I found it odd that some were acting as if it was utterly obvious that he was much better than McFred after watching his first few games. There was very little there to get excited about, a more experienced Donny that didn't fill any urgent needs for the team.

That's a shame was decent option and added some strength in depth. Fred likely to see more game time now in the remaining games and a bad Fred is like playing with 10 men.

That'll be it for him and United then. Pretty forgettable loan, all things considered. He made up the numbers when he was needed to. I can't help but feel like maybe there was more to him than we saw at his time at United, but ultimately if he was what we needed going forward he would have showed some of that during his time here.

What is it with Bayern midfielders joining us and having these types of injuries? At least this time we can send him back.

Shame, I quite liked him but dont think hes going to be anything more than a squad player and dont think we have the budget for that this summer.

Makes sense why we are looking at Rabiot again.

Pointless. Another injury and the guy isn't great, anyway. Back to Bayern here goes.

Was worth taking the risk on the loan. Really thought those two goals against Seville should’ve been lift off for him here and it really felt like he was a United player.

Shame but makes the need for midfielders clearer.

Gutted for him tbh. He was brought in to cover for Erikson, and a midfield of Casemiro, Sabitizer and Bruno was an interesting prospect, but it just never seemed to work, between Casemiro's suspensions, and Sabitizer's injuries I can only recall that happening once, maybe. We would have needed to see more, and there were glimpses at times, but not enough. And I believe this is his 4th, for sure 3rd, injury since joining, which is enough of a redflag on it's own.

He didn't play on the weekend. The injury must have happened in training.

If he was still practicing with the first team there would be a few on here that would automatically blame Phil Jones.

Been unlucky with the numerous injuries he's had here. He's a good player in the right set up but one I don't think we need long term.

Hopefully this means ETH will start using Fred more prominently as he has deserved more time than his recent showings.

Real shame about that injury as basically Sabitzer's stint with us is finished after that. I've liked him tbh, nothing spectacular but he's been decent for us and filled in nicely when Casemiro was suspended, imagine if we didn't sign him and those red cards happened... Also that brace vs Sevilla. Won a trophy with us too and there's a chance for another one even though he won't participate in the final.

Our budget is too low so we can't be spending money on keeping him but in another situation I'd probably be okay with him staying.

I liked him, but don't think he did enough to show he is worth more in the squad than either Fred or mctomminay. Hopefully the summer mandate is younger, more athletic MFs

Overall a bit of a disappointing spell. Clearly a good player and had some great moments but don't think he's done enough to earn the move.

Exactly my thoughts. He is a good player. But.....he is not game changer or material for first 11. Good backup maybe for Bruno.

But overall, he gave us few good games and was injured most of times.

Agreed.
He didn't do much for the team.
Certainly no improvement on what we have.
I think people who disliked 'McFred' were getting too carried away with themselves.
Don't want to see him injured but we shouldn't be looking to retain him.

Shame it didn't quite work out. He did decently I think but was better than what he showed. If he were a year or two younger I wouldn't be against bringing him in on the cheap, but at 29 with his injuries, it doesn't quite seem worth it.

Best of luck to the guy.

Was a necessary loan and did alright. Was never going to play a big role, was a solid level body to cover Eriksens injury and rotate with Fred to be Casemiro's partner. That's what he did.

Has he done enough to get a deal in the summer... probably not.

Not unless Bayern are practically giving him away.

Do not attempt to sign.
His contributions have been pretty minimal.
One of those players that looks good here and there but doesn't deliver enough

If you look back at his time at Leipzig he was an attacking midfielder for them and scored a lot of goals. So it makes sense that he wouldn't do well in a midfield 2. That's not really something he specialises at.

As we have Bruno there's no real need to make this permanent unless you want to get rid of Bruno and put Sabitzer there instead.

His RB Leipzig stats (transfermarkt)

So, he's played as AM as many as CM but mostly as RW

And also his RW stats doesn't look bad. ~1 G/A per 3 games. Maybe we should try him there.

If Donnie is still rubbish, and we don't promote any youth kids, then I'd like to see him back at this club. He can return to us in January 2024 and he our 2nd midfielder. In a normal paced season he probably will be even better than this year.

He’s been unavailable for roughly half the time since the loan, and in the games he did play in had been about average, not outstanding.

Clear pass, I’d rather keep Fred, at least he’s free. Rabiot on a free will be even better.

We should look at sth like Lavia, Rabiot + a bona fide metronome, while not renewing him and binning Fred, Mctominay and DvB.

A decent but very forgettable player. If he doesn’t get signed then I could see it being in 10-15 years like ‘he played for United? I forgot about that!’
