True, although the best talents develop themselves to a certain degree as long as they're getting the minutes, Greenwood for example.
Greenwood's actually a terrible example of a player developing themself. His goal tally decreased, year on year, after his debut season. Plus we don't know how much of his off-field behaviour might have been fuelled by putting someone in the spotlight who wasn't ready for that sort of attention. Hard not to wonder how much more carefully a manager like Fergie might have been about managing his introduction to first-team football. Which also makes me think ETH knows what he's doing with Garnacho.

"Martial...He's isolated Skrtel here..."
And how good could Greenwood have been if a coach like Ten Hag was developing him? The Greenwood we saw was raw talent, and he had loads of it, but no one was properly developing him as a player.
I actually thought he went up a level last year before Ronaldo was brought in. He looked fantastic up front in that Leeds game, and then we all found out he was a rapist.

People that are constantly bitching about our striker options always forget that we basically lost a 100m talent there alongside the Ronaldo debacle.

Can't believe he has just thrown it all away

On MG: I think whilst he got second season syndrome'd in terms of teams reading how dangerous he was in front of goal and not gifting him space or time to shoot, I do think he was a lot better at driving with the ball in his second season. Much quicker and cleaner in his dribbles.

oh 1000% right ....Ravel was never a loss IMO

Mason proved he was premier league ready....set us back terribly with his act of stupidity and disgust

Amad is showing the championship is a good level for him

Yeah I 100% agree with what you're saying. Greenwood's development wasn't to the level it could've been under a top coach, but when he first moved from the U23's to the first team in his first season you could see him developing in his own way game to game, getting to grips with the men's game, it wasn't until his second season he started to dip once his first team place was secured. I feel like Amad's development would've been very similar under a coach like Solskjaer, good enough technically to shine and grow in experience even under poor coaching, but wouldn't have developed to his maximum potential and potentially picked up inhibiting habits along the way.

It's quite clear that he is a level above, standout players in the Championship are ready for PL

Have far more confidence this will play out positively for us now under the guidance of Ten Hag and his staff.

Garnacho and Amad next season

I’d bring him back now. For me he starts ahead of Antony or Weghorst. He is flying at the moment. Just the sort of spark we need upfront. And he’s free.

It’s an absolute no brainer. We are in 4 competitions, playing 3 games a week, so he is getting games. So don’t give me that ruining his development nonsense.

If you and I were the manager, sure. We will have to see what ETH wants. I'd have given Pellestri more minutes too. It is what it is. We have to trust ETH. He has obviously earned it

Yeah, MG was much more effective and dangerous than our current options at RW. He was just an insanely talented footballer.

Really interesting to see his development at Sunderland. I always thought he got a raw deal at Rangers. After falling out of favour, unfairly I’ll add, he showed glimpses of a tidy footballer at the tail end of last season.

He is now performing at a high level in a league that is much superior to the SPL. Makes me wonder if he could have contributed to the Europa League run that he was excluded from. We started Scott Wright in the final, an extremely average player who can’t get near a Scotland squad.

He 100% could. He was the most talented player at rangers by a distance.

Gio totally mismanaged him. Playing Wright and Sakala ahead of him - they got what they deserved.

Assume you haven’t read the thread?
I scrolled through quickly.

"Couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo"

Now I went back and seen this

"Let's face it, no-one else is going to take a punt on such a rank average player, he may as well stay with us to see if we can do anything with him.

I wonder if any Man United fans will see this thread and misunderstand it"!

So if that Sunderspunk fan seen this, you got me.

Quite frankly I had completely even forgotten about this guy. Loans to the Championship however do leave the players with tons of experience gained.

Seems he is finally on a loan where things go better for him.

I’m half inclined to screen shot you falling for it and creating an account on there just to show them that you took the bait

Do you lot think he would come back for next season and give us good option on the right?

I am tired of seeing out of form Antony and out of favoured Sancho, so why not try Diallo there instead, who happens to be younger and probably just as talented.

I did as well, the goals decreased but his link up play and his all-round game improved..still really pissed off.

It seems the recall clause has expired now so he's definitely staying at Sunderland for the rest of the season.

Some more quotes from Mowbray a couple of days ago;

“I had a long chat with Les Parry (Manchester United’s elite player performance manager) about him this week, I think he's got the talent to play for Man Utd.

“The question is whether he's got the personality to play there and break through that ceiling. He had a disappointing loan at Rangers last year but I couldn't pick a team without him right now.

“The ball sticks to his foot, he sees every pass and works really hard. We've worked hard on getting him to shoot more regularly, and so I can see his belief and his personality growing.

“The hope is he goes back to Man Utd, does what he does and finds himself around their team. He'll get opportunities I bet in pre-season and then it's down to him.

“I've managed players like Harvey Elliott at Blackburn - he's a similar talent, plays with his head up.

“The ball is so easy for Amad, he doesn't have to think because he can just kill it dead and he sees the pass straight away. It's unbelievable how clever he is with the football. The talent will never be a problem for Amad. I'll be really interested to see how he goes.”

Yeah I agree. Gio tried to cover who his own wrong doings by letting a young loanee take the heat for a humiliating defeat against the other side of Glasgow. His man management and stubbornness was very questionable at times.

It’s a shame really because we having been crying out for a left footed right winger and I think he would have thrived within Beale’s system if a loan extension had been agreed. Good luck to the boy.

Yeah, Amad is class and it's no surprise at all to see him performing like this. It was such a waste by Rangers.

Is it a troll thread?
Its a thread in good humor.

"What he really needs is to be either put out on loan to Sunderland for another three years, or better for all given a free transfer to Sunderland. Just saying."
