Clean slate then with all the optimism and hope that brings. So, what happened in the summer? Well, we didn't get weaker (I'm assuming no one leaves us tomorrow on WSL deadline day and we don't let anyone leave later!) and we did get more depth, if not necessarily better starters up front.

In defence, we picked up a top young talent in Maya le Tissier and an experienced centre back in Aïssatou Tounkara. We've also got Millie Turner back.

Spurs have strengthened as well.

What does it mean? Maybe we'll start to see on Saturday.

Match is live on Sky.

I’m looking forward to seeing our defence this year. Our midfield is quite good with Katie Zelem, Hayley Ladd, Vilde Bøe Risa, Lucy Stanisforth and hopefully Jackie Groenen to chose from. But defence has been a weak point with the lack of depth. Now it looks better. Millie Turner is back, one of the New Originals, and so is Aofie Mannion. Maya Le Tissier has looked a very inspired signing this summer, and Aissatou Tounkara should be solid. Batlle and Blundell are respectively very exciting and pretty solid on the back, and Le Tissier can play RB.

I’m most uncertain up top, if Adriana Leon and Lucy Garcia are improvements or just depth, but Ella Toone and Alessia Russo have come back England heroes and can hopefully continue taking steps.

Be interesting to see (a) when this & presumably the Reading home game will be rescheduled for, as I can't see any games being played the weekend of the funeral, and also (b) if the re-arranged Spurs away game will be played still in their "main" stadium, where this one was scheduled to be played, or if it will be at the usual Spurs women's stadium, if it is the latter, that will be very disappointing indeed.

Like all WSL fixtures United's match on Saturday has been postponed. No new dates yet, but as @MUW4Eva mentioned the cancellations come with a few extra complications for the WSL teams.

This was supposed to be part of the big launch to the season - a big match in a big stadium and a bumper crowd promised. A chance to build on the momentum of England's success in the Euros. Re-scheduling this as a midweek fixture, issuing ticket refunds and moving it to their normal stadium (9000 capacity) would be disappointing.

No news yet on whether next weekend's fixtures will go ahead. I don't really see why not. The police might be struggling for manpower if the PL matches go ahead - but that's not really an issue for United playing Reading at Leigh Sports village for example.

Police forces from across the country might be drafted in to help with the work of policing what will be the biggest funeral or event this country has perhaps ever seen, especially at somewhat short notice, (the Olympics in 2012 were planned well in advance), so I can see reasons sadly why WSL games might not go ahead, same for other high profile games.

I hope that I am completely wrong, as I would much prefer to start the season off at home, then away, which if, this second weeks of games are cancelled would be (to West Ham).

I guess hopefully we shall find out shortly.

Hopefully whenever this game is re-arranged for, it is still played at White Hart Lane, as it would be a huge disappointment if it were not to be, it would be a major step backwards.

With it being empty during the men's World Cup, surely it can be played there then??

No worries
I've received an email from United saying this match has now been scheduled for Sat 11th Feb, and that original tickets remain valid which I assume means this is still on at the men's stadium. Hopefully this gets confirmed.

It looks that way as the tickets are back on sale on the United site. Just picked up a pair for me and the boy.
