Bloody hell. Would you be happy with that? Think he's decent but seems a lot, especially if that's all your budget gone in one!
I think he's definitely the type of player we need in our midfield and club right now but that's very steep...

If you let him focus on high pressing and making late runs into the box he could be decent. The problem is he can't pass the ball to save his life and he's actually pretty bad at controlling passes as well. Needs to be in a team that will let him embrace the chaos he brings to a match - he's not suited for a top team right now at all.

40m for him? Madness. Teams are well gonna up their prices on their midfielders in the summer. FDJ must be worth around 100m then.

How come Chelsea can always make so much money off of their mediocre squad players??? 45m for fecking Gallagher?

He's such an Everton-looking player. This description on the Everton forum:
He's absolutely trousers. Mark Noble with an Ocado account.

It seems like a good deal for both sides. I wish we could do business like this in terms of selling players. Fecking Woodward gave any player who barely hangs in there with us ridiculous contracts and we’re stuck selling them.

Axel Tuanzebe gets paid the same as Conor Gallagher(!) according to Sportrac for context. Brandon Williams earns more than Gallagher too if you want to feel even more fecked off.

He could do better than moving to a team that are in a tough relegation scrap. Should wait and move to a club pushing Europa spots tbh.

He's not as shit as people are making out. Just playing for a very bad Chelsea team right now. It was only last season he was getting plaudits playing for Palace.

Hardly, if he has the same impact as last season for palace.

Same price as Garner and McNeil combined.
Not really the best comparison. It's quite clear McNeil isn't a 20m player and is probably more a 10m with add-ons player currently. Just like Gordon isn't a 40m + 5m player either.

Gallagher should be a 20-30m player with add-ons but English tax and our desperation strikes again.

Yeah, it's weird how many people are shitting on him. I do think he's more of an athlete than a footballer at times but he did get 8 goals and 5 assists for Palace last season which is decent for his first PL runout and he's only 22. We severely lack goals in midfield currently and the type of work rate he provides.

McTominay gotta be worth £60m then, he’s more experienced and has done far more in the game (and at a higher level) than Conor Gallagher, who’s had a decent season at Palace and has been complete toss since going back to Chelsea.

He’s going to be a good player for many years but doesn’t appear he’ll reach the heights we had hoped so I’m fine selling him. Had thought entering this season that he could pull a Mason Mount and return from a good loan to become a key player for us but he has been very disappointing.

Everton will suit him well. He needs to be playing every game to show his best form which he was never getting here.

That's just the market though. If he didn't have that spell with palace it'd be around there.

PL proven is actually important here as you need an immediate impact. Can't think of anyone better for that price without the risk of adapting to the league.

It will be interesting to see who else we sign if this goes through. I thought we would go for a winger and striker rather than a CM!

Everton really do lube up their butt holes for every other club but become stingy when it comes to bidding for any of our players. £40m for Gallagher is a joke, he's been found out for his level this season.

Not sure I would accept a move to Everton if I was Connor.

Not without a relegation clause.

I think he should leave to guarantee first-team football. At £40m it is a good deal for both parties. With the amounts that Chelsea and Arsenal are offering for players, the prices for a while are going to be skewed upwards.

45 million for Gallagher, do our players have an automatic valuation of 20 million lower than anyone else?

Think a few other clubs will be trying to sign perceived surplus-to-requirement players such as RLC and Ziyech, maybe even Chalobah and Colwill.

I’d take it. Really like him but that’s as good an offer as we’ll ever get.

Rubbing your hands together to get rid of your academy prospects.

Everton make some of the worst signings in the league have spent the last 10 years buying uninspiring British players, the difference between them and a side like Brighton is huge in terms of scouting network.

A large fee for him, I would be snapping their hands off for that money if the player will make the move.

Would be a terrible move for him. With our without him, there has to be at least a 50% chance of Everton going down and then who knows when you're back up. Many people thought Villa would be back up immediately when they got relegated and it took them three years and a bunch of ownership turnover.

He isn't good enough for Chelsea but he should have many better options in the summer. And its not like he has just been rotting on the bench all year. He has played in 25 matches.

I'd be very surprised if a) Chelsea don't put a buy back clause in and b) Gallagher puts in a relegation clause assuming the deal is made and Chelsea/he doesn't reject us!

Newcastle have shown interest in him.
