This is bad for all parties. He will need time to recover and we will struggle even more to offload him.
We might be stuck with him for another year which aint good for him or us.

I feel for him but he’s a waste of a space in the squad when he’s not injured, so this will hardly help matters. His time at United won’t reflect terribly well on anyone involved.

Geez.
He’s had a hard time and it hasn’t quite clicked. Probably the fault of both parties. However this is a young man who was wanted by all the big clubs in Europe. He’ll never come back at Man Utd. Sad for him, hopefully he’ll bounce back even if it’s elsewhere.

Rumours floating around Ajax want to buy him back for nearly 30 million. That would be hilarious. I hope they do it.

How is it possible to sell someone back for less money and still feel like you're robbing them blind?

Until someone reliable like Verweij reports it I will be taking it with large pinch of salt

Nah, can't see it. Nobody is stupid enough to buy an injured player who is this average for 30 Million.

If they are then we don't even need to consider it, he's gone.

The idea of having to even think about him again annoys me. We know everything we need to about him. We need to get rid and stop chasing the sunk cost.

The way Ajax might see it is that Manchester United just isn't good enough to understand, appreciate and utilize the tactical genius that is Donny van de Beek.

And it gives them a chance to make another "Dream like Donny" video for me to throw up to.

I’d sell him for 10. Want him nowhere near the first team. Much rather see Mainoo or Iqbal getting chances.

Who would people rather have - Sabitzer or Donny as the Bruno backup?

Rather have a youngster that VDB.

He must be our worst signing from the last decade. 40M for a player that doesn't start when the competition was McFred, is not even 4th-5th rotation option at the moment. Hasn't got meaningful minutes with none of the 3 managers that we've had during his time here one which already had managed him by the way.

Plus he couldn't even break through in the worst Everton team I can remember.

Awful awful signing no matter how you look at it.

Still willing to give him another chance under ETH. Look at how much Wan Bissaka & Fred have raised their game under his coaching. No one will buy Donny this summer anyway, so I’d give him to January. But he’ll need minutes on the pitch to prove himself, which he had only started to get before he got injured.

“I’m busy with my recovery after my injury and everything is going well.

“It’s hard to give you a time but we have to see how everything goes. I’m doing a lot of gym work and getting closer to being on the pitch, which is positive. I’m not far away.”

“It’s (watching the team from the sidelines) a bit strange – of course you want to be there with the lads but it is what it is so I’m supporting them from the side.

“They are so involved – they’re always asking how everything is, how the knee is. They’re really good lads and they support me, so that’s a good feeling.”

Loan him out next season, or sell him.
Sabitzer has shown more in the last 4 months than VDB has shown in 3 (?) years.

IMO, you do squad building the wrong way. Rather than pushing meh player out and replacing him with another different flavor of meh player and hope the new one would improve, why not try to buy a starter CM. That would means Eriksen becomes our rotational CM. We should have buy this CM regardless anyways. Then buy some players like Lavia that with potential to become long term starter. Why waste money on Sabitzer?

Hope he comes back strong and gets a good new team. He was just getting fitter when he got injured, it is sad what happened to him.

Donny has a unique ability. I just completely forget he is at the club until I see his name, and I'm like "Oh yeah, I forgot the club had him". Then I completely forget him again shortly after that.

Will go down as our worst signing ever. He’s championship level at best.

He has been a failed buy but he has performed in the CL against very good teams. He is a quality player. Certainly not a championship player.

More great players failed at Manchester United but that doesnt mean they arent good players. The time and situation just werent right for Donny and Manchester United to be a succes.
