The Qatar Pounder
It’s obviously state backed. Just like almost everything of worth in Qatar. But what about in 2023?
Do you believe thus isn't a state bid?

The biggest part of sport is the story to get there its usually not in the actual winning, imagine Sir Alex Ferguson came to United and we handed him everything on a plate in terms of transfers that he wanted money no object would his story be as romantic or would he be viewed as a lot of posters and fans think of Guardiola a cheque book manager who only went to clubs where he was guaranteed to win.Well to be fair we've never actually been here so I can't really say for certain how it'll feel. In my mind I don't think I'll feel any different though
This joke is about you.Dearie me.
You've lost the plot.
Going to be interesting to see how you support the club if the Qatar bidders are chosen. I wonder whos the horrible person supporting the authoritarian regime?
Oh the hypocrisy. Its all fun and games until it starts to affect you personally. Then all of a sudden you're not so much the moral crusader.
Isn't that true for any owner that buys our club? Whether its Sir Jim or Sheikh Jassim or some hedge fund?A mate of mine who used to post here said this.
I said I'd have to rethink "football" if those cnuts, the Glazers, sell us to a State owned operation.
The 9-2 foundation is a shell that was set up four months ago and has never spent one cent philanthropically or charitably at the time of their bid. We are supposed to think this guy is a fan but couldn't even be bothered to come and see something he reportedly loves and wants to spunk £6bn on … right!
I've started seeing lots of comments from new faces on channels like Stretford Paddock etc just saying "Qatar all the way" and "I'm with the Qatari's" these are all new faces I've not seen before from accounts that have been set up since February and suspiciously Qatar is spelled correctly in every one unlike the comments that are against the sale to the Evil Nation State who mostly use a "U" in there somewhere!
I think the rumour that the Qatari bid was leading only comes from SKY and ESPN who both love to report anything that makes United look bad, because they got the tour of the facilities before Sir Jim.
Also the sale to Sir Jim will not load more debt onto the club, he's said that definitively so that rumour is invalid too.
The Glazers will want to feck us going out so I wouldn't put it past them for their last move to be a sale to a concern that they know the fan base is against as it makes them look not so bad in comparison.
As badly run as the Glazer reign has been they are not murderers and human rights abusers and we still resemble a football club not like PSG who are a fecking circus!
We'll have to wait with baited breath … unless you've got £6bn hidden down the back of the sofa.
United is my club and will remain so for as long as I live.
I'm surprised many Mancunians cannot look past the money. We finally have got a manager worthy to step into Fergie's shoes. All a new owner needs to do is support his ideas. Players, staff training and development which will strengthen us long term.
Once these people buy the club, they can do anything with it. It becomes an asset in their books.
Most of us wanted the Glazers gone because they were killing the club financially.
These people will tear out the soul of the club.
Can I use YOUR OWN WORDS to argue against you?
American publications have a bad human rights record in the middle east?Which is rather ironic considering their human rights record in the Middle East.
It is odd. Even the Athletic said about the dad “so rich he made those in power uncomfortable” but then they go on about he can’t afford it by himself. Really doesn’t make sense. You’d think the readers would realise the contradictionSure I read somewhere on here that his dad was moved aside from the Emir because, even for a Qatari, he had too much money, estimated to be $30bn +.
ME rulers are ALL corrupt! Not racist that, no sir. You're sounding just like the Wum now.
This thread has had more thoughtful posts on this page than any other in the history of the thread. It’s genuinely funny, thought provoking and has people agreeing with each other despite differences. And this thread is unsurprisingly going to shite again. I wonder why
Again, incredible post. The biggest part of sport is the story to get there its usually not in the actual winning, imagine Sir Alex Ferguson came to United and we handed him everything on a plate in terms of transfers that he wanted money no object would his story be as romantic or would he be viewed as a lot of posters and fans think of Guardiola a cheque book manager who only went to clubs where he was guaranteed to win.
