It's more boring than usual. Not sure how it's better at all, it's like covid football with no crowds.

Funny as feck though.

My biggest issue with this show is that I still struggle to see the United graphic in the opening credits. Every week I get to see the the opening I stare and look but it’s very subtle and disapponting.

West Ham get a full animation of hammers clanking together. Most disappointing.

Be interesting to see how many viewers it gets
I reckon it'll get a fair few due to those watching out of morbid curiosity. Such as me.

It's utter shit, though. All they've done is show how essential all those missing components are tonight.

Will they even show the league table at the end? I guess no production team means no table either?

I was hoping for some basic as feck Windows Movie Maker effects from 2000s YouTube videos on this MOTD.

Gone to bed.
I've just been imagining John Motson (RIP) doing the commentary for these matches.

"Salah will take it... he's never missed a penalty during Lent... Oh its gone wide... What a cnut! What an absolute cnut!"

I would assume no as the production staff would have to put the graphics together. I cannot view it tonight so do let me know.
They're showing it now. Literally for about 10 seconds and then it's gone.

Aaaaaand, it's over. Hahahah. What a farce.

I don't think this is the way forward, I must admit.

The most succinct MOTD ever.

Great way to kill 20 minutes as you wait for the Resident Evil 4 Remake demo to finish downloading :o

Regardless of how you feel about the politics behind the situation, I personally believe this is going to be an early nail in the coffin for MOTD as a highlights show. Anybody below 40 years old knows they can go to YouTube or Twitter for every goal and 3 minute highlight packages are going to be up within an hour of the game finishing. I remember as far back as 2005, that people were posting GIFs of goals as they went in on football forums.

So what’s the point of it if it’s already out there? If it’s punditry you’re in it for then there’s so many mediums for that now. Journalists are providing insight via Twitter. Pundits post opinions via social media. There’s fan channels who know a lot more about their clubs than your average TV pundit might, especially the smaller teams where your average TV pundit is a deer in the headlights. You think Ian Wright and Alan Shearer know the intricacies of a team like Crystal Palace as opposed to one of the big teams like United, Liverpool or Arsenal who are always in the spotlight?
Sky's highlights are usually just the goals; they don't tend to show anything else.

BT are a bit better, but they still only show about one and a half minutes of highlights.

It’s amazing how much a commentator adds to the viewing experience.
Had never really considered it fully before tonight.
Couldn’t drown in the Liverpool tears as much as usual. Especially when they pick apart exactly how they lost.
Who will blink first because that was unwatchable?

I’m going to the game tomorrow and might put 5live commentary in my headphones while I’m there just to experience the other side of the weirdness spectrum

Didn’t BT used to have an option to watch without commentary? I used to turn it off when given the option, it’s weird at first but you get used to it. Most of them are crap and annoying.

It’s a weird situation as I don’t need someone to tell me what I’ve just seen with my own eyes, but it does add something.
Regardless of the quality of the commentary I have to listen to it. It’s not the same otherwise……

Just watched it.

What a load of shit. Commentary and punditry add so much.

It was like missionary sex with the lights off and socks on.

Get fecked BBC

Weirdly enough, it was the lack of replays that bothered me most. The penalty given against Spurs was a decision that I wasn't totally convinced by on initial viewing, and yet MOTD only showed one quick replay of it. It was like the entire show was intentionally badly edited.

They should've just pulled the plug on it this weekend. Why bother televising a show if you're well aware the content is going to be shoddy?
