How would you rate the signing of Casemiro?

He was 30 when he joined us and didn't come cheap, but has there ever been a signing that has been such a perfect fit and has had such a direct impact as Casemiro? Shoot!

We have been crying out for a quality dm for a long time and the opening two games highlighted it. We then went and signed the best dm in the world

I still can't believe people were moaning at signing him. Makes such a difference to the team.

Cantona and Bruno great shouts though.

Hes quickly turned into one of the first names on the team sheet. We havent had a midfielder as good as him for a long long time. 7+/10 every game.

Too often we've seen a 30+ year old come in and have a good 1st season, only to falter as their legs go. I hope that doesn't happen to this fine specimen.

I guess the positive thing about Casemiro is that he looks like he'd be able to play CB till his mid to late 30s if it happens.

I didn't get to watch the likes of Cantona, Andy Cole, etc. So for me:
  1. RvP = 9/10. Won us the league, scored a shit ton of goals, perfect retirement for Sir Alex
  2. Bruno = 8.5/10. Helped transformed our performances and raised his own team mates', won us so many games and a CL spot
  3. Casemiro = So far 7.5/10 We desperately needed a DM so his impact is felt immediately and he is a good one at that. Still early and might revise once the season ends. My guess is he will end it with a solid 8

He's fecking unbelievable. Keep having to pinch myself that we've got him. Hope he can continue this high level of performance for at least another 2-3 years.

Bruno had a bigger impact (and I'm not trying to downplay Casemiro's influence), but let's wait for a full season first.

Casemiro is fantastic but many of us recognised it was the centre of midfield that was causing us the biggest issue(s).

It's beyond bizarre that the club failed to invest properly in CM for so long whilst blowing over £1BN net

Love him, but let's win something before he's the best signing ever, eh?

We paid a shit tonne of money and huge wages for one of the world's very best midfielders, and that's exactly what we got, so... no complaints.

The real issue is whether in two or three years, he's still performing at that level.

Very early but he’s been what I expected and much more. Great player.

It's difficult to say he's the best thing that's happened to the team for ages because there's been so much good going on with our saviour ETH, a return of watchable and even enjoyable football, Martinez, Varane, Shaw and Rashfords resurgence, Dalots development, Eriksen, Ronaldo fecking off etc but he has really made a massive, MASSIVE difference to how we play. No longer do we have a soft belly. Absolutely love the guy and can't quite believe RM let him go so easy. 2 - 3 seasons of this and he will have been a bargain.

Way too early for any conclusions. This is crazy. He is doing incredibly well and it's amazing to watch but comparing his signing with others is a bit disrespectful

Brilliant signing. Maybe more comparable with Van Persie given his age. Early days but Martinez looks a good one too.

9/10. We sorely needed a quality defensive midfielder for years and we finally got one of if not the best in the world. Not only that, his passing has also been a joy to behold.

If he can win a couple of trophies here, it will be a 10/10.

Is he the best Brazilian ever to play for united already? Who's his competition? Kleberson? Anderson? Fred?

Rafael? I think that title is Casemiro's if he wants it.

Not attempting to compare him with the likes of Cantona, Keane, Robson, Rooney etc. More like other players we've signed at the later end of their careers such as Van Persie, Schweinsteiger, Sanchez, Sherringham etc. Apart from RvP and Teddy maybe, I certainly can't remember a better signing than Casemiro.

United minus the Glazers
Let’s hope when we visit this thread sometime next year it wouldn’t be full of laughing emojis reflecting on his one and only wondrous season for us.

In all seriousness, I think he’ll perform well for us in the medium term giving us enough time to get his successor in, whoever that may be

Clearly a 10/10. He's instrumental in how United have transformed. Of course, things may change, but rarely have I seen anyone become so influential in such a short time. I would say RVP would be the closes in my memory, although I am aware that Cantona probably had an even greater impact than either.

It's a tentative rating. Obviously it can change, but how well has he played up till now, and how big is his impact thus far? In my opinion, he could hardly have done anything better by this stage. He truly is remarkably good, and the effect on the team is brilliant. If he is crap next season, or he instantly turns into Cleverley, then I will of course revise my take on him. So far though, he's been a 10/10 in my book.

I wasn't one of those moaning, but some of the reservations were understandable at the time given our recent history with paying so much for older stars when they had already achieved so much elsewhere. Luckily, it seems that Case still has the desire to compete and win more in his career. He's been fantastic and I hope he can keep it up for a few years.

Love him, I just hope we’re able to get a few decent years out of him after this one. When we signed Matic people were gushing over him but he was ready for the Travellers yard not long after.

Bruno. He came in and dragged a team that looked absolutely shite into a team that could finish within the top 4. His form last season was horrible, but I can't forget his first year. I think he gave a lot of fans some belief again.

Casemiro has been excellent, though. We needed a #6 for a long time and finally have a great one. I was concerned when he first signed. I thought we should be targeting a younger player. I was concerned that he wanted to come here for a final payday, but that hasn't been the case. Hopefully we can get some more good years out of him.

Martinez has also had an excellent start.
