Replacing Modric-Casemiro-Kroos with Bellingham-Tchouameni-Camavinga/Valverde is the sort of greed they talked about in the Bible...
The best teams usually have 2 creative playmakers in midfield. It's been the case since the early 2000s. Barcelona under Guardiola, the United team that won the double, Real Madrid of recent seasons, AC Milan in 2007, both CL winning Bayern sides etc.

Jose's early Chelsea side and the Liverpool team of the last few years are the only exceptions I can think of. In the case of the former, Mourinho's old fashioned tactics have been found out these days. And in the case of the latter, it's only because Klopp had 2 world class playmakers at fullback instead.

As strong as that midfield looks for Real on paper next season, I think it's a massive downgrade on what they've had before. They'll need a couple of top class conductors in there if they intend to remain amongst the best.

I hope they get Bellingham. He may be world class, but he needs a sturdy platform from which to perform. I don't think Real will give him one. Just in time for EtH to take us back to the promised land

I don’t really get why, not impressed with what I’ve seen of him and we have much more urgent positions to strengthen. Replacing Kroos, Case and Modric was always going to be a challenge and a step (or a couple steps) down. No way would we be lucky enough to replace them 1:1.

I would’ve been content with Valverde, Tchou and Cama as a midfield, don’t know why we need Bellingham who I’d consider a lesser player than all of the others.

RB, RW and striker should be our primary targets. Unless the club sees that Endrick kid as Benzema’s replacement in a year or two but that is a huge gamble.
I love Valverde and I think Tchouameni is a very good player that I would never like to lose but in terms of raw talent I think Camavinga and Bellingham look incredibly special to me.

Personally I would be very excited with this signing if finally goes through.

The EPL can’t even attract the best English player since Rooney, the best league my arse…
On top of that Rapinha will likely return for a huge fee after failing at Barca. All are signs for me that LaLiga is simply better or at the very least more highly regarded by players.
So much better that Madrid and Barca want to break away and form a super league.

Not bothered about this player in particular, but all the corruption being uncovered in football, Madrid’s year-in year-out systematic tapping up of players in plain sight goes unchallenged.

Systematic tapping up?

I don't think it goes that deep for them, they're just Real Madrid  . Their pull is unmatched in world football and for good reason, they're the glamour club of the sport like the NY Yankees, LA Lakers etc. Young players and the best talent will always gravitate towards them as they have throughout their history. They don't need to do anything crazy.

Don't think they moved inappropriately in any fashion with Bellingham, it was reported throughout that they've been in direct contact with Dortmund with each overture and meeting they've taken up with him. If the selling club hasn't had any issue with it then I don't think there's much wrong there.

It's a stark contrast to Liverpools blatant, shameless and somewhat desperate tapping up of him in public over the last year or so.

Dortmund and Madrid have quite good relations, I believe it's also the case that Watzke and Perez are personal friends. I don't think there is something ongoing that would break the rules, I am pretty sure that the clubs are open about their intentions.

Because of that I am also sure that if Bellingham agrees a deal with Madrid the transfer will be wrapped up pretty quickly and without trouble.

Well that shouldn't be too difficult for Madrid because well they're Madrid after all but yeah the lack of technical quality is a bit glaring as far as Madrid midfields go, the only one id say is capable of playing in a very technical side is camavinga and they're trying to convert him into a winger for whatever reason.
I wouldn’t have thought that would be the long term plan, but is more a result of Mendy’s injury plagued season and Alaba’s possible reluctance to play LB? I’m not sure they have an obvious first choice LB now, and I suspect they’ll look to bring one in next season.

Liverpool have to be sick to the stomach of Real. Always get bitchslapped by them in the CL, wanted Tchouameni last year and Real took him and now been on their knees with the chapstick ready for two years for Jude and Real swoop in.

It's fecking Real Madrid, mate. They don't need underhanded methods to sign the most desired players. Because the best want to play for them. That's what happens when you are the best and most successful club.

He started the season really well but yeah it hasn’t been a smooth season for him.
Fecking world cup broke him. Will be good again next season, i'm sure of it. Quality is there

I can't remember why I joined this war.
If he goes to Real I think that's a good decision on his part. That could also end up being some amazing midfield with Tchouaméni, Camavinga and Bellingham. Amazing amount of talent right there, might take them a couple more years to hit their absolute peak though.

I personally think Bellingham could be one of the best players England has ever produced. So confident and composed for such a young lad. Has so much time on the ball. Physically strong. Excellent movement. He should develop and should have record caps by the time he retires if all goes well.

Would have loved him at United but if not, hope he becomes the player he can be for England's sake.

