Did ok when he came off the bench last night.

Enjoyed seeing him boot the ball, long away from our penalty area when Villa were exerting pressure late in the game.

Harry Maguire is better than what Spurs currently have. They're a big enough club to give Maguire a dignified exit as well.

Comes back into the team, lots of chaos. Goes back out of the team, no chaos again. Maguire tribe still convinced he isn’t the problem.

When he was waiting to come on on Sunday I saw him shaking Emerys hand in the technical area. Not sure if it got picked up on telly.

Found it strange

Ĥave you ever seen the players in the tunnell before they come out on the pitch and the way they interact?
You must find that really strange

I have seen that yes.

what I have never seen until the weekend was a player shaking hands with the opposing manager in the middle of a game as he’s waiting to come on to the pitch.

Was not Maguire linked to a move to Aston Villa in January? Maybe Maguire finally give Aston Villa the handshake for that?

No one can accuse our Harry for not being friendly.

My issue with Maguire is even if you take away all of his individual mistakes, which there are a lot of, he’s the same player we signed from Leicester.

He hasn’t improved his game at all even under ETH. When you listen to his interviews and see the way he celebrates his goals against small teams, it strikes me as a person who thinks they’re above improving because he already sees himself at the top.

I don’t know if that’s the case but it’s how it looks to an outsider, even being benched hasn’t sparked a change. For that reason alone he should be sold.

As for the abuse, he’s in control of that. Play well and people won’t make fun of you as much, many players have done it.

needs to be sold. Shaw has closed down so many thru balls by using just a decent amount of pace that maguire would be nowhere near. Sell maguire and bring in a lesser known CB to groom and fill in when varane and martinez are out.

OK, so his judgement and positioning is poor, he's too slow to pass, easily dispossessed and can't turn or sprint. But he's had the season thus far to work on those issues but shown no improvement at all. I'd love to know why not? Do we not have staff to help correct his lumpy gait or ball control? It's difficult to fathom how a pro athlete can be so devoid of any technique.
More to the point though, I doubt he holds the respect of many of his team mates.

Some players just aren’t good at certain things, and some players get comfortable doing things one way, look at Robben.

Robben had the talent and football IQ to improve his game but his style worked so he perfected it.

Maguire has gotten comfortable in his style but isn’t perfecting it, he’s relying on old tricks. It doesn’t matter who the coach is, if you don’t want to improve you won’t improve.

The only question about Maguire now is how much can we get for him. Id say £35mil is achievable.

I think it's more to do with unsuitability to the centre back role under this manager and a crisis of confidence that has arisen from his poor performances. If you lose all confidence it will filter through into all aspects - positioning, judgment are impacted because he's in his own head, willingness to pass quickly was never a strong point but he'd be even more deliberate to ensure he doesn't feck up. So I think this is more the problem than individual attributes.

I think one of the clearest examples of what I mean is he keeps diving in early on the striker and getting out of position. That is something that isn't suited to his game at all, and typically he doesn't do it often for England or when he's playing well. But at United there's an anxiety that he has to be doing something, that he can't let an attacker get faced up against him. It's sheer panic.

I completely disagree. Dier is mid but he doesn’t make huge errors anytime someone with a little bit of talent comes near him and he doesn’t increase the amount of mistakes the defence and keeper make.

He obviously isn't. You've just criticised how he celebrates goals, showcasing how he'll get abuse in some quarters even when making a positive contribution.

Who is this mythical 'Maguire tribe', not including members of his own family?

From what I see, everyone wants him moved on, with the only real variance among fans being the volume of invective they feel the need to send his way.

You’re not looking at the bigger picture. The way he celebrated said a lot about his character, and the interviews reiterated that. He thinks he’s one of the best and denies his mistakes which is why he hasn’t improved.

He won’t be criticised unless he deserves it. The constant mistakes and the blatant arrogance/lack of self awareness is what people are criticising him for, not the goals.

We were chasing goal, and EtH still reluctant to sub in Maguire as CB then moved Shaw to LB. Makes you wonder what did Maguire do to piss EtH off so much, more than try to win game?

With Maguire it doesn't seem to be a confidence issue, its an over confidence and arrogance problem. He rarely takes responsibility, then says he has nothing to prove etc when he is absolute muck. Scores against some statelet and he's cupping the ears and all to his "doubters".

No point in flogging a dead horse

He's clearly for the exit in the summer.
He's well down the plans of ETH and the FFP means we need money

He's going to be part of a transfer deal where we give him and money.

Spurs and Kane maybe.
His United career is over.

One of the best performances he had yesterday.......

Will "lead" the team one final time this weekend and will probably be sold this summer.

Final appearance at OT next week?
You'd think so. He only started in 7 league games this season + was subbed on in 8, it's clear ten Hag wants to sell him. Hopefully there are PL clubs interested and for a decent fee. He'd be good for plenty of teams. You look at Tottenham's defence atm and even they'd be much better with him in it.

Hope he plays well, has Mitrovic in his pocket and convinces Levy, Moyes or Howe to part with £40M for him.
He could even be a make weight in a Kane swap, though player swaps are quite rare nowadays.
One thing to be said about Maguire, he has never moaned or disrespected the club, even in this difficult season for him (hopefully he has no Piers Morgan interview lined up :nono:)