Winning at all costs has an actual cost maybe not in monetary terms but in terms of sporting achievement for me it will always be clouded.
One of our famous terrace chants starts "hollow, hollow, hollow........" questioning another clubs success it makes me a bit sad that the song in question would mean nothing as any of our success would be viewed the same from here in on if we become state backed which in turn would mean if we chanted it we'd be hypocrites
Cracking post mate. This thread has had more thoughtful posts on this page than any other in the history of the thread. It’s genuinely funny, thought provoking and has people agreeing with each other despite differences.
Sir Jim will run the club as a club should be run. The club will be an investment in INEOS books.Isn't that true for any owner that buys our club? Whether its Sir Jim or Sheikh Jassim or some hedge fund?
Well firstly I don't agree on the state owned thing as discussed. You tell yourself that. There will be no difference in the eyes of many, however you spin it - myself potentially included. No club should be backed by a fecking State, or never have to feasibly watch their finances. Even the biggest clubs in the World should have to loan a Wout Weghorst in the winter if they’ve spent too much in the summer. Otherwise what’s the point in sport? Just fodder for teenage tweeters and FIFA shut ins? United have always had the moral high ground in these arguments. We’ve always been a ‘proper club’ …but so many are happy to piss it all away for a sugar daddy. When as you say, we don’t actually even need it!
Deep down that’s why a lot of fans are desperate to make these little get out clause excuses or play on the technicalities… because reminding them of how others will consider it all completely hollow does rankle - even if it’s just a little. And so it should. And If all naysayers like me can do is remind them of that, then fine.. I’ll take what I can get at this point.
‘Cos I want rid of the Glazers too, I have no power or influence on anything and I am completely resigned this happening… but I’ll be fecked if I’m lifting up my legs and lubing your collective conscience as well. I’d rather be a party pooper than a hypocrite.
Fantastic post from someone who loves the club.
What is ridiculous is hosts like Qatar. They showed that you can buy anything with money and even move tournament from summer to winter This is the ridiculous part.
Good read but nothing we didn't know before. Both City and PSG are the worst things to happen to football ever.
Surely not UEFA as they are as corrupted as the oil clubs.
PSG worthy of feck all. They are just too deep in UEFA/FIFA arse to risk their Qatar world cup,
Yet another blow for football. Nobody can compete with City and PSG and it will get worse. You can't blame Messi for going there as I am sure he will get paid a lot more than anywhere else and ultimately that's what matters most. I know people are laughing at Barca and Real but I would rather have these 2 clubs strong than the abomination of City and PSG.
Cracking post mate.
Yep, and I stand by everything I said, your point being?Cracking posts mate.
Its an open secret that he still holds influence at the QIA.It is odd. Even the Athletic said about the dad “so rich he made those in power uncomfortable” but then they go on about he can’t afford it by himself. Really doesn’t make sense. You’d think the readers would realise the contradiction
I believe it almost certainly is mate. We see people on here trying to convince themselves and others now that it is not though. It’s obviously state backed. Just like almost everything of worth in Qatar.
Word of advice Dove.Yep, and I stand by everything I said, your point being?
I am aware. The other day he was boasting he woke up to 10 notifications, I bet that's the daily goalWord of advice Dove.
There is no point wasting your time arguing with someone who doesn't truly believe in what he has written.
Just look at his username for a start. He just wants to argue with someone.
I don't think anybody here is denying that its state backed in some form or other.I believe it almost certainly is mate. We see people on here trying to convince themselves and others now that it is not though.
Absolutely amazing.Word of advice Dove.

I gotta be honest, I don’t really see a big divide at all. Maybe it’ll change when the takeover actually happens but theres not some civil war on the horizonI see arguments for and against both potential ownerships. Like Neville says 'the horse has bolted on state ownership'. That's something that should have been prevented over 10 years ago and wasn't. Football quite frankly isn't the same game a lot of us knew 15/20 years ago and unfortunately, does revolve around money now more than ever.
