We’re in 3 competitions and he’s out there having kids. This is all because of Woodward’s era. Job for the lads attitude. Get rid in the summer. Need some impotent lads in.

So the mirror are saying he could be out for six weeks which would be the season.

Which would be a blow if we made the fa cup final due to the calibre of opposition (provided we navigate todays game)

Hopefully he's ready for next season.

Makes the most sense especially as we can play Malacia or Dalot lb and awb and Dalot RB as and when.
Assuming that's the pairing v Brighton so we can see how they work together. We are defo gonna miss varanes leadership

Strangely, if this was his last game this season, he'll have only played one more game than he did last season.

Can see why CB is high on some people's priority lists for the summer. Would be 3rd at most for me but still say GK edges it

The top 4 run-in has become that bit more difficult if true.

Top player but with his injury record we just can't rely on him. We should already be looking at replacements.

That would be fantastic news. Would be harsh on lindelof but varane as a leader at the back (if fit) is a big big bonus. We can have as close to the same team as possible that faced city in the league for the win

In my mind I've already written Varane off for the season but if he can make the final it would be a huge boost.

His injury record is fine really*

*If United didn't have Maguire as his replacement.

Very very good news. As well as Shaw has done recently he's our best full back and i'd rather see him playing there for the cup final.

Fantastic news. Getting a few games under his belt before the FA Cup final would be beneficial. Him and Shaw together did a great job v Haaland at the OT match. We need something similar to stand a chance in that game and as strong as possible starting line up.

yeah shaw needs to be playing LB. Im seeing way too many posts about shaw playing a lot at CB next season. Glad he has filled in decently well but in no way should we be counting on him to play a lot at CB next season.

He was the player that I felt picked the team up the most after the disastrous start to the season and i'm hoping he might come back and have the same effect again.

Not that Shaw and Lindelof have been bad but we miss Varane, almost as much as Martinez.

Does he walk back into the team? Aside from the handball Shaw and Lindelof have done nothing wrong.
I reckon hes eased into the match (sub). I can see if we need to, we bring in him in, push Shaw lb and have Varane/Lindelof CB to try and hopefully get some width and crosses (especially with Rashford out)

Move Shaw back to LB where he’s a threat further up the pitch. Varane and lindelof at the back. Need some organisation in that defence and varanes the man to bring it.

Having Varane back is a huge plus.

We do miss Shaw at left back despite his good performances at centre back. AWB and Dalot don't create enough.

exactly. And even last game you can see the errors creeping in from shaw on some of his decision making at CB.

Not so much on merit because as you say Lindelof and Shaw have been very good. However we need Shaw back at LB, he's one of our most important players in that position

If he is fit he should be straight back in. Get him on the pitch while he is fit, as his next injury is never too far away.

I definitely see the argument for Shaw back at leftback, but then we have two right footed CBs, and one of the reasons Shaw and Lindelof work is the balance.

Please watch the games, Lindelof has on many occasions refused the pass out to wing to AWB and Casemiro on numerous occasions. Case showed his annoyance as he and other are open but Lindelof thinks, thinks again and then turn to pass sideways or back to DDG. It those moments that slows everything down if the pass isn't made you loose progressive movement forward and allows the opposition to reset. The same when its plays to Martial and he collects and goes for the run around the roundabout on his own before moving forward the opposition are reset. Its only fractions but it counts over and over to weak penetration of the opposition back line. Lindelof is a satisfactory back up but no more than that and would never be a first team starter if Varane or another, next year, is available.
