I hate journalists. How can anyone possibly have had it said or inferred to them that an executive at Napoli has said "well look at what mudryk just went for". It's all made up speculative bullshit.
It's not unfortunately, this deal seems to have been an outlier for what's going to happen this summer. Last summer it was that French lad who went to Madrid for £80m and we all remember the impact Neymar had on the market. Expect daft prices this summer as well, these kinds of deals tell everyone there's more money in the market than people are letting on.

Pretty sure Chelsea will be after him the minute we make our bid and happy to spend whatever Napoli will be asking for, so unless we get new owners in before Summer I don't see this happening at all. Osimhen seems exactly like the type of signing our new owners would make as their statement though it's hard to imagine we will be taken over by someone insane enough to outbid Chelsea.
Yeah we are only in race with rich new owners

I think he’ll be the flagship name we sign under the new owners. If Ten Hag thinks he’s perfect for our side then go get him

I don't see us spending 150m Euros(133m pounds) and also bringing other positions(GK, CM etc)

It will be more Sensible to bring cheaper option like Goncalo Ramos and other positions

I dunno, we said Martinez was too much, Casemiro not worth for his age etc but we went after his first choices and got them done. Even FDJ would have been done if he wanted to leave.
I don’t see us going after 2nd or third choices of choice number 1 is available

'Sensible' and 'cheaper' being mentioned in regards to a Benfica player

Wasn't it reported that one of the reasons Oshimen chose Napoli over us was because he didn't want to compete with Igalo?

We were one of the favorites to get him when he left Lille:

Seems like United is really big in Nigeria, despite us really never having any Nigerian players? Besides Igalo and some youngsters, Shola?, I can't think of any Nigerian players that have played for us.
Man Utd is Arguably the most supported club in Nigeria with Chelsea and Arsenal.

Yeah I'm not convinced this is the right man for us but ETH hasn't got anything wrong so far so I bow to his wisdom

Why do we need a lot of intermediaries?
The only good argument I've read (in the recent Athletic article about United's recruitment) is so that you can agree a price with a club so that the club doesn't add a United tax. However, it would obviously defeat the purpose of doing that if you're going to leak to the papers that you are the club doing so.

The only way to get Oshimen is probably to convince him to force his way out of Napoli.

Napoli haven’t won the league in ages. They have no need for financing, have sold a lot of players lately. They are competing for the CL. If they keep everyone for next season, they will again run away with the league and compete for the CL. The longer they keep the team together, the better for them. They can of course always sell Oshimen for like 125-150m up until 2024 (his contract runs to 2025).

But if he wants out, Napoli might budge. But I would not be surprised if it was really hard to snatch him next summer.

Osimhen would probably cost the same amount as Kane but he's a hell of a lot younger and probably easier to get here than Kane

I think Osimhen will probably cost more than Kane. Quite considerably more.
Indeed.

Though players like Sesko and Osimhen will also hold their value better than Kane will too due to their age, so that factors into the price.

Napoli paid £70m for him so they're gonna want at least £120-£130m. Just put it on the overdraft right?

Oh absolutely. The long-term payoff from Osimhen or Sesko has the potential to be quite a bit higher than with Kane. In the short-term, though, Kane is probably the closest thing you could get to a sure-bet.

Is he really 24? Or as David Moyes once said is he a nigerian 24? (Accusation thats been levelled at a few players from continents of africa and south america for doctoring their actual age: Yakubu, Obfemi Martins, Falcao etc).

guessing his cost will be 110m plus addons....Kane to stay in the PL is going to cost 85m-100m which isn't that much less

haha....that certainly is a question and no one really knows if it is a legit age or not but he clearly fits the profile of what ETH wants in a number 9

I'm not sure, I think you're probably looking at a fair bit more than 110 million for Osimhen...

.€100 million plus for a guy coming from Italy of all places is mad. Different ball game in the PL and a huge risk. Are we sure ETH even wants an out and out goal scorer as a striker? He only ever talks about Martials pressing and hold up and movement…he doesn’t seem to be bothered by the lack of goals or poacher type goals that Kane and Osimhen score.

I think we will be surprised by who he actually brings in. Don’t reckon it will be the high profile singing everyone is craving.