The fanbase will be divided on ownership whatever the circumstances. I personally, do not believe the perfect owner exists. I for one, can't see myself never supported United. I have such a love and infatuation for the club that I will be there supporting them through thick and thin, despite some of the ugliness that may be there in the background portrayed through any potential owners.
I just believe that fellow fans should respect eachothers options and beliefs, regardless of whether they agree/disagree on the matter.
Amazing. Incredible. Cracking.Absolutely amazing.
Despite you having two different viewpoints mere pages apart, you feel confident enough to post this.
Apart from you. Two pages ago. When you called someone racist for saying that.I don't think anybody here is denying that its state backed in some form or other.
.
What has that got to do with the Qatari bidders anyways?
I suppose reading comprehension isn't your strongest suit.Apart from you. Two pages ago. When you called someone racist for saying that.
Do you think the other five posts who have all laughed at you and called you a hypocrite can’t read as well?I suppose reading comprehension isn't your strongest suit.
If you can't differentiate between state backed and state owned then there's nothing I can help you with.
I just wonder what sort of moral dilemma you'll be faced with if the Qatari's take ownership of our club.
Sort of cheering on the club whilst punching yourself in the nuts out of guilt?
You seem pretty two faced don't you think? One set of standards for things you like.Yep, and I stand by everything I said, your point being?
No no. Dove is AGAINST people who are hypocritical despite saying two years ago that City and PSG are abominations to football and corrupt and now wanting Qatar to take over his club. You seem pretty two faced don't you think? One set of standards for things you like.
Seems like there are alot of hypocrites on this board then?Do you think the other five posts who have all laughed at you and called you a hypocrite can’t read as well?
Yes. There is. Evidently.Seems like there are alot of hypocrites on this board then?
Do you believe any PL clubs are state owned?I don't think anybody here is denying that its state backed in some form or other.
But there is a massive difference between being state backed and state owned.
Anyways, its all semantics. The Glazers will choose the highest bidder.
Then lets see whether all these anti terrorist/human rights state crusaders will continue to support...well a terrorist/human rights abusing state.
Mate. They own harrods and half of central london too.Yes. There is. Evidently.
*Stands and applauds*You tell yourself that. There will be no difference in the eyes of many, however you spin it - myself potentially included. I understand the sentiment, but this wouldn't be the case for us, at best (or worst depending how you see it), if Qatar come in then they are going to spend the money the Glazers should have already spent on the stadium and training ground out of their own pockets, but given this money has basically been stolen from the club already by a regime that should never have been allowed, is this not to a certain extent acceptable? The biggest part of sport is the story to get there its usually not in the actual winning, imagine Sir Alex Ferguson came to United and we handed him everything on a plate in terms of transfers that he wanted money no object would his story be as romantic or would he be viewed as a lot of posters and fans think of Guardiola a cheque book manager who only went to clubs where he was guaranteed to win.

Forgive my bluntness, but nobody gives a shit. We’re talking about Manchester United.Mate. They own harrods and half of central london too.
Well no I don’t. I don’t support Central London orMate. They own harrods and half of central london too.
Best not go down there lest you be supporting an authoritarian regime
Oh right. No need to give a toss about human rights and LGBTQ rights if its not Manchester United.Forgive my bluntness, but nobody gives a shit. We’re talking about Manchester United.
I don’t care if they own Sainsbury’s. I’ve never been to Harrods or the Shard. I’ve only been to London twice in my life. However, I care deeply about my football club. Stop with the false equivalency to justify your lust for wealth.
How do you know that?Sir Jim will run the club as a club should be run. The club will be an investment in INEOS books.
The debt, club and training facility development, significant liabilities will all disappear from the club's books. All the profits will be plowed back into the club.
The club will not be used to whitewash deaths and human abuses.
What do these people understand about our culture?
The club is not about today. It is about future generations. What assurance is there it will be there long after all of us are gone?
