De Jong is pretty unique in his skillet, and I think he would fill so many shortcomings in our midfield - press resistance, ball carrying ability, eye for a pass etc. It's just unfortunate that he doesn't want to leave, despite being poorly used by Xavi.

Oh well, here's a short comp for all the haters.

Aye he fries a great steak! :D

Gavi is available for free, we should do everything possible to sign him and piss off Laporta
The best part is Gavi could hook up with Princess Leonor of Spain if he moved to Manchester, as she is in school in Wales, and we wouldn't have any of this "my girlfriend loves the weather in Barcelona" rubbish. Gavi can take Cantona's crown as the king of Old Trafford!!!! Its Gavi and LeONor!!!!

De Jong or someone else I don’t really care but after getting Casemiro it has become obvious that we seriously lack a ball playing CM beside him and it should be top priority alongside a no9.

I was talking with a friend and he made a great point in that City have KDB as a ball playing midfielder and Haaland as a no9 yet we have nobody. If hypothetically we had the same quality as them in them positions we would be as good as anyone in the world

Looking back on last summers saga reminded me of something I had forgotten about….
Did Barca ever follow through on their threat to sue FDJ over the alleged criminality in his contract? I guess we would have heard something?
You know anything as a Barca fan @Niemans ?

That was a desperate threat from Barcelona to try to intimidate FDJ, and make him accept a transfer or a salary reduction. The typical "modus operandi" of Laporta who has no scruples.
According to what is said around here, there will be a negotiation to adjust his salary and perhaps a contract extension.

Thanks. It did seem highly improbable at the time.
If he falls for that again, him and Barca deserve each other!

Sad that Barcelona have come to realise how excellent he is. Mad that it took them so long to realise, but still. He's on another level to Gavi and Pedri.

I think Xavi has helped the club-player relationship improve. Barcelona considers FDJ a vital player, given his good performance. If you ask me today, I think that Frankie de Jong will accept a contract reduction and extension. Then who knows if it will be like that.

The club has to lower the wage bill by €200M and will review contracts, mainly for the football and basketball sections; Mirotic is earning €11M a year, for example.

My thought is that I don't think Barcelona will lower those €200M, but it will stay close.

Pedri also is instrumental to them, however it was so boring to convince posters that Frenkie is still better than Gavi and it wad only for politics that he would not always play.

I think we've moved on from him. Even if Barca pushes him out do we really want a player that doesn't want to be here?

It's a fair point - we've had enough mercenaries in recent times... though playing Devil's Advocate, it could be argued that if if Barca pushes him out the door, then he might actally want to be here.

I want highly motivated players, players that want to be here that are thrilled to be part of the club. Players that consider us second best, which would be De Jong's best scenario, shouldn't be pursued. At least not as much as we've done with FJD.

Just wish there was another CM who had a similar profile to him, unfortunately for us he had such a unique skillset

But does he? I think we over rate him. I mean he's good but I dont find him particularly special, there are surely other options that can do a similar job.

Nicolo Barella is a playing I rate highly for that controlling number 8 position. Exceptional ball retention, press resistance, passing range, and engine. Not an individual super star, but I think a perfect system player in a well functioning midfield that would be greater than the sum of its parts.

I’d love to see a midfield three of Casemiro, Barella, Eriksen/Bruno. He was utterly brilliant at euro 2022.

Yes he's been great for Italy, I don't know how is he doing with Inter I really don't watch serie A.

As good as he is, its clear he doesn't want to be at United. I'd rather we sign the players that do. We've seen how that situation can unravel in the past decade.

Is it though? Should he have walked away form the 17m they owed. I very much doubt that he didn't have a talk with EtH before we started our pursuit.

Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.
It's on

United legend Andy Cole has warned his old side against from making the move, stating it would make them look desperate.

“I look at it from the outside, is Frenkie de Jong the midfield player that could do a job for Manchester United? No he's no,” he told King Casino Bonus. “De Jong is a very good player and there is no disputing that, but if you look at last season's transfer saga and you have to wonder why would Manchester United want to put themselves in that position again?

Why are people so fkn nuts. What transfer saga? The only saga was the one created by the media. Man Utd were in contact with De Jong, his agent and Barca. The transfer didn't happen. Thats it. People act like its some bat sht crazy thing that happened. They act like Barca, De Jong and his agent told United all summer they weren't interested but we just wouldn't leave them alone. Ten Haag was drunk calling him and sending De Jong love txts or something. People need to get a fkn grip. Media stories are 99 percent bullsht.

Everyone needs to get it in thier thick fkn heads. Transfers can be complicated. They can take a long time. They can be cancelled at the last minute even when everyone is agreement. And most importantly the media know jack sht.
