used, hands down. And I was one of those geeks who built "epic gaming rigs" for years.
Yeah this device costs more but I can carry it around with me, do my actual work on it and work on my creative projects with it (video rendering and such). It never struggles and i've only heard the fan kick on once - all with 8 GB of ram

Only downside which I fully concede and would completely understand someone not wanting to buy a Mac for is the gaming on it (or lack-thereof) - just truly awful.

It would be a pretty empty thread.

If it makes you feel any better there has been no updates on apparent buyers from a reliable source.

People really think a company that makes phones and computers is going to spend billions of dollars to buy a football team :lol:

I know, but im sure it will heat uo over the next fee weeks.
It would be good to get any updates without having to scroll through pages.

Cheers for the update though

The next you'll tell me the same company has a TV service and commissions its own TV shows. Some people really are idiots and I'm thankful we have you to enlighten us all

I recall what Radcliffe said but the story as I remember it was they were looking for outside investment and may sell if they can't get it. I believe that is still the story it's just a different emphasis in the headlines.
