What a night. We were 0-2 down at Molineux in a 6th round replay. We pulled it back to 2-2 then Sammy Mac netted the winner. The atmosphere was electric. Loads of reds from all over made the trip and the place was packed beyond capacity.

A 17-year-old Sammy McIlroy leaves Alan Oakes on the ground during his debut at Maine Road in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Sammy scored one in the game. One of the most memorable derby games I can remember.

In September 1972, United paid £200,000 for Bournemouth striker, Ted MacDougall. He didn't stay too long and was sold by Tommy Docherty to West Ham.

United fans at Blackpool in October 1974, Football League Div.2. We won 3-0 with goals from Forsyth, Macari, and McCalliog. United fans had most of Bloomfield Road that day.

1974. April. We though we might be in with a chance after beating Everton at home 3-0. Here Sammy Mac takes on the Everton defence.

Old Trafford circa 1975. Check out the bags and flares on display.
Thats actually a brilliant picture. My dad first went to see United against Wolves in 79 ( we lost 1 3) and said that he was never more scared in his life when the calvary confronted the fans.

1967. Photo taken from the pitch level of the Stretford End Paddock. We had the infamous slope even then.
What an amazing photo, the chimneys in the background harking back to the industrial beginnings of United, love it.

Trafford Park was, at that time, the biggest industrial estate in Europe.
Absolutely, I absolutely understand that in the modern world people want more comfort and amenities (and there's nothing wrong with that - not having a dig) but personally I've always loved OT and don't want it to change, even when my feet are so cold I can't feel them, kind of an excuse to make sure you spend as much time standing and singing as possible!

The picket fences, chimney's in the background, the slope... if the place get's a proper workover that slope is surely a goner, and the place will feel so much cleaner and modern etc, and progress isn't a bad thing, but I will miss it, the way I expect those that were there before the 90s update felt.
