I can imagine this going over well with those who blame the manager for playing club employee Christian Eriksen in a game of football

Bad news, but we'll be fine.

I'm convinced Newcastle paid that cnut to go out and break legs.

Andy Carroll is a horrific footballer; should retire to save face.

One of a few positions where a long term injury would really hurt us, unfortunately. Nobody can do what he does.

I wouldn't even say he's been outstanding (but still quite good) but for what he brings to the team he's irreplaceable. Also Andy Carroll is a nonce.

We need to stop playing our best players in all games so they are always available.

Big drop in creativity now. We'll need Casemiro, Bruno, Antony and Rashford to contribute even more.

Big loss considering Ten Hag seems to revolve most of the team dynamics on him and we don't have a good replacement for the roles he does on the pitch.

There are few uglier sights than a bitter player who flopped badly at the highest level taking their rage out on a classy person like Eriksen.

I don't know whether I have more pity or contempt for Carroll.

He was the one player I didn't want to play in that game, but more because he needed a rest than any clairvoyance around bad tackles. These things happen and I think we've enough decent players to cover.

Scumbag Andy Carroll.

That's our build up play kinda fecked unless we get a good replacement who can move the ball. Fred isn't consistent and McTominay is definitely not that type of player.

Should have started to thrash something out for a body or two on loan immediately after the match on Saturday. We cannot be that fecking skint and we couldn't assume the cost of one or two loans.

I'm convinced Carroll set out in the second half especially to hurt someone.

He was only on the pitch 2nd half for 20 minutes and yet he managed to injure Eriksen, he smashed into Malalcia with no attempt to even pretend to get the ball and then he tries to snap Casemiro in two. I don't know what the issue was but there's not a chance it was just unlucky or he didn't mean it. He went out to injure people.

As for us, it's just a massive fecking blow. Eriksen is quality and even if he's having an average game he can pop up with a great assist or an amazing pass to start a move that leads to a goal, he started the move that led to the opener on Saturday with one leg for feck sake.

We're not getting anybody in so it's going to be a struggle now in terms of creativity.

Why? Tomorrow would have been an even better opportunity to rest him. The difference between 7 days vs 10 days rest means feck all. A lot of you don’t seem to realise what footballers do most days of the week. They play football. Injuries like this can happen in training.

terrible news for us. Here's hoping Fred can continue his form with Casemiro holding in behind. Either way, we lose a ton of on the ball ability, but at least gain some "energy" in there.

Martinez gets elbowed in the face the week before and has to wear head gear in following games = doesn't even warrant a card.

Eriksen victim if two feet off the ground tackle, out for basically rest of season = not even a card.

Seriously what the actual feck. ETH has to bring this up in press conferences like other managers do. It needs to be highlighted.

pretty sure teammates don’t scissors tackle each other like that in training.

That is sh*t. But I am looking forward to seeing if Fred can step up a bit, and with his energy, the intensity of the midfield will improve, which I hope will make up a bit.

Really shit to lose our most creative player. We struggled to break teams down before he arrived and might do so again. Shame we can't afford to buy a new midfielder to replace him since we kind of need options anyway.

Andy Carroll is honestly such a shadow of a footballer. I remember hearing pundits compare him to "old fashioned number 9's" the issue is old fashioned number 9's could control a football and bring others into play he is just tall. Ponytail prick.

Andy Carroll first went after Eriksen and then Casemiro. Casemiro was able to jump. Looking at both tackles, I have no doubt at all that Carroll's intent was to injure them both. He doesn't have a chance to reach the ball in any of the situations and he tackles with full strength and his whole body weight. It's against the 2 players who have changed United's midfield, and it makes sense to go after exactly those two if you're a real idiot.
