Horrible fullback. We should not be extending his contract. He cannot carry the ball, can’t put in a decent cross, horrible defender. If he had played against Mitoma we would have been dead and buried inside 90 mins.
Go to sleep.

I think he unfairly will get compared to Wan-Bissaka defensively.

A lot of Brighton's attacks came down their right (our left) and March gave him some problems but he's a good player will give most left-backs problems.

Dalot was decent today.

What's his contract situation? Expires next season right? Big decision to make this summer if that's the case.

I'm not sure where I stand with him. Near the beginning of the season I was adamant on keeping him and selling AWB. But considering how impressive the latter has been with his improvement, I don't know anymore. Dalot's contract situation makes it more awkward too - not sure he'd sign on if he's only promised a squad role - he'll have plenty of suitors in the continent who will guarantee him game time.

I personally think he's gone, unless we get a big bid for Wan Bissaka.

He's better than AWB at the inverted tucking into midfield stuff that Ten Hag likes from his fullbacks which is why I still think it's more likely that AWB will leave if we sign Frimpong.

If AWB is to leave Old Trafford before he goes I want to see him at least once and RCB.

In what way is he good? He cannot make a decent pass or cross. Did you look at how Gross and Estupinan play? At least AwB can defend. I’m pretty sure EtH is going to sell Dalot and replace him with Frimpong.
Fair enough about selling but how can you be pretty sure about the replacement? That seems random.

He's not good enough on the ball, so we'd still have the same problem playing out from the back. Plus, both his positioning and ability in the air are lacking. This would be a lot more exposed at CB.

He seems to play better on the left than the right recently. It could be because he has more chances to cut inside and does not have to cross. His crosses are just Sunday League's level at times from the right side.

So Dalot or Malacia to keep as cover? It seems like Dalot makes more sense as he can cover both sides equally good, and seems like a better defender than Malacia.

Malacia is fine as a deputy at left back. He won't be sold.

Dalot had a couple of sketchy moments trying to defend against March and Groß and you could definitely tell he wasn't defending on his natural side. I wouldn't want to see him playing there again if we can help it.

I'm open minded on this. Definitely think it's up for debate.

Yeah. I'm probably being harsh on Malacia. I think he's a terrible defender, and ok-ish going forward.

If we want to go hard on trophies next season, I see Dalot as a more ready backup than a long-term project like Malacia.

Totally agree.

Never rated either of them, at least I don't think I have.

AWB and Dalot get given the run around most weeks by average wingers. It's gone beyond a joke how poor they are at the very basic aspects of being a full back. They aren't solid defensively and offer shag all going forward.

If anyone remembers one of Nevilles last games at Stoke he was given taken off at half time I think he was roasted by Etherington. His last game against West Brom. He was run into the ground by Graeme fecking Dorrans, was lucky not to see red. It was probably the first time in his career we saw him struggle against such players. He hadn't been great for a year or two, but this showed he was just finished, AWB and Dalot struggle against almost any wingers who just decide to run at them.

Anyway, my point being these two guys are in better shape and much younger and still are probably not even at the same level as a legless mid 30s Gary Neville. Neither of them ever were or will be good enough.

One of the most insipid and anonymous performances I can remember from any United player this season. Did he do anything? I can remember one decent bit of tracking back? No wonder this thread is dead, half an hour after full time. Most people probably didn’t realise he was playing.

He made a few good interceptions in the second half from what I remember but like the rest of the team was largely anonymous in the second half. Not the worst on the pitch.

No intensity about him tonight. There was a part where we conceded a chance through our sloppy play, and rather than sprint back, he just gesticulated something towards teammates after the event, but even that looked fairly bored. Annoying, because when you hear him talk he says all the right things and he convinces you he has some minerals, then he throws in these semi-regular games where he's just a body. Then suddenly the right fixture comes along and he's pressing people, going through the back of them, looking up for a fight. Seems to be another that picks and chooses when to be up for a game.

Didn't track Song on the far post. Rubbish again
If this is for the equaliser, This one is very unlucky. He was out wide whilst ddg had possession. Ddg booted it towards the half way line, and one header took him out the game. He sprinted back but he was out of it from that moment ddg turned the ball over.

Seems like I avoid this thread during the bad patches but he was playing nice cross field passes today.

Dalot allows ETH to be tactical flexible. He was playing as a 3rd CB, CM and RB. AWB won't ever be able to do that. What AWB does is able to do a job on against a very good dribbler but rarely adds further. I know he showed more to his game against Brughton but I doubt he will be able to replicate it consistently.

It was an ehh game right? I mean he didn't do anything bad that I can't remember
But also I can't remember anything he did at all.

I think him and Rashford together is an issue as both would cut in onto their right though tbf to Dalot he's not afraid to use his left

Meh is good enough for now. We can't replace the entire roster, right now its the players who bring negative results to the team that need replacing (Wout, Martial, Fred, Maguire, etc). Dalot is...fine. Probably won't win a league with him but he's good enough to get top 4. Replace once more important positions are dealt with

Think he's a bit meh at left back. Don't think his defending is convincing and he offers nothing in supporting his wide man or giving us any sort of attacking threat or outlet
Think the meh'ness hasn't much to do on which flank he plays... :)

God, he’s so poor. Like so many of our players at the minute he’s capable of extreme moments of stupidity that can lead to chances / goals. Moments you just don’t see at city.

I fecking hate fullbacks playing on the wrong side. A real pet peeve. It looks horrible aesthetically, they play like shit most of the time and it's just really annoying.
