Sancho to come in off the bench. We have a nice run coming up and the toughest week of the season is over now, so good time to rotate the next 3 cup games.

On the bright side Casemiro will be rested. Unlike every other manager post SAF, I fully expect ETH side to be mightily annoyed by the last two games and to take it out on Forrest. 4-0.

As a sub maybe, not a start
Doubt it will even be that. I reckon Erik has got Reading game as his target as it's the perfect game to introduce him back in. If he comes through that he might feature in the second leg against Forest you'd hope.

We need Martial to stay fit for a few months and Sancho to get his mojo back badly. The squad just isn't big enough on quality to not have both contributing

Would be nice to go full pelt and rack up at least a 3 goal lead for the second leg, to give us a brief period of calm and some breathing space on this ridiculous schedule we have (aren‘t we the only English team in 4 competitions?)

So I can’t wait for us to grind out a 1-0 win this week, and look forward to a nail biting second leg.

Changes are needed a lot of the starters today were out of juice by the 70th minute. I'm expecting a tough 1st leg against a Forest side that have been decent at home this season.

Go full strength for this and kill the tie off( although it’s never that straightforward for us and forest will be in it till the end of OT tie) - but would love it if for a change we can get it done soon.
Forest are coming into this game with some momentum and are playing good. Their Forward 3 looks handful with pace and we would have to be on our top form and not how we have been playing in the last two games. We have to start taking our chances and get this over the line. No excuses if we can’t win this cup

    We must win this cup.

I don’t care if ‘it’s only’ the League Cup, the feel good around winning it could be massive for us. We have to win it. Casemiro back in & a decent win going into the 2nd leg please.

    Drop Eriksen and rest Shaw.
Drop? Sure lets drop the guy with the most assists in the team. Get Scotty in there!!!! :houllier:

We need to go full strength and kill the game in the first half.
Sancho on in the second half.

We haven’t won a trophy in what, half a decade? No trophy is Mickey Mouse at this point.

Like EtH said post match, ‘If you want to win trophies you must change your mentality’.

Eriksen, Varane and Rashford need an extended break as they've played none stop. Martinez I'd let keep working with Varane against Reading so they play every 7 days.

Hope Sancho and Dalot can come off the bench and then potentially start against Reading.

Start Pellistri in this game and give Antony a rest and Weghorst may get some decent service.

Casemiro should be back in. A start for Garnacho. Eriksen needs a rest. Maybe Varane too.

As Utd have Reading on Saturday, it gives ETH a chance to rest his main players at the weekend.

We should play the strongest (or almost) XI. We should not let them believe at something, and we have to win a game to forget Arsenal and Palace.

It will be tough but if we are playing like we do at the moment we should be win or at least bring something positive.

We have tp play the strongest team available.
We have not won anything for a fecking age.
Might be a minor cup, but whats the point of being in a semi final, if you dont play your best available team

After my last prediction of “I really fancy us to get something” At OT working so well, I’ve obviously learned nothing cos I fancy us on a cold midweek cup semi, under the lights with a sold out City Ground rockin’. We will definitely go full strength in both games as we don’t have a game inbetween. What that full strength will be as the injuries are biting I don’t know + Cooper is a bit of a fibber when it comes to when players are fit. Just to make it interesting: Boly scored against his old Club Wolves in the last round, Surridge Vs Bournemouth at the weekend and Jesse is fit again after his OT knock.

Can you please not score an early goal this time?

Thought that might get some love. We've just played City, Palace away and Arsenal away in a week and the squad is fairly thin. This is a two legged game with Old Trafford in the 2nd leg. I think the back 5 and 2 CMs are fine and nobody would be overly surprised if we lined up with them. It's only the front 4 who are backups and even then there's Garnacho who's on the edge of the first 11.

Swap Mainoo for Bruno and it looks completely different.

The City ground is going to be absolutely bouncing for this. Their first semi final in how long against United.

With our tired legs i'd be happy getting out of there with the scores level tbh. People predicting 4-0 wins are being quite unrealistic IMO.

My team for this would be
    Butland
    AWB/Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Malacia
    Fred - Casemiro - Iqbal/Mainoo
    Pellistri - Weghorst - Garnacho

Full strength. Win comfortably. Rest a few vs Reading and a few more in the return leg. Basic squad management.

I don't think it does look completely different. You've still got the very easily penetrated midfield, and worse, the classic defensive pairing of Maguire and Lindelof, who we have seen make error after error. I know its only the league Cup, but I'm super keen to win this. Not averse to bringing in Garnacho and maybe even Pellistri but I think we need a bit more there in the defence. Case to shield Maguire and Lindelof, or Martinez in place of one of them at least.

People are mad picking the backup XI, this is a semi-final away to Premier League opposition! The rotation will come in for the Reading game at the weekend.

Sancho is ready hopefully he can get 60 mins at least. Garnacho to start, Antony should play full 90. Maguire in Varane rested Martinez should be fine Malacia in Shaw out . Dalot fit would be great AWB looked jaded. Casimero back in . Martial fit would be great as well. Weghorst otherwise again.. a 2 nil win be great rest players at OT. Reading at OT On sat night should be OK .

It's all speculation given we've no idea on the fitness of the individual players and who are carrying knocks etc. Ten Hag will be planning multiple games at once and in advance too for sure and can hopefully keep us as fresh as possible.

Casemiro in for McTominay and then rest him against Reading ready for the 2nd leg is easily viable, I agree. I think Maguire and Lindelof on Wednesday would be fine though.

Good opportunity to bounce back and rebuild confidence after two fisappointing results. Should be looking at 3-4 changes max... as should be the case for any semi-final we reach. We're a very winnable three games away from a trophy.

    De Gea

    Malacia
    Martinez
    Varane
    AWB

    Fred
    Casemiro
    Bruno

    Rashford
    Antony
    Weghorst

Fringe players and those returning from injury can get minutes on Saturday

The first team is dead on their feet. The final 20 mins of the last two games tells us that. There has to be changes made. And other than Rashford, we are hardly pulling up trees in midfield or going forward. Changes need to be made there too. Fred was a sub at Arsenal and Casemiro did not play so they will be fresh. Bruno and Eriksen are tired and are not playing well. They need to be rested.
Garnacho and Pellistri can do a job out wide. Garnacho is already a bonafide first teamer and Pellistri was great against Charlton. Why not play them both? If they don't look good after 45 or 60 mins, you can make a change.

In defence, Shaw is tired. It showed against Saka yesterday. Varane also needs to be nanaged as he is playing so many games in a short period of time coming off an injury last month. If Maguire can't do a job at Nottingham Forest, he should be sold immediately.
