Wtf are these goldeneye controls? It’s hard to turn around properly to face forward and at one point my gun was aimed towards the sky and wouldn’t come down no matter which way I moved my controls.

Luckily I don’t particularly care for James Bond so will probably never touch it again but that was a total waste of five minutes!

I totally understand, Persona can be a bit of a drag with all the dialogue and stuff so starting over can be a pain. Yeah I would recommend Royal purely off of the extra content (two new characters) and the little gameplay extras they've added are nice. I liked both, they changed some boss battles in Royal though. If you end up liking (or disliking) the game you should check out the Shin Megami Tensei franchise as well. Same company, almost identical gameplay mechanics, but darker themes and a bit more 'mature'.
Will do mate thanks. I got P5 Royal off Shop2 for 32 quid, cheapest I saw on ebay was 40 so I figured I should at least make my money back if I don't like it.

It sounds like the Switch controls are borked. I saw this 'fix' earlier, maybe worth trying?

Apparently they are going to announce a release date for Advance Wars 1+2 reboots sometime soon, and the games are supposed to have been ready for the last year but were delayed due to war in Ukraine so they could be coming out very soon. Quite excited about that, I remember loving the originals on GBA.

Can't state enough how great Chained Echoes is. Balances the nostalgia of a classic JRPG with a modern feel perfectly. Never wastes your time - characters move fast, there's not too much dialogue, no random encounters, no grinding. Just great.

I picked up the two original GBA games, because I just couldn't wait for the remake any longer.

It's a load of shit. The controls are beyond frustrating (and I don't want to do a work around... It should just work). Also, we were playing 4 player and it splits the screen... Like we were on one TV :houllier:
Ah right. The controller thing should’ve been sorted. They’ve gone way too authentic with that second issue. Should be optional.

It's an emulation of the original N64 game, not a remaster. Of course its going to look and work exactly the same. It has the same issues every N64 game has running on every emulator. It's a genuine product of it's time.

Every time I try to run anything on an N64 emulator with a modern control pad, it's a nightmare as the buttons don't map in a straightforward way because the configuration of the original game pad was so different. This is the one thing I think they should have addressed on all of these N64 games on Switch though. I also found Ocarina of Time unplayable because of it.

I've never played an N64 game outside of N64 so this is new to me.

I think a lot of people forget the limitations and foibles of old tech and get a massive shock when they go back to it. Goldeneye would need a total rebuild to get it up to modern expectations.

But surely they could have worked on the controls? That's the worst bit... It's basically unplayable.

I got a 7 days free promotion code for Nintendo Switch Online.
I will try it out just for the retro games library and Switch Sports online, but I'm most of the time an offline solo gamer, so I don't think it will add anything to my Switch experience.

However, I just downloaded a free game off Nintendo Switch Online: Tetris 99.
Can I still play the game after the 7 days subscription has ended? I know Nintendo's retro games can only be played with an active Switch Online membership, but what about Tetris 99?

No, it'll be gone once your subscription ends

I’ve got the N64 and Mega Drive switch controllers that I haven’t unboxed yet and I’ve just seen they are going for like £150 on eBay! What the fudge. Have Nintendo stopped making them?

Cheers. Damn. Well, There's always the physical copy. Shouldn't be too expensive right? It's Tetris.
Tetris 99 is not really the same as Tetris though. It's a battle royale Tetris.

There's no classic single mode or classic splitscreen mode?
There is a DLC "big bloc dlc" that has some offline modes (so you don't need NSO) but maybe you will like better the Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 or 2 game (and it seems it is better for single player) or Tetris Effect

I honestly can't remember, but the battle royale thing is great.
Thanks for the input.

I played the battle royale mode against 99 other players online and it's really fun. Much more fun than offline single player.

I played for two hours straight. I even got first place once. I took a picture of that first spot and I will show it to my kid tomorrow morning. :)

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance stuff they've added to the online subscription. Not really looked at much other than Minish Cap, but it's a Zelda game I've not played before and it's a good one. Hopefully GameCube and DS will make it to the system soon.

Yeah GBA takes my interest the most. There's lots of good games on that system and the prospect of Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Metroid Fusion (and hopefully more) really entices me.

There's only a handful of stuff on it at the moment. Wario Ware, Super Mario Advance 4, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Mario Kart Super Circuit, LoZ Minish Cap and something called Kurukuru Kururin.

My hope is that they start to release stuff with greater regularity, but after 6-7 years or whatever it's been since Switch launched, I'm not holding my breath.

Did Nintendo even make an announcement that they were adding GB and GBA games to subscription? I hadn’t even heard any teasers beforehand or anything…the caf is the first I am privy to this
