    Know the Opposition

Real Betis Balompié, known as Real Betis or just Betis (and nicknamed Los Verdiblancos (The Green-and-Whites)), is a Spanish professional football club based in Seville in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Betis' city rivals Sevilla FC were the first club in Sevilla, founded in October 1905, while a second club, España Balompié were established in September 1907. "Balompié" translates literally as "football", as opposed to the most commonly adopted anglicised version, "fútbol". Balompié was founded by students from the local Polytechnic Academy, and were in operation for one year before being officially recognised (in 1909) as Sevilla Balompié; despite this, 1907 remains the official foundation date of the club. In 1914, they merged with Sevilla Balompié. The club received its royal patronage in the same year.

During the Spanish Second Republic (1931–1939), royal patronage of all organisations was nullified, and thus the club was known as Betis Balompié until after the Spanish Civil War when it would revert to the full name. The club reached the Copa del Presidente de la República final for the first time on 21 June 1931, when it lost 3–1 to Athletic Bilbao in Madrid.[9] Betis marked their 25th anniversary year by winning their first Segunda División title in 1932, finishing two points ahead of Oviedo FC, thus becoming the first club from Andalusia to play in La Liga. Under the guidance of Irish coach Patrick O'Connell on 28 April 1935 Betis won the La Liga, to date their only top division title. Real Betis also won the Copa del Rey in 1977, 2005 and 2022.

Given the club's tumultuous history and many relegations, its motto is ¡Viva el Betis manque (aunque) pierda! ("Long live Betis even if they lose!"). Betis have a long-standing rivalry with city neighbours Sevilla FC. The two contest the El derbi Sevillano, and have met 114 times in official competition, with Sevilla holding a 45% win ratio over Betis (31%). The club plays its home games at Estadio Benito Villamarín n the south of the city with a 60,720-seat capacity.

Honestly, that performance today has made me not wanna watch United for a while. They've lost so much goodwill.

They have no real pace but will put an equal shift like Liverpool with a better midfield. Hope we get a bounce from this humiliation

Whisper it quietly but getting knocked out on away goals or penalties would be a blessing in disguise. Our squad is nowhere near ready to be playing all these games.

Remember when we'd get a humiliating result under SAF, then would come out fired up in the next match and win 5-0 while playing scintillating football?

Yeah, that's probably not gonna happen.

I suspect the manager will have to drop several players to send a message and draw a line that that was unacceptable. You cannot have continuity after that.

Play the kids. We can't have distractions like the Europa League when we're gonna be in a battle to hold on to top 4 now.

Would love to know who in Europe has these comprehensively deeper squads,

Yes, the FA cup. Which is only 2 more games to the final.

It’s 6 more games to reach to EL final.
There's no team like Man City in the EL to worry about

    De Gea
    AWB - Lindelof - Martinez - Malacia
    Casemiro
    Bruno - Fred
    Sancho - Rashford - Garnacho

The biggest test in EtH's tenure.

Time to remove Europa as a priority, fixture pile up has caught up to us.

The games are coming too fast. Make it stop.
Disagree. The next game can't come quick enough - we need to get that shit result out of our system.

Ring the changes by all means but I'm thankful we don't have to wait a whole week chewing on that.

These Real Betis lads are probably confused what to expect from us now.

Need all help from Old Trafford to get back from this wreck fest.

The best response is a win.

We've 4 important fixtures before international break. Need to win all of them.

Still hoping we come third and win treble of cups

    Under soil heating.
It’s the next game, of course we have to take it as seriously as possible. Last thing we need is a proper humbling at home.

How much of a break is the international break? I presume loads of players will be involved?
Rashford, Bruno, Casemiro, Shaw, Martinez, Antony, Garnacho, Dalot, Malacia and Weghorst will all be involved in it so it's not a break at all. Only relevant people it gives a break is Varane, Sancho, Fred and AWB.

Hoping for something like this. I think Bruno and Shaw should be dropped after their antics in the second half, but we'll see how EtH handles it...