United and all of the top clubs have done and will be doing exactly the same. You might be too young to remember when United used to pick off the best players from rival domestic clubs regularly, or the stories of Fergie getting the club to send United shirts to players with their name on the back.

Also, I suspect when most players know Real Madrid are keen, they're very much interested. Who wouldn't want to play for them?

Probably the best choice for him. He has excelled in a league and tournament where hes had time and space to run and its never been a physical challenge. He will have the same at Real. Maybe he will adapt to the PL but its a 100m risk and the track record from Germany isn't great.

He's virtually certain to crush it with Real, if he comes to England it could go either way.

RM showing the world how to do rebuilds. Without even saying the word.
Ronaldo replaced
Kroos, Modric, Casemiro replaced while they were still there. (Casemiro now gone)
Ramos & Varane replaced

Probably the most effective rebuild in history.

How has Kroos and Modric been replaced? They got a midfielder so they're replaced? Tchouameni is the only player that is actually a replacement for Casemiro, but even then, he's still not as good yet. Time will show if he will be.

I would previously have said that would be the chance to sign one. But in recent years RM are very patient with younger players. They’ve become a bit like United under SAF

Neither of them are world class players yet. If you look at them individually, the midfield looks potentially fantastic but Camavinga and Bellingham are very different players to Kroos and Modric. No matter how you look at it, that midfield is not going to be as strong as it was.

My mistake. You’re right Kroos and Modric are obviously still going to be playing in 2-4 years.

They've replaced world class players with worse players and somehow it's the most efficient rebuild in the history?
If they replaced each with a 26 year old marquee signing from a top 4 European club how much would it cost?

Instead they’ve signed the 3 most sought after CM’s in the 18-23 age group. Players who are not yet at their peak, will even get better, can become world class, and can last a decade or more. Bit like the generation that’s been/being replaced.

When you buy 3 midfield talents, yes it's called a rebuild and a damned efficient one.
They can buy all the midfield talent in the world if they want, but it's not going to help their midfield when they buy midfielders with similar traits and skills. None of them are passing or technical masters like Kroos or Modric which is the reason they've been dominating for so long. Despite being in the CL final, they don't control games as much anymore, especially when Kroos and Modric don't play. While I admire how they're run and actually replace players that are past it, I think we're going to see a weaker Real Madrid a few years ahead, but I guess that was always going to happen as it's impossible to replace these two like for like.

As you said they cant replace like for like and we dont know how it will turn up, but as I said rebuild is done by buying talented players in positions in which you have older players who'll soon retire and with talented players who have potential to be world class. Of course they're different kind of players so they'll change the way they'll play, maybe they'll be weaker, maybe not, maybe even stronger.

I'm really torn on Bellingham. He is young and highly rated, but every time I see him I can't help but feel that he is overrated.

In any case, that is damn good business from Madrid. Still remains to be seen if the youngsters will live up to the hype.

Probably not more than the €230m they paid for those three.
€31m for Camavinga
€80m for Tchouameni
€41m for Junior
Bellingham might cost less than people think, but even if it’s €130.

You’re looking at the fee and ignoring the fact the ones signed came on relatively low wages, and should be there 10 plus years. Plus RM will most likely sell one when his his just past his peak and recoup the entire outlay.

That's a totally different argument to what you said: "If they replaced each with a 26 year old marquee signing from a top 4 European club how much would it cost?"

Yes.. I don’t think you could sign 2 marquee world class 26 year old CM’s for €31m and €80m, might be able to get one for €80m if he is unsettled and forces a move.

Wether we think the replacements are as good or not it can't be denied that their intention as a club is there.

Clubs can't always get it right with recruitment but if they have the right intentions that goes a long way. More often than not it'll work out.

As opposed to us, who neglect positions completely for a decade etc.

That's true but unfortunately you can't sign the new Modric and the new Kroos because they don't exist, and I don't think they're looking for a trio of organiser - destroyer- creator either, but rather physical, intense, versatile players and in the case of Bellingham, players who add verticality to his technical talent(the most exalted fans say that we have signed a 19 years old Zidane).
A team made to burn physically with Camavinga, Valverde and to run with Vini and Bellingham. Even Endrick looks like a physical prodigy with two hams for legs.
In short, a Madrid geared towards modern football.
Then obviously Barcelona can come in with Pedri+De Jong and beat you with possession and control but in principle it doesn't seem like a bad plan.
Personally I still think of Camavinga a la Redondo, very far back and with Tchouameni covering a lot of ground, that is if he wakes up and finds his place.

Again not the same argument as you conveniently left out Bellingham's fee. "If you replaced each..."

Exactly. You cant find a new Modrić, who knows it there will ever be someone similar. Same with national team, we'll have to ajdust the way we play once he retires.

Also, Redondo, what a nineties flash, loved that player.
