I do wonder whether Gary knows more about this than he lets on. He’s a bit of a philanthropist in Manchester and you’d think any worthwhile investor would do research of the area and something gets heard in the business grapevine, about people connected with some affluent figures who have taken interest in the general area.

Not to mention his club contacts too obviously.

I doubt in there is much information in Manchester. Raine's US-based, Glazers are US based. Most of the info will stay between them. I am sure any financial, operational and strategic plans/packages have already been finalised to be offered to any potential buyer via Raine.

Sailing . In 2018, Ratcliffe and INEOS invested well over £100million in a bid, amongst other things, to claim the America’s Cup in 2021. INEOS Team UK, led by Ben Ainslie, lost an eliminator 7-1 and did not make the final.

Cycling . In the spring of 2019, Team Sky became Team INEOS after Ratcliffe sanctioned a deal said to be worth £40million a year. A Team Sky rider had won Le Tour in each of the four previous years and Egan Bernal duly made sure INEOS got off to a winning start. Since then, they have not won it.

Formula One. INEOS bought a third of the all-conquering Mercedes team ahead of the 2021 season, which saw them win an eighth consecutive constructors’ championship. In 2022, they did not even make the top two.

Football. INEOS own Nice - mid-table in France - and Lausanne-Sport, who were relegated from the top tier of Swiss football at the end of last season.

I don't think he is the white knight people think he is, but you can understand to a degree why some would want him over ME owners.
They may end up good owners and set the club up for success allowing us to use our own finances better, but I’m concerned that they wouldn’t put much money in, which could well be needed at this point

Yeah but have you taken where he was born into consideration?
A lot of posters in this forum are blinded by the "local born lad" angle. The new owner could be born in Mars for all I care, the important thing is to put money in this club and run it properly like a modern football club. Anyone could see we need a feck ton of investment to upgrade the whole club because the yankee leeches never put their own money in the club.

Wow that is incredibly skewed, looking at Formula one alone, INEOS have nothing to do with the running or funding of the team which is budget capped anyway, if it wasn't then Mercedes would have no lack of investment or funds, even setting that aside you have a huge number of factors which saw Mercedes miss out on the top 2 constructors last season, and if the season were to have started again straight away using the same cars Mercs would have be pushing 1 or 2 in constructors, although Verstappen would probably have be 1st Lewis and Russell would be 2 and 3 and the gap between 1st and 2nd would be less than it was at the end of 2022.

I do not know much about the other sports TBH but if your take on Formula One is anything to go by you may as well blame Mickey Mouse as INEOS, unless you are being all superstitious and saying that INEOS is bad luck in which case I say pah!

The point being made was just because he invests doesn't mean we'll have the success people seem to think we will with a British owner over a foreign one, whether its a USA group or ME owners.

I didn't make that report up, it came from the Financial Times.

Did you have more Guinness than usual this morning?
Proud to say never touched the vile horrible crap in my life and never will, as you either get a good pint or you get the one that gives ya the runs if you know what I mean.

He was alluding to Ratcliffe, not you so don’t worry  Almost choked on my lunch laughing seeing that.
Well if he was I will apologize, no issue there, just the way he worded it, it looked to me as if we're aimed at me.

Which is ironic because his company was fined for dumping caustic soda into the canals of Manchester

Don't forget that he was in Barcelona when Ole scored that great goal. That in itself (and his passport) is enough to forget all the rest
